Chapter: What happens when the moon is full?
It was that time again, sullen and lonely, Remus Lupine walked the howling hut. His friends wouldn't be with him today and that hurt him! The transformation was very painful, but with a little help it became more bearable and he had the feeling; to keep some of his humanity. Still, he knew it was too dangerous for the other Marauders and had even asked them not to follow him. They would have risked it had secretly stood by him despite all the prohibitions and would have put their school career at risk. He already felt it start, he felt a thousand tiny needle pricks on his body and his head hurt worse than ever. With the last of his strength he got up and checked that everything was really well locked, then he let it fall on one of the sofas and tried to fight it as best he could. That was a natural protective mechanism that made the transformation even more excruciating!
Meanwhile, James, Sirius, and Peter sat depressed in the common room, this time under the supervision of Professor Slughorn. He was sitting in a corner, completely absorbed in his book and only occasionally peered a little over the edge of the page. Nojiko did homework, Lily sat around a table with Malia and Dilia and a few other girls and discussed. Sunny no longer spoke to her best friend's friends and therefore preferred to be alone. Sometimes you could hear footsteps in front of the portrait of the fat lady, it was Filch or the teachers who were on vigil again.
Remus screamed loudly, it was getting worse and worse, he couldn't take it anymore! He held his head in his hands, on which a thick gray-brown fur was slowly spreading! Soon it was over, then he was the murderous monster again. He didn't want to, he wanted to fight it, but it was stronger than him. With one last desperate scream, Remus Lupine turned into a werewolf! He only wanted one thing: out.His instincts were stronger than anything else, he was trapped and had to flee! A little sensible voice in his head tried to stop him, but it was too weak. The werewolf rattled the door, scratched, he threw himself against it as hard as he could until the wood broke. He fell through the entrance with a crack, splinters stuck in his body and burning like hell.
"What's wrong with you? You seem kind of absent!" Sirius looked out the window at the grounds and just shrugged. “I don't know, Krone, something is wrong.” He was worried even though he didn't know why! Remus was in danger, he could feel it very clearly. "You're right, we should be out there with Moony! But we can't get out of here ..." He looked around, Slughorn would notice and if not he, Evans would tell her. "It's not that, Krone! I don't know, either, but ... don't think I'm crazy: Moony is in trouble!" Sirius was deadly serious and when James noticed that he lost the usual amused grin and swallowed hard. “What do you mean, Padfoot?” But Sirius just shrugged and continued to stare out the window.
He looked around, it was completely quiet around him! That was unusual, the little human part of Remus Lupine realized. Normally at least the birds would sing, or had he scared them with his outbreak? Anyway, he wanted to hunt! The werewolf sniffed for a track, but smelled absolutely nothing! He ran into the forest, further and further, the hunting instinct grew stronger and stronger! There, in the clearing, was someone, he could smell it and he felt his instincts take over. Remus wanted to hold back, but he couldn't! It was just stronger than him!
The werewolf sneaked up through the trees to his victim, it was a man, maybe forty and strong. But he had no chance against him and Remus knew that.He wanted to turn back, but he couldn't. Suddenly he heard something rustling with his fine ears, it was coming from the other side! A sound he'd never heard before. Remus concentrated on the strange noises as tightly as he could. Then the man turned around, he too had perceived a threat. Remus was now completely defensive, the hair on the back of his neck standing upright and his fangs ready to repel any attacker.
Nojiko was sitting over her essay, the animal that Dumbledore had described on the blackboard was a hydra. She wondered what that could ever be used for, after all, these animals were extremely rare and almost completely extinct in England! Suddenly an icy shiver ran down her spine, she even shivered a little. What was that? She looked around, but no one else noticed! She finished her last paragraph, packed all her things and said goodbye to Lily and the Marauders. She wanted to go to bed and sleep as quickly as possible. She succeeded, but in her dream she saw Remus standing in a clearing in the forest, he was watching something ...
Remus winced when he saw his victim's face in the moonlight: It was Professor Monlos! He looked bad, his clothes torn and some bloody scratches on his face and arms. That had drawn him here, the blood of this person! The teacher was holding a wand, but it was broken! What was that supposed to mean? The person in him was confused, but the werewolf no longer interested his victim. The rustling came closer, it seemed to be everywhere at the same time! Left, right, it was getting closer, that was certain. Remus jumped out of the shelter of the trees and ran into the clearing. He had to flee because he felt that these noises meant danger!
