Changing from a wicked past to a safe future
little package was ...
He got up and took the package to him, he treated it as if something was very special. It became that for Chester too ... It made him happy, before maybe only his parents could have done it ...
He opened it slowly ... and the temptation was just as great this time as the first time ... again he wasn't strong enough to put it away ... he did it again.
It was those hours again ... the hours that made him forget ... what he had been through ... what pain he had to endure ... loneliness ... pain
But that was only for a few hours that made him forget about it. Chester looked at his package, which was now empty on the small round table. He immediately thought that he had to go to Charlie so that he could get more of it. He was no longer wondering whether he should? Is it good if he goes to Charlie? Or would it not be better if he stopped?
In half an hour he was standing in front of Charlie's apartment, which looked rather shabby and brittle. He rang the doorbell and Charlie immediately opened it and invited him in. In his apartment, Chester was sitting on what he thought was a very uncomfortable couch. "Charlie ..." he started. But Charlie interrupted him: "So you took it," he grinned. Chester nodded briefly, then left in front of Charlie: "So that will surely mean that you still need something. I can get you something, of course, but ..." Chester looked at him surprised. "But why? He asks him. Charlie laughed : "You're good, if you want that stuff for free, I'll go broke".
Chester hadn't even thought that Charlie would eventually ask for money for it. Chester wasn't particularly wealthy, his parents had always been pretty poor and he wasn't even working himself. He always had enough to pay the rent and groceries for himself ...
"You don't have enough money for it, do you?" Asked Charlie.
"Well, I could get myself a job, I already knew something," he replied.
"Okey, said Charlie, if that is the case, you will get the stuff back from me, but first I want to see the money, as if you can get a job quickly".
There was nothing more to discuss and Chester left Charlie's house. He couldn't really be a good friend, Chester thought the whole time, he's asking for money and I'm sure he's just taking advantage of him ...
Chester strolled through the streets and passed a coffee bar, where he paused for a moment and read a small sign: "Waiter wanted!" That would be exactly what he needed now, he thought. Chester went straight to the coffee bar and wanted to speak to the boss. He immediately made him an offer that he can start here as a waiter if he doesn't ask a lot of questions. The boss was rather busy and not very interested, he gave Chester the job and he should start early in the morning. Then the busy boss left the coffee bar and drove away ...Chester was really happy to get a job so suddenly, his boss seemed strange to him, but that didn't bother him anymore ...
He made his way back to his apartment and it was late now, he decided to go to bed earlier to be fit tomorrow. He set the alarm clock for six in the morning and darkened his apartment. After that Chester lay tired in his bed and soon his eyes closed and he fell asleep ...
