Completely bored, the girl sat at her computer and switched it off. In the chat there were only children with their ridiculous declarations of love to strangers. She looked around her room, turning around on her own axis. Sitting casually in her swivel chair, she then tipped her head back to stare at the ceiling. She ran her hand through her long jet-black hair and then closed her brown eyes. It was a warm late summer day - afternoon to be precise. The window was open and a gentle breeze crept in. The birds chirped their song and the distant downtown traffic let out nothing more than a hum. Then the peaceful calm was broken by a ringing followed by a long, morose sigh. “It's really hard to believe!” Annoyed, Kagome got up and trotted towards her window. Yes, Kagome was the bored girl with the black hair.
She put her hands on the windowsill and looked down into the courtyard. Immediately she put on a friendly smile and greeted the young man who had just rang the bell and was now getting off his bike. "Hello Hojo! What brings you here?" Secretly she rolled her eyes, because she could already guess what he wanted again. It was always the same anyway: a date!
The person addressed looked at her a little confused and then smiled. “But, Kagome, as soon as the vacation starts, you forget everything.” She thought about it for a moment, until she remembered. Hojo had offered her tutoring for the summer holidays and today was her first "lesson". Actually she didn't feel like it, but since she had nothing to do anyway ... "Wait a minute, I'll come down immediately!" And she was gone.Once at the bottom she went through the small hallway and then to the front door. When she opened Hojo was already standing in front of her and smiled happily as always. “Come in!” He stepped in and took off his shoes. Then he went with her into the living room and sat on the couch. “Do you want a drink or something?” “Hmm, maybe some water!” Kagome nodded and went into the kitchen. Learn and that during the holidays! She must have been drunk when she got into it! Besides, Hojo was always so pushy. Everyone always wanted to pair them up, but not with her! She got two glasses out of the cupboard, a couple of cookies, which she found more or less by chance, and a bottle of water from the refrigerator. ° Well, let's go! °
Meanwhile, Hojo looked around the room in which he was sitting. The sofa and a beautiful palm tree served as room dividers between the dining and living rooms. In front of him there was a small elegant table on which he put his things and opposite him a fireplace, which, however, was rarely used in summer, as it looked. Between more green plants stood shelves that were covered with many different books and folders and he recognized pictures on them. Family pictures, as he thought, but when he wanted to take a closer look, Kagome came back with drinks and biscuits. She put everything on the table, which now looked more than laden, and sat down next to Hojo. "So, shall we?" He nodded friendly and rummaged through his things. "Well, since you were away most of the time ... since you weren't there most of the time, I just brought my notes from the entire final year of school with me. I think we should be through with that by the end of the holidays." He pulled pulled out a thick folder and handed it to Kagome. She opened it and looked at a few pages while Hojo said something about the individual topics in between. But Kagome wasn't listening to him at all. ° Definition of pi ... what was pi again?Irrational ... Ir- WHAT ??? ° Her head was smoking and she just sat there for a whole hour and stared at the numbers. She only woke up from her math trance when Hojo suddenly got up. “What?” She jumped up, stumbled and fell, but was held by Hojo. “I said, I have to go now!” She still held on to him and tried to understand what had just happened. When she looked up, she was looking directly into Hojo's face. He held her with one hand and now put the other on her cheek to pull her closer to him. He was about to kiss her when she realized the situation and gave him a resounding slap, so that he let go of her and she landed on the floor. Angry and upset, she glared up at him as he rubbed his sore cheek. "Thanks, but it would be better if you go now!" She pressed out between her teeth and then leaned on her hands. Hojo looked at her a little disgruntled and then walked towards the exit. At last she only heard the front door slam and then it was quiet again. Kagome took a deep breath and then stood up. She had already told him that she didn't want anything from him and actually thought he had got it. ° Math tutoring, no date! ° She sighed again when suddenly the phone rang and she quickly jumped up. "Higurashi!" "Ah, hello Kagome! Nice that I catch you, today must be your lucky day." Today was really not your day: first Hojo and now ... "Oh, hello Kouga!" "I'm going for ne Week at the sea and thought that my sweet sugar snail would fit in the car. If you want, I'll take you with me! "His voice betrayed his self-confidence: arrogant and not a trace of insecurity. ° Sure, it's really nice of you that you invite me! ° "No, thank you, I don't want to disturb you two! Bye!" With these words she hung up, sighed again and slowly trotted towards the stairs that led to her room. The phone rang again and she paused for a moment. But then she shook her head and went on. Once at the top, she let herself fall on her bed. The rustling of the leaves and the singing of the birds soon let them doze off ...

