memories

Luna slept peacefully in his arms like a small child, the two of them had pitched a tent for the night and made a fire. After a while, Luna leaned against him and mumbled softly to herself. The years had passed after school, Toni remembered exactly.

For Luna, dancing had been more than just a hobby when she was offered a dance scholarship in the United States because she wanted to go. Her friends were important to her but she couldn't take them with her, you could see her sadness when everyone said goodbye. Colin had never loved Luna, he was only with her so he could annoy Toni, but she didn't know that and should never know. Back then at university there had been no other people between them, and no one could stop them. Until that day came when everything changed, at least for him ...
The snow had just fallen and the ice was frozen, school was over and everyone wanted to ice skate. Now Luna stood there and watched the others, during that time they had been more than friends. Yes, you could say they had discovered love for themselves, they wore rose-colored glasses, some said. Her gaze was not directed at the people with whom she saw day in and day out in class, no, they were directed at Toni who was doing his laps there on the ice.

This sight didn't let her eyes look elsewhere, she had realized that Toni meant more to her than putting him at risk in a relationship. Nothing should stop the two except themselves, the winter brought the snow but also the tears to the faces of the people.

"Something is wrong with Luna?" asked his voice. Luna shook her head and thought better of herself, after all, she loved him. "No, everything is fine." a smile graced her face. "Let's do something!" she asked with that smile. He looked at her and didn't quite know what to think of it, but his girlfriend should rarely be turned down. They sat snuggled together in their apartment, watched a movie and laughed with all their hearts.

Next to him something stirred very carefully that made him startle from his memories. "Did you sleep well, Luna?" asked he. Luna looked around confused, she didn't seem to know where she was. Then her gaze fell on Toni who looked at her kindly, she was with him and after a long time felt really comfortable in her own skin again.
During the night they shared one sleeping bag as the other had been eaten by moths. Just being with her was what he wanted, but was he allowed to do that? Toni wondered that the whole time until he fell asleep calmly with Luna in his arms. In the morning she was still lying on his chest and was probably dreaming something relaxing. But what it was could not be seen in her, Luna was locked even in her dreams but that made her the person she was.She had spent the entire weekend together, the boys were almost insane, but it was they who thought you had to put time into a relationship. "So what are we going to do?" asked T.K. in the evening in the round. "How about staying home and resting?" T.K. shook his head in the negative. The others were arguing about what to do that Friday evening, when Luna stepped into the apartment. "Lu please say you have an idea." the boys begged her as she looked into the kitchen. "First of all, and if you tell me what it's about?" she smiled around, and noticed that one was missing. "If you're looking for Toni, he'll be right there, he wanted to get something and he's gone again." she frowned. She sincerely hoped that he didn't do what crossed her mind when she thought about today. "So Lu, what do we do on a Friday evening?" she cocked her head and thought. "How about going to the disco?" the others looked at her. "Why didn't we think of it?" T.K. pressed Luna briefly and then looked out of the kitchen, the door had opened softly. "Tell me, Toni, what have you got there?" Luna looked around the corner and saw the box he was holding in one hand. "That my dear is not for you!" he answered.

He put the box on the table and greeted everyone. John opened the box and found a cake that said, "All the best, Luna." he looked at Luna and then at Toni. "Tell me what is that saying supposed to mean?" asked he. "Tell me, can't you hear?" Toni complained at him. Luna laughed so hard at this quarrel that even Tina, who rarely laughed with laughter, had to laugh. "What's so funny?" Asked the two of them. Luna stepped up to Toni, kissed him and then looked at the cake. "He looks good!" She said. Toni hugged her, tried to whisper something. "Happy Birthday, my darling." she snuggled up against him. "So what is the cake for." asked T.K. again. "Just eat a piece of it and then it's good." Toni muttered a little loudly.

Everyone sat at the kitchen table and ate from Luna's birthday cake, now the only thing missing was Toni's good mood but it didn't. He was so exhausted from work that he fell asleep in the chair with Luna in his arms. "Lu he looks really cute like that." stated the boys. Luna just grinned and looked at the rest of the cake and saw a small note on the bottom of the box. "T. K. can you give me the empty box, please." she asked. T.K. took out the rest of the cake and passed it over to Luna. "Did you discover something special?" she shrugged and looked at the floor.

Dear Luna,

I know it's cheesy and especially old-fashioned, but what the heck.
A while ago I thought you would never come back and now hope has become certainty. This certainty makes me think of things that are far back in the past.It is easier now than it was then to understand why we did all of this, and yet I always wanted only one thing. You.
Now that you're here again, I can't get enough of you, every day I spend with you drives me to do everything better than I did then. And no matter what, I'll be with you, the long wait was worth it.
You have changed a lot, but that kind of change should be like that too. If you're reading this, the guys probably ate all of your cake because I couldn't stop them.

In love, Toni.

PS: I won't let you go anymore !!

The boys looked at each other, and the girls thought their part. Luna turned to him in his arms, put the box under the chair. Her hand was on his cheek, he was still sleeping without noticing anything. A kiss you could envy Toni for, he opened his eyes in surprise, when Luna peeled away from his face he was confused. "What's happening?" he just whispered. Luna put her head on his shoulder, closed her eyes, and seemed to remember.

Her birthday was different back then; she had flown to America 3 years ago. She had left her friends behind, her supposed love, and now she was sitting here in his arms. The arms they held when their parents died and when she found out about Colin. Toni had always been there, was her best friend and her true love, that became more and more clear to her from moment to moment.
"Lu what's up." she looked up. "That's fine." she smiled. "So what do we want to do?" Luna asked after a while of silence. "Take your suggestion to heart and go party." everyone grinned. On a Friday evening you should treat yourself to a bit of fun, everyone thought and got ready to go out.

Luna tied her hair and then turned to Toni who was sitting on the bed and looking out the window. "Something wrong?" she asked softly and sat down next to him. "No it's all okay." he said. She swung onto his legs and looked into his eyes. "You don't look like it, though." gave her back. He put his arms around her, pulled her close, looked into her eyes and kissed her. A kiss that was both sensual and connecting, love shouldn't be put to the test, especially if you've waited so long for it.
