The first graders stood excitedly in the Great Hall and looked nervously at their schoolmates! An elderly teacher who looked very strict called them one by one and sat them on a chair. Then they got a hat on their head that proclaimed the future house of the respective student! Among the students was a little girl with long, black and red curly hair and a winning smile. She looked around fearfully, since she had grown up without magic, she didn't know anything about magic! Her newfound friend, Lily Evans, had already been assigned: She was a Gryffindor and was now sitting at one of the four large tables next to two other first years.

The girl looked at all four tables, the so-called Slytherins looked somehow unsympathetic, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff didn't really like her either, but Gryffindor, yes, she wanted to go there! “Nojiko Strife!” The teacher, Professor McGonagall, had called her! She gathered up all her courage - which wasn't much at the moment - and sat on the chair with her head held high. “Who do we have here?” She heard a voice in her head, was that the hat? "What do we do with you? You are smart enough for Ravenclaw, in Slytherin you would surely make a lot of friends ..." She was amazed, she didn’t want to go to Slytherin! That mean boy with the oversized nose who had stolen her hat was put there! "Dear Gryffindor ..." she thought, hoping the hat would grant her wish!

Meanwhile, down in the Great Hall ... Sirius Black was glad he was in Gryffindor! Sure, it was a break with family tradition, since all of the Blacks were Slytherins except him, but he didn't care. He sat next to James, Remus and Peter, three boys he had met and appreciated on the Hogwarts Express. The four of them were in the same house and this Severus Snape, with whom he had a heated argument on the way there, was in Slytherin!Now the house election ceremony didn't interest him, he joked with his new friends about the stupid faces of the other first graders and philosophized about Quidditch. But then, a name was called: Nojiko Strife. He didn't know why, but he was intrigued by her. He looked at the chair at the little girl with the long, black and red hair and the sweet smile. He hoped she would become a Gryffindor, under the table he pressed both thumbs very tight ...

"Gryffindor!" the hat now shouted loudly and loud applause started at this very table. She smiled uncertainly as she went to meet her new housemates. Next to Lily Evans there was nothing left, there were these two arrogant girls who Nojiko found absolutely unsympathetic. Where else could she go? There were four boys sitting there, next to the one with the black chin-length hair there was still something free! She asked shyly: “May I?” The four looked at her in surprise and then nodded! "Nojiko, right?" asked the brown-haired boy, holding out his hand. "I'm Remus Lupine and this is Peter, James and your neighbor, this is Sirius!" She nodded to each of them and secretly congratulated herself on their choice of seats.

At the Slytherin table, Severus Snape was sitting next to a tall blond boy who was a few years older than himself and was glaring jealously at the Gryffindors. Secretly he had hoped the girl would come to his house. He was fascinated by her, even if he couldn't find an explanation for it! He regretted being mean and wanted to apologize. But now she was sitting next to this arrogant idiot Black, with whom he had already clashed on the train! He had left his little friend standing on his head because he could already curses an incredible number of times. The boy next to him was impressed and wanted to know more about his abilities.

Finally the last student was assigned, the ceremony was over and the headmaster, an old wizard with a long silver beard, stood up and clapped his hands."One more moment of patience, my dear students! Unfortunately, Sirius was her only neighbor, so she stared into nothing. “Don't be offended, we meant if you came from a wizarding family!” She grinned a little embarrassed, that started well! "Um, my parents are wizards, but I've never seen any magic use so I don't know about the wizarding world!" James nodded and then smiled. They talked brilliantly the whole evening and agreed to meet for the next day after class to play some magic chess that Sirius wanted to teach Nojiko!