“Mom, when are we finally there?” The picture blurs and everything happens as if in slow motion. A flash of lightning and everything is black. Clashing noises and screams everywhere. ° Where am I? What's going on here? ° Then she hears sirens and sees blue lights and flames everywhere. ° What is happening here? ° She hears voices, fuzzy voices and other strange noises. A beep, over and over again, then it gets more hectic. Everything is black again, just that horrible noise. Then she hears voices again, many voices and can recognize a lot. “We're losing him!” Then the beeping is replaced by a long, loud sound. "We didn't make it. I'm sorry!" Someone is crying, a woman! She starts screaming out a name. “Souta! Souta!” The same name over and over again and this terrible sound won't stop. "Piiiiiiiep" ...

Kagome wakes up with a loud scream and looks around confused until she realizes that she had screamed. She could still hear her mother's screams and the beeping in her ear. She was drenched in sweat and was crying. She looked around and saw that it was already dark. She shook her head to get rid of the noise and wiped her tears away with an uncertain smile. If she were to cry over a dream now, it seemed too ridiculous to her.
She quickly took a shower, changed clothes and then went to bed. But she couldn't sleep. She was afraid of having that dream again. It had been a year since the accident. She had gone on vacation with her mother and little brother. A driver fell asleep and drove on the wrong side of the road. He survived by failing to close his door properly. He had just been thrown out of his car. Kagome had always blamed himself. Her little brother really wanted to sit in the front and she said no, he was still too young ...
When she woke up from the coma after three months, she had been told that he had not survived. Her mother couldn't take the shock and hadn't spoken a word since then. When Kagome was little, her father was also killed in a car accident, and about two years ago her grandfather had died of heart failure. Her family was really unlucky.
Most of the time, her mother sat blankly in Souta's room, staring at his bed. Kagome had to pull himself together to take care of everything and had to swallow the pain. Most of the time he haunted her in her dreams, but she had learned to deal with them. Often she just wanted someone who could help her, who was there for her, who supported her, or who just hugged her in between and allowed her to cry. Hojo wasn't really useful for anything and Kouga had about as much sensitivity as an elephant. She tried not to think about it anymore and fell asleep late.

When she woke up the next morning, she blinked sleepily into the light of the sun. She had completely forgotten to close the window. She yawned heartily again, stretched, and then went to her window. It was a wonderful morning as it should be more often. But it didn't match Kagome's mood a bit. She had had bad dreams again and the prospects for her day were not exactly bright. But what should you do? So she changed quickly and made breakfast. Her mother was still asleep and would have breakfast later. Kagome had to get up early on vacation, too, because she had a few vacation jobs. One of them, for example, was the "Mikado" ice cream parlor, where she helped out.It was eight-thirty and her shift didn't start until eleven, so she decided to go to town first. She swallowed the rest of her bread, coughed briefly because she had choked, grabbed her bag and left the house. “I really need some new summer clothes and today's newspaper.” Mumbling softly, she walked down the street towards the city center.
When she got to the little kiosk on the corner, she looked at the magazines and rolled her eyes a little annoyed. "Good morning, Kagome. Same as always?" She looked up and smiled at the kiosk owner. He was a tall, plump man with a big, warm smile. He had known her since she was little. Back when she was six, she had received money from her parents and was allowed to pick up the newspaper on her own for the first time. She was so proud of herself that she told him everything right away
