Only the present counts

Through the Anbu mask, Sakura looked attentively at the enemy ninjas. She grasped the situation with a sharp mistake. There were about twelve Oto-nins and their team only had four members.
Unless a miracle happened, they could wrap up.
One of the Oto-nins, probably the leader, sneered at her. "Are you sure you want to fight?" He asked thoughtfully. Sakura swallowed and forced himself to relax.
We are Anbus. We are strong. We make it.
And yet ... The situation was hopeless. Then events rolled over. The Oto-nins attacked and the Konoha Anbus took up a defensive position. But they didn't stand a chance. Within minutes everyone was on the ground. Only one of the four managed to escape.
When the Oto-nins disappeared, Sakura tried to straighten up. She was badly injured, but she did not have a wound that was extremely dangerous to life.
Suddenly a shadow fell on her. With a lifeless look she looked up.A man in a black cloak with red clouds was standing in front of her. She knew him.

It was Itachi Uchiha. An Akatsuki member. But they said he was dead.
Confused, she realized he was helping her up so she could heal properly. Then he cremated the other two Anbu bodies and one of the Oto-nins bodies. "You will be pronounced dead," he said curtly. "And why?", Sakura asked in a shaky voice. "Follow me." Was the only thing she got to hear. "I faked my own death and am now free. I can go where I want and I can do what I want. I am not tied to my organization, nor will I be followed by Anbu units. I can start a new life . "Sakura made eyes wide. "To be free? I would like to be that free too."
"You can do it.", He answered her in a velvety voice.
Sakura thought for a moment.

Her parents had died on a mission, Sasuke was with Ino, Hinata with Naruto, Temari with Shikamaru and Neji with Tenten.Even Rock Lee had found someone. Only she was left.
The others tried to build them into their group. But Sakura had long since noticed that she was no longer important to the others.
It was just overlooked.

"Good. I'll come with you.", Sakura said with a smile. An honest smile. Itachi smiled gently too and pulled her to him. “Follow me, Cherry Blossom.” Then he kissed her and jumped off. He pulled the surprised Sakura with him.
This giggled.

Who asked why and why?
Itachi was with her and together they would start a new life.
Far from the past.

Because only the present mattered.
