Have fun while reading! ^^
************************************************** ******
When I woke up again, most of the men were already awake.
I looked around searching. Where was michael Finally I discovered him, he was standing by Nox and stroking his forehead.
Something was different than usual, however.
It took me a while to realize what it was.
He was not wearing a hood.
So he was probably really wanted and could only allow himself to take off his hood among other outlaws and persecuted people.
A cold shiver ran down my spine.
I wondered what he'd done wrong. I got up and went to him, only now did I notice that my muscles were quite sore.
At least my clothes were dry again and it was actually quite warm in here. Michael turned to me and I looked at him.
His shoulder-length brown hair fell open over his broad shoulders.
His almost snow-white skin was in stark contrast to his bright green eyes, which almost seemed to glow.
While they were almost yellow on the inside, they became a little darker on the outside, on the outside they were moss green, and the iris was surrounded by a deep black circle.
Under Michael's fair skin, the veins were clearly visible on the temples, which gave him a slightly eerie look.
He looked perfectly calm when he looked at me like that, his gaze was almost a little cold, but only for a tiny moment, then he looked friendly, even if he wasn't smiling.
I kept looking at Michael, but after a moment he turned away from me again."Tomorrow. You must be hungry," he said as he rummaged through a bag. It was only now that I realized that it was really me.
"Tomorrow. Yes, I really am." I said.
My stomach growled as if in confirmation. Michael handed me something to eat, then took me back to the fire, where we sat.
"Are you not hungry?" I asked between a few bites. Michael shook his head.
"No, I've already eaten." He said and smiled slightly.
I kept eating, shrugging. Well then there was more left for me. I was quite hungry, no wonder, after all, I hadn't eaten the night before and had run all night.
I sighed when I thought about walking again today.
It was already exhausting yesterday, but today with the sore muscles ... that would be fun.
When I had finished, Michael got up.
"We should go on," he said. I got up too and nodded.
Michael went to Nox and saddled him, he went briefly to one of the men and said goodbye to him with a handshake, he leaned forward briefly and said something quietly to him before he turned away and went deeper into the cave with Nox.
I followed them, wondering why he went deeper into the cave. It almost looked as if the cave had two exits and we could walk on solid ground for a while without sinking into the snow up to our hips with every step.
That was something.
I went a little faster to catch up with Michael, because he was a long way in front of me and the torch he was holding was the only source of light here in the cave.
I walked in silence next to Michael, every now and then I looked at him briefly and continued to look at him curiously.
To my delight, we walked slowly, which made walking somewhat bearable, even with my sore muscles.
"Where are we going?" I asked Michael after a while. This one smiled slightly."Let's see. At least first to the next village, your supplies should be as good as used up when we have crossed the mountains." He said.
I kept looking at him, almost a little amazed.
First, it was probably the longest thing he had spoken in one piece since I had known him, and second, I was a little surprised that he apparently had no goal. Michael looked ahead again, the smile disappeared from his face and he looked serious again as before.
We walked on in silence, but when my sore muscles were bothering me after a while, we took a break of about an hour.
Michael put the torch in a designated attachment on the cave wall, then we sat down.
In the meantime I had completely lost track of time, I had no idea what time it was, I didn't even know whether it was day or night.
We sat across from each other in silence and I nibbled a little on an apple, since I was hungry again from long walking.
I was a little startled when I suddenly heard a dull rumble and the whole cave seemed to shake a little.
Michael turned his gaze up to the ceiling.
“Just an avalanche.” He said calmly and looked up for a moment before lowering his gaze again.
Nevertheless, I looked around the cave a little nervously, but when the rumbling finally subsided and then stopped completely, and the trembling also stopped, I calmly ate my apple on.
Michael let me finish eating, then he got up.
"Come over." If he only said briefly, then he went to Nox, took the reins in one hand and took the torch again with the other.
I got up with a sigh and followed Michael and Nox through the dark cave. I stayed close to Michael as the weak light from the flame gave just enough light that we could see in front of our feet.