The teacher looked at him and screamed in horror! Right, he was a werewolf ... He had to explain it to Monlos before he made a mistake! But how should he do that? Remus stopped, they were level now, directly across from them. He saw fear in his teacher's eyes, but it had nothing to do with the werewolf in front of him. No, it was more of a mixture of blind panic, horror and shock! He was trembling and there were deep blue circles under his eyes, the posture was stooped and the left foot stuck out strangely. Slowly Monlos raised his wand, the broken lower half falling to the floor. Remus heard the rustling, but he didn't care right now! He wanted to attack Monlos, burying his teeth in his flesh. He held back, or rather the werewolf, with all his might.
"Did he send you? No matter how many times he can torture me, I can't tell him!" Remus didn't know what was happening to him. The man raised his wand to eye level, whereupon he jumped into the air, ready for the fatal attack! “Stupefy!” Lightning bolted through the air and hit Remus right in the chest. He felt the pain, then crashed hard on the cold, wet floor and lay motionless.
Nojiko startled, was that real? Something similar had happened to her before, with Sirius. Her gift played this prank on her sometimes ... She had been on Remus' mind, seen what he saw and felt what he felt. Worried about her boyfriend, she jumped up. She wanted to go to the window, she had to find him! “Not so fast, young lady, where are you going?” It was Slughorn, standing in the middle of the dormitory and looking at her suspiciously. "It's getting late, you'd better go to bed, Ms. Strife!" She had no choice, she padded back carefully and pulled the covers over her head. Hopefully Remus is well, was her last thought before falling asleep.
When Remus woke up, the first thing he felt was a sharp pain in his chest. What happened? And why was he lying in ... grass? Yes, he was clearly in a meadow!Directly above him was the blue sky and if he moved his head carefully, then he could see the trees of a forest ... What had happened? He got up slowly and patted dirt and dirt from his clothes, then he saw it! He caught his breath, that shouldn't be! Panicked, he ran to a tattered cloak with a Hogwarts crest embroidered on the front. He picked up the black coat and felt his pulse quicken. The cloak was wet and cold, shocked he left it all again! His palms were red, blood red ... He looked at his feet, there was a big brown-red puddle around him! He was shivering, tears running down his cheeks and dripping into the pool of blood below.
Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around. Surprised, he looked into the faces of Dumbledore and Nojiko! "I ... I wanted that ... I am ..." He didn't know what to say! He was ashamed for what he had done and for not following the director's advice. He was also embarrassed about his outburst, he quickly wiped the tears from his cheeks with his sleeve. "It's okay, Mr. Lupine. Ms. Strife told me what happened. We know you are innocent." How could she know what had happened if he didn't even know himself. Dumbledore knelt and swallowed hard.
"This cloak belonged to one of our teachers, Professor Monlos. I beg you, none of you may mention anything about this incident at Hogwarts!" As he said this, he picked up the cloak and a piece of a broken wand and shook his head sadly. "But we can tell Sirius and James, right?" Dumbledore eyed his student thoughtfully and then smiled slightly. "You can't keep a secret from your friends anyway. All right, I'll give you permission, but only Mr. Black, Mr. Pettigrew, and Mr. Potter! "The two nodded eagerly and Dumbledore was satisfied." Go back to the castle, there is breakfast. "They quickly disappeared while the old wizard was left perplexed.
"How did you know? Wait a minute, what actually happened?" Remus eyed his girlfriend suspiciously as they ran back to the Heulanden hut. "I saw, you know, the gift ..." Then she described everything to him so that when they arrived at the shed, he knew everything exactly. “But you raged quite a bit!” Nojiko looked at the destroyed door and grinned broadly. “What worries me is the thing that was in the forest that attacked Monlos and his last words!” She sounded serious and sighed a little perplexed. "First he disappears from Hogwarts and now this! We have to find out what that was!" Moony had rarely been so determined, he pulled Nojiko through the entrance and the tunnel until they were finally back on the castle grounds.
A little later they were already sitting
