Can I have a kiss?

Can I have a kiss?

[Kagome's point of view]

There we stood now. In the rain, in front of the well that means so much to both of us. He connects our times with one another, makes the impossible possible.
Inuyasha wasn't looking at me, he was studying the floor. He probably couldn't look at me after the decision my friends had made. I should go back to my time, because the last, decisive fight against Naraku was about to begin. They wanted to protect me, I knew that, but it still hurt. I had already said goodbye to the others and Inuyasha took me to the fountain to personally say goodbye to me.
I sighed briefly. It was so unfair! Sure, I realized that I would probably only be a burden if I faced Naraku with them, but I want to support my friends!
"Kagome ..." Inuyasha muttered and looked at me. Our clothes were already soaked through, but that didn't matter. Maybe it was the last time we'd see each other! Tears welled up in her eyes. My half-demon eyed me briefly, then took my hands and held them tight.

Excuse me for this
I just want a kiss
I just want to know what it feels like to touch

Suddenly it came over me. I wanted to be close to him, at least I wanted to know what I was going to miss! Apparently he felt the same because he let go of my hands and slowly ran my arms up to my face. He brushed my wet bangs aside so that he could take a closer look at me.
I hugged him tightly and sobbed. "Inuyasha ..." I whispered choked and pushed myself closer to him. He did the same, stroked the back of my head soothingly and took a shaky breath.
"My Kagome ..."

I'm unworthy
I can see you're above me

My head snapped up and my eyes stare at him. Did he just say 'MY Kagome'? Speechless, my mouth opened and closed again.

[i]Don't moveI want to remember you

After my amazement subsided a bit, I took his face between my hands and tried to memorize every single move. Inuyasha put his hands around mine and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath.
"Maybe you didn't notice, but ... you mean a lot to me, Kagome." He waited for my reaction. "Then let me stay here with you, with you!" I replied vigorously and hugged him again. "Please ..." I sobbed and buried my hands in his suikan.
He gently tore himself away from me and held me by my shoulders. "That doesn't work and you know it too. We just want to protect you." His voice grew lower and lower.
I stared stubbornly at the sodden ground. It was still raining.
"Kagome, look at me."
I shook my head and folded my arms.
“Kagome!” He was getting angry, I could tell from his tone of voice.
Inuyasha pulled me close and lifted my head by clasping my head around it. "You know that is not possible," he said a little more gently now.

[i]Don't move
It's only a breath or two between our lips

He stared at me, more precisely, he stared at my lips. Seductively I ran my tongue over this and saw how he swallowed uncertainly.
“Do it.” Frightened, he let go of me, looked to the side. I kept teasing him, amused. "I know you want it."

I see that you're torn

"You ... you should go. You're still getting sick," he said suddenly and looked at me firmly again.
"Okay," I just said. I was disappointed, this should be our farewell? I walked slowly to the well, in case he should change his mind. But he didn't. I slowly sat down on the wooden edge, made myself comfortable. I turned around briefly, waved to him and ... jumped.

[Inuyasha's point of view]

She just jumped! Just because! He was mad at himself. You asked him to just do it. And what does he do? As always, he doesn't dare what should happen? He was so incredibly stupid. She wouldn't come back either, he knew that. She was too proud for that.

I know why you left
I can't blame you myself
I tried to warn you
I've been a mess since you've known me
I can't promise forever
But I'm working on it

Inuyasha crept towards the village, but he didn't want to see the others now. He turned left and stood in front of the sacred tree. Sadly, he stopped in front of it while his eyes filled with tears. What if they all didn't survive the fight? He would never see Kagome again.
Kagome ...
Her laugh kept going through his head and a short smile crept into his face. She was his stand up man. She always made him laugh and tried everything to get him accepted. She stood up for him, and Kagome didn't care if he was a demon, half-demon or human.
"She loves you", someone suddenly said behind him. Startled, he turned around and saw Miroku. "And you love her too, everyone can see that."
"But what should I do? She lives in a different time!" He shouted angrily. "That would never work."
"How do you know? You didn't even try!"
Miroku was right, he hadn't even tried. Why did he give up so quickly? Otherwise he wasn't like that! "I have to see her!" He said suddenly and ran to the fountain. His friend smiled and watched him go.

On the other side he jumped out again. He smelled her tears and stepped through the open shrine door. He looked around briefly, discovered her on in front of the holy tree, as he had before. He approached her, heard her sob.
"Kagome ..." he whispered and a lump formed in his throat.
Frightened, she turned around and looked at him. Tears ran down her cheeks, her lips were slightly parted.Exactly these drew him under his spell.

[i]If I can't hold you
Can I give you a kiss?

He pulled her close, held her tight. He didn't want to let go of her anymore, but he knew he had to. He felt her clutching him and deeply sucking in his scent.
Very gently he pushed her a little away from him and, once again, clasped her face with his hands.

All I can give to you I will
Just promise this
If I can't have forever
Can I have a kiss?

[Inuyasha's point of view]

She smiled encouragingly at me. I slowly approached her beautiful face. Carefully, almost reverently, I felt her full, sweet lips on mine. How electrified I couldn't keep my hands off of her, pulled her even closer to me, wanted to feel them on my body. Her hands went to my ears and scratched me there. I gave a comforting sigh from myself. I will definitely never forget this kiss. With my tongue I ran calls between her closed lips. She opened it and we had a little fight.
A little later we broke up, breathing hard. Kagome looked at me sadly now, she knew that I would go and that she had to stay here. "Promise me that you will come to visit me full of life after the battle," she said. I couldn't promise her, after all, I didn't know if I would survive the fight. "Inuyasha ... promise me!"
She clung to me. "I promise," I said, hugging her.
All day long we kissed, caressed and admitted our mutual love. When I left, Kagome cried, but I would try to keep my promise.
