Fanfic: Divided Blood

Chapter: Life is getting more and more complicated

My notebook was blank, just blank and white, just like my head. I only had a few minutes to finish, but I haven't even scribbled the date. I drew circles on the blank sheet of paper with the back of my pen. What the heck, I thought to myself. Then Kyle is a half-vampire. Who cares?
I cared. The last few days, when I already knew what, or rather who, he really was, changed a lot. He didn't touch me that often anymore, he barely held my hand. When I talked to him, we both tried to appear normal, but it was like a glass wall between us. It was like I had lost a part of myself, the part I couldn't live without. It wasn't love, it was something different and more solid that connected both of us earlier and now was suddenly gone. Every time he sat down next to me when he greeted me, I was shocked, which made me feel guilty. Hurting him was the last thing I wanted to do, but there was no other way. He was particularly offended that I was only afraid of him, only of him alone, even though I was surrounded by so many dirty bloods every day.
The doorbell rang and I handed in my empty notebook. Mrs. Launay stopped me.
"What's the matter with you Takara? Every day you get worse and worse." She talked to me so suppressively that I started to feel bad.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Launay," I said squeaky. Her expression softened.
"You know that if you have problems, you can always turn to me." Of course, I thought to myself. If I told her the full story, she would just send me to a psychiatrist, or even to the hospital.
"It's okay, Mrs. Launay." I walked quickly out of the classroom. I was glad I got rid of them. At the end of the corridor, Liss was already waiting for me. She grabbed my arm and pulled me into the cafeteria. I tried to fight her grip, but she was stronger than she looked.
"Where are we going? We haven't had a lunch break yet." Liss laughed.
"But Cassandra! You will see!" I thought about it and my blood froze in my veins. I tore myself away.
"You're not going to ..."
“Hey?” Liss looked at me for a while, then understood what I was thinking. Her laughter filled the corridor. "No you silly, I'm not going to pulverize her or anything! It's just a small, harmless prank." I followed her suspiciously and we entered the cafeteria.
The three sisters were already seated at a table in the middle of the room, giggling and eating. Actually, they talked more, you couldn't really tell. I and Liss sneaked to a table not far from them and sat down.
"Take care.", Liss whispered with a smile. She made a kind of wave with her hand. I made small slits in my eyes and concentrated firmly on the table. And indeed! The table leg began to shake and move slightly, but the noise was drowned out in the large room.I looked at Liss, who was concentrating very strongly at the moment, you could tell by her. I looked around, but no one seemed to notice anything. Everyone was sitting and eating lively, so I looked at Liss again.
"Look," she whispered. I looked at the table of the three sisters and couldn't believe what had happened, it was just going too fast! Before I knew it, Cassandra and Gina were sitting screaming and tossing the spaghetti off their blouses. Ayumi stood by and was torn between sympathy and a fit of laughter. I looked at the table leg that had previously trembled. This was torn in two pieces and was lying next to the table. The sound she had set in their direction had simply torn the table leg apart. Just because! Without much effort! Cassandra and Gina screamed the whole school together.
"Who was that !?" cried Cassandra in terrible anger, getting up and threatening the crowd. Gina got up too and looked around. Almost the whole cafeteria laughed. Ayumi turned elegantly to me and looked at me hatefully, whereupon I started back a little. Liss took my hand and pulled me to the hallway, where she then stopped laughing. I hated to interrupt her, but I just wanted to know how she'd done it.
"What did you do? You just ...!" I said. I sounded more frightened than I actually was, which affected her response.
"Don't worry, it's just sound. It won't harm anyone! I can only do that with objects ..." She laughed.
“So was that your doing?” Tucker appeared behind her. He had crossed his arms and looked sternly. His piercing gaze had changed a bit, there was something terrifying about him. He was probably in the cafeteria and saw everything. His eyes were cold and still angry. Liss turned to him.
"Oh come on, you deserve it."
"You could have put us all in danger, do you realize that?" He shouted in a threatening tone.
“I didn't, so everything's fine.” Tucker touched his head.
"It's not good, Liss! What would happen if you found out who we are?"
