Chapter: The secret
Stanley laughed madly and then shouted: “All I want in the world is Maike!” A white light began to shine around him, the three friends backed away fearfully and looked at each other. “What's that?” Sirius heard Sunny's frightened voice in his head, but he couldn't answer her question. But everyone knew it was dangerous. Suddenly Stanley winced and collapsed on the floor in front of them.
“Stan!” James tried to help but Sirius grabbed his arm with presence of mind. “No, don't do that!” Krone paused, but he wished nothing more than to help his friend, who was now writhing on the floor, screaming. “Make it stop, please!” He reached out his hand to the three of them, but the light separated them. It got stronger and stronger, thousands of little dots danced around the boy. “What happens to him?” This is the question every Marauder asked himself. "It looks ... as if it would be pulled into the amulet!" Nojiko herself didn't believe what she said but she knew it was true. This is exactly what happened to Stanley and they couldn't help him.
The thin little boy squirmed on the floor, blood ran from the corner of his mouth onto the smooth tiles and he screamed as loudly as he could. The balls of light began to collapse on him, faster and more violently. He screamed louder with every hit, his voice twisted in pain by now. His face seemed to be aging, he suddenly had dark circles under his eyes and his hair turned white. Or was it just the blinding light? Nojiko's heart was beating faster than ever, tears ran down her cheeks and she was trembling all over. She was terrified - for Stanley, who was one of her friends and classmates, and for the others. What if the light spread? How could they help him? She thought feverishly, but in her head she heard a relentless voice that scorned her with sneer: There is nothing more you can do, he has lost! The light grew stronger, so strong that they closed their eyes and only heard one last, desperate scream. Then there was an explosion, a wave of light suddenly unfolded, knocked the friends to the ground and filled the whole room. Nojiko heard thousands of voices in her head, pleading and pleading, she couldn't breathe. She gasped for breath, but it was no use. She would suffocate! Her fingers closed around her throat, the voices in her head kept growing! She couldn't take it anymore! She panicked and wanted to straighten up. Just get out of here, away from it all. But then, the amulet literally sucked the light back and the tortured screams disappeared from her thoughts. She gasped, panted heavily, finally she could breathe again.
Nojiko looked around, James and Sirius seemed okay too, but Stanley… "Where is he?" Krone ran to the amulet to examine it, but the other two held him back. "Are you crazy? Do you want it to be like him?" Hot tears ran down Sunny's cheeks, she still couldn't see properly and swayed slightly. The stars in front of her eyes began to clear and the image became sharper again. She got up too quickly in fear for James. “We have to get Dumbledore!” Sirius grabbed his friends and dragged them through the dungeon. While James was soon walking alone, Sunny stumbled several times and only Tatzes tight grip kept her from falling to the ground.
Everything was spinning in her head, had she really experienced that? There were still echoes of the voices in her head, her friends hadn't heard them! Or is it? Stanley, she felt the panic regain the upper hand. No, she couldn't let that happen. Dumbledore would save him, he could always turn things around for the better. “Chocolate frogs!” Nojiko gasped as she whispered the password. Her throat burned, her mouth was dry and her head ached like never before.Actually everything hurt her, every fiber of her body wanted only one thing: sleep! But they had to save Stan! The three stumbled up the spiral staircase and into the principal's office. The old wizard looked at her in surprise and at the same time extremely worried.
“What are you doing here at such a late hour?” He looked at the three of them, panting and exhausted, the girl was crying. “Stanley… an amulet… in the dungeon… come on!” Was all that brought the students together, but Dumbledore suspected something. He followed them as fast as he could and a little later stood in the hall of mirrors. “Stanley made a wish?” He sounded depressed as he picked the locket off the floor. "Yes sir. And then ..." James got stuck because the headmaster held up a hand to silence her. "I'm sorry ... I can't do anything more for him!" The friends stared at each other in horror. That couldn't be serious!
"But sir ..." Sirius was desperate, he looked pleadingly at the wise wizard. "I wish I could. This amulet has to be locked again!" He stepped forward energetically and hid it back in its old place in the statue. “Come on, I have to explain a few things to you.” He gave Nojiko a particularly concerned look and led the three of them back into his office. "Where should I start? Hogwarts is old, very old and I take it you are familiar with the founding story ?!" Nojiko nodded, still trembling. She had wiped away her tears and snuggled into one of the couches next to Sirius and James. "Well, I would have known this gallery that you found! I had a clue, but I wasn't sure. But now, poor Stanley!" The Marauders didn't know what to answer. They were too battered by the last few events.
"This hall was built long before Salazar Slytherin and his friends. It was part of an old, abandoned castle on the foundations of which Hogwarts was once built.Nobody knows who was the owner of this place, but one thing is certain: he had a lot of power, dark power. Behind each of the figures, it is said, a terrible disaster lies hidden, but the worst of all is the amulet. It brings back the dead and can give you someone's love, but it takes a cruel toll in return. "He broke off and looked at Sunny searchingly." Ms. Strife? "She nodded and began to speak." The souls, those who have made a wish - they are trapped in the amulet! "She heard it and knew the truth at the same time. But she didn't want to admit it, didn't want to give up on Stanley.
"Right, nobody knows whether you can destroy the locket or what happens then. Because it can only be destroyed by a particularly powerful wizard!" He added silently, someone like her, Nojiko. A mind reader who could feel the prisoners' pain. "I have to ask you not to talk to anyone about it - absolutely nobody! I will give the school the news tomorrow and inform the parents. Not even your friends should know about it, because the risk is too great. It seems to me that it has one almost hypnotic effect on everyone who desires something dearly, regardless of whether it is love or bringing a dead person to life! "
Nojiko, Sirius and James went back to the common room in silence, they had promised! They wouldn't tell Remus, Lily or Peter about it and keep the secret forever. Nobody could sleep, so they sat by the fireplace and stared absently into the flames. “We should find out something about the previous owner!” James sounded more determined than ever. The two nodded and Nojiko leaned back gently and felt Sirius' strong arms around him. He held her tight, she felt how she slowly stopped shaking and took his hand. He squeezed hers tight and so they sat quietly until dawn, each absorbed in his own thoughts and yet grateful for the company of the others.
