Licht und Schatten

The world mirror

Jin was in the middle of a dark forest. Except for a few stray beams of light that fought their way through the thick tree canopy, there was no light in the forest. The rays of light illuminated the forest just enough that the girl could still see where she was walking. She followed a small white-blue bird to a small clearing, where she could take a closer look: the bird's body was covered with beautiful white-blue scales, which reflected the light in all possible colors of the rainbow. Only its wings and tail were feathered. The long white-blue tail feathers were more of an ornament than a navigational instrument for the bird, as it stalked around the clearing, showing them generously. The girl could still see four barely visible gills on the bird's neck. Jin was so fascinated by the bird's beauty and uniqueness that she couldn't take her gaze away from him.
Suddenly there was a loud roar through the forest. The bird startled and fluttered restlessly up and down the clearing. The noises that had filled the forest before were suddenly silenced. Fear crept over the girl: What creature could have such a loud and dangerous roar that it could frighten an entire forest with it?
The girl fixed fearfully in the direction from which the roar had come. Two menacing yellow eyes stared at her. Jin was overwhelmed by panic. She turned and started running in the opposite direction. She tried to get away from the creature as quickly as possible, but no matter how fast she ran and how hard she tried, the creature she was chasing was slowly but surely catching up with her. Jin noticed that the trees in the forest were scattering and spotted the edge of the forest in the distance. She managed to leave the forest, but shortly afterwards tripped over a stone and fell. The four-legged monster was now directly in front of her and bared its teeth. It was almost twice the size of Jin.
The girl jumped up and took a heel to the left, but the creature jumped swiftly after her. It was only too late that Jin noticed that the creature was driving her straight into a ravine. She still tried to brake, but kept sliding in the mud towards the gorge. Nevertheless, she somehow managed to come to a stop at the last moment. She looked down into the ravine and tried to see the bottom, but the light was gradually fading into total darkness.
Jin felt the creature's breath, which was now directly behind her, on the back of her neck. She turned hopelessly and looked deep into the creature's menacing eyes. This in turn bared her teeth and rushed towards Jin. While trying to avoid the four monsters, Jin slipped and fell into the ravine ...

"Noooooo !!!!!"
Jin sat upright in her bed.The cold drops of sweat still ran down her whole body.
“It was just a dream.” She sighed in relief and sank back into bed. "I've been haunted by this damn nightmare since my parents died!"
She sighed heavily and sat up again. It's best to take a shower first.
After showering and getting dressed, she went into the kitchen to get something to eat. She discovered an old photo of her brother, her parents and herself and sank into a chair.
For my 10th birthday we went to a zoo. I wished that for my birthday. That was a week before the terrible accident happened where my parents died. My older brother then looked after me until he went missing on an excursion a year ago. I didn't want to give up hope that he was still alive, but at Christmas he was declared dead. That was the saddest Christmas I've ever had.Since then it's been pretty bleak and lonely here.
Jin sadly lowered his eyes. "You can't do anything if you lose loved ones. You can never undo what happened."
She sighed heavily and tears ran down her face that gathered in the photo in her hand.
In a few months I will also have my 17th birthday. I will probably have to celebrate it alone.
Jin startled. "There was something!?"
A low whisper could be heard throughout the house. She put the photo in her pocket, got up, and walked out of the kitchen. She followed the voices to the attic. The closer she got to him, the louder the voices got. She opened the door.
"EGO VOS ADVOCO, OBSCURE VIRES, ..."
"What's here ...?"
Jin saw a shimmering blue light shining from the far end of the room.
"... QUOD IN MUNDO QUIESCUNT."
She walked slowly towards the point from which the light and apparently also the whisper came."VENITE AD MEUM ..."
Something was covered with a cloth, which made the bluish light shimmer slightly.
"... ET VIM MIHI DONATE MUNDOS ..."
Jin pulled down the cloth.
"... IMPERARE!"
The whispering stopped instantly.
Jin exclaimed excitedly: "A mirror !?"
The glass of the round mirror shone a light blue. Fascinated by the blue light, Jin examined the mirror more closely: At the top of the mirror glass was a red rose, which was decorated with beautiful curved lines. On the lower edge there was a small engraving:WeltenspiegelBelow it was also:Momiji & Sakura.
Jin put her left hand thoughtfully on the surface of the mirror. The next moment she caught the same bluish light that had emitted from the mirror. Shortly afterwards it was gone along with the bluish light. Only the empty attic and the mysterious mirror remained, which mirror surface now, like any other normal mirror glass, reproduced the interior of the room. But Jin was swallowed up by the earth.