“Do you always have to get so upset?” The argument started. I didn't catch much of the words because they weren't just discussing the incident in the cafeteria. They quarreled like an old couple. You really should have seen that. Because I knew that Liss didn't notice me anyway, I went to the next lesson alone. I was already too late because the hallways were almost completely empty. But I still didn't hurry. It was just nice to have time to yourself. This really cleared my mind. Liss' words haunted my head: I can only do that with objects ... But people are objects too, aren't they? The fact that I could be in place of the table leg made my stomach turn a lot. I had already thought that Liss was strong, but I really hadn't imagined that she was that strong. Was she more dangerous to me than Kyle? Should I stay away from her? Question after question, but no answer and no one to ask these questions to.
On the home straight to the classroom there was a table with mostly just plants that were constantly being knocked over by the Raudis. Leaning against this table was someone who looked very familiar to me, from a distance. The blouse was white, the skirt brown. The hair was elegantly black and very long. She raised her head, got up straight and walked towards me with the gait of a model. Her gray eyes sparkled despite the dim light. I stopped, and so did she, at the safe distance of about two meters. While we were silent, I looked at her face where this was my first chance. She was very pretty, so pretty that every girl would be jealous at the sight of her. But it looked very familiar to me. Not from her, but as if I had seen it somewhere else before.
She took a deep breath and then walked past me. I turned and watched her go. She stopped again, turned to me and smiled slightly mockingly.
"I know that it was your little friend who played the prank. Better tell her to stop before something bad happens to her." In response, I nodded in shock. She went on and disappeared around the right corner, in the direction of the sports hall. I turned around, slightly frightened, and let her lovely voice play in my head again. It was crazy to think of her threat, but her voice was beautiful. It wasn't too deep, not too high, not too childlike, not too grown-up. Just perfect! That voice just rang in the ears, but you always wanted to hear it. I shook my head as if to shake off my thoughts and quickly made my way to the room.
When I opened the door, I met with a terrible noise. Most of the boys danced on the tables to loud music from the CD player and the girls either joined them or they formed groups and whispered, which seemed almost impossible with the noise. I looked around and saw Kyle sitting at my table. When he smiled at me too, my heart jumped, because it felt like everything was like two weeks ago again. As soon as possible I sat down next to him and he explained the "party" to me:
"Mr. Mauren is not there and they couldn't find a substitute."
"I thought so" I smiled, which strangely was very easy for me, despite my stress from the last few days. It was really as easy as it used to be. Strangely, all of a sudden. Kyle propped his head up with his left arm and questioned me.
"You were in the cafeteria today, weren't you? What actually happened there?" I wanted to start, but Tucker cut me off.I hadn't thought that it was so quiet that we hadn't noticed it. He sat in front of us without turning the chair and turned to Kyle.
"Liss! That happened!"
“Oh no!” Kyle's relaxed demeanor tightened. It looked like it wasn't the first time Liss had done this. Tucker gave me a stern, piercing look.
“Why didn't you stop her?” I opened my mouth, not knowing what to say, but Kyle stood up for me.
"Leave her alone! She can't help it!" It annoyed me a little that I couldn't have a say, but I couldn't do much about it. Tucker took a deep breath. Tucker knew he was right, and so did I. I also thought that if I had known what she was up to, I might stop Liss. Tucker continued:
"I noticed something about Ayumi." Kyle laughed:
"What? That you never get it?" Kyle laughed again and Tucker angrily tossed my eraser at him. They seemed like children to me. I smiled too.
“Now listen!” He bent down to us so that we could hear him better when he whispered. "When Liss let the table crack, Ayumi was sitting next to Cassandra. But half a second later she was already two meters away from the table. Something is wrong, I can tell you." Kyle protested:
"Maybe she's just being fast! You never know."
“Or some filthy blood.” They both looked at me when I realized the words were coming from me. Tucker smiled. He must have liked that I agreed with him.
“That was my theory too.” He looked at Kyle, but Kyle made a strong argument, which invalidated our theory.
"Tucker, think about it, we're talking about Ayumi! Cassandra's sister. The Ayumi, who we have known since first grade. If she were filthy, we would have noticed it a long time ago. We're not that stupid!" could argue for a long time, but it was true. Even I, who haven't been familiar with dirty blood for that long, can imagine that you can hide your powers from people, but not from other