We walked on in silence, slowly I was getting a little tired. We walked for about half an hour, then Michael stopped again.
"I think that's enough for today. We'll go on tomorrow." He said, again he put the torch, which was meanwhile almost completely burned down, into a fixture on the cave wall.
He took the saddle and bridle from Nox, then handed me something to eat.
"I'll see if I can find some wood in here. Wait for me here." He said before I could protest that he just left me here alone, he had already disappeared into the darkness of the cave. I sighed and sat down next to Nox on the floor.
The stallion gave me a sincere look, then came up to me and bowed his head down to me. He sniffed at me curiously while I stroked his soft muzzle. I smiled slightly.
I got up and rubbed his neck, then got some food out of my pocket.
I ate, and meanwhile looked at Nox, who had meanwhile lowered his snout to the floor, and was sniffing the floor.
I kept looking at him.
He had to be hungry too, here in the mountains with the deep snow there was no grass to eat, and anyway not here in this cave.
I rummaged in my pocket for another apple, when I finally found one I gave it to him.
In a matter of moments, the apple was gone into Nox's mouth.
I kept smiling at him and finished my own food, then took a blanket out of my pocket and wrapped it around myself before leaning against the cold wall of the cave.
Slowly I felt my eyelids grow heavier. I blinked tiredly and forced myself to keep my eyes open.
At least I wanted to stay awake until Michael got back. I grabbed another blanket, which I also thought about, since it was getting pretty cool now that I wasn't moving anymore; even if it wasn't as cold for a long time as outside in the lashing wind.Blinking tiredly, I listened to noises in the cave, except for my and Nox's breath, but it was perfectly quiet. At some point, however, my eyes really did close and I fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.
*********************
When I awoke again, a small fire crackled in front of me.
I blinked briefly at the flames, as I sat up, I noticed that Michael had covered me with another blanket.
I looked around but couldn't see him anywhere.
Nox stood a few steps away from me and dozed, but there was no trace of Michael.
Only now did I notice that he had put breakfast in front of me.
I looked around briefly, then pulled the blankets around my shoulders again, as it was pretty cold without them.
I started to eat, when I finished my breakfast Michael still wasn't back.
I was slowly wondering where he was.
I wrapped myself tighter in the blankets and looked into the flames while I waited.
After a while, however, I heard footsteps, only and only a moment later Michael emerged from the darkness.
“Good morning.” He said while he put the pack of wood he had in his arms next to the fire, and already threw a few of the branches into the fire.
"Tomorrow." I said quietly and looked at Michal as he sat down on the floor across from me on the other side of the fire. He looked a little thoughtful.
"I was thinking, maybe it would be better if I teach you the basics of sword fighting so that you can defend yourself in an emergency." He said a little thoughtfully; then he raised his eyes and looked at me.
I was quite surprised, I didn't think he would suggest that to me.
Maybe it would be really good if he taught me that, then I wouldn't always have to rely on anyone.
Still, I had a lump in my throat and was a little nervous when I thought about it.The sword fight was not exactly safe, after all; but on the other hand it was better to be able to defend yourself at all. When I raised my eyes and looked at Michael, I noticed that he had been looking at me the whole time.
I nodded, if a little hesitantly.
"All right," I said.
"Well." He just thought and put the remaining branches in the fire. Apparently, he had no intention of starting my class right away.
That would be a problem too, at least for now, after all, he only had one sword. Then it occurred to me that I couldn't afford anything, I had got a little money from the woman to buy something to eat, but it would hardly be enough for a sword, and even if it did, it would be I can hardly buy some food anymore.
I scratched the back of my head, embarrassed, and looked at Michael. He seemed to know what I was thinking, he smiled slightly.
"It doesn't matter; I'll buy you one," he said. I looked at him in amazement and didn't really know what to say.
"Um ... thank you!" I said, and again I wondered why he was doing all this for me. Hardly
