Chapter: Billing

He waited motionless in the thicket, paying close attention to his surroundings. Nothing escaped his attentive eyes, he memorized every detail. So that was it. The mountains. The place where the villain was last shown and where, according to information from some yokai, he was initially in hiding.
Today he would get it! He had trained for it for years! Years of effort, years of setbacks, years of thoughts of revenge. Oh yeah! He had already imagined several times how he would kill him, Naraku.
Should he get it over with quickly, surprise the opponent and thus win the fight? Or would it not be better to defeat him slowly, to make him suffer for what he had done to all of his victims?
He opted for the latter variant. Oh yes, he would make him suffer!

Resolutely he continued on his way, creeping through the tall grass. He was good at sneaking up and hiding. After all, he had to cope on his own for the last few years and was not allowed to be caught or eaten by anyone. This is what made him so good at it.
The sky darkened, dark to deep black clouds came up. A distant thunder rumbled. There would be a thunderstorm today. The perfect moment to kill your enemy! He had already brought too much disaster all over Japan! Hardly anyone dared to stand against him. He already had northern Japan under his control, and he also wanted to seize the eastern part. But he wouldn't let that happen! No way! Only over his corpse!
A flash of lightning. For a split second, the entire place shone, all living beings flinched. Briefly this glistening light brightened the place, let a brief glimpse of his face, which was hidden under a cloak. A cool, hateful look lay on his eyes, which were directed forward.

A second lightning bolt followed, struck an old oak tree to his left. This fell with a loud crunch of the wood, which had caught fire, in his direction. Still facing the mountains, he just jumped up, landed briefly on the oak, which had almost smashed to the ground, and then quickly jumped away before the old tree hit the ground with a deafening crack.
So now he jumped down the cliff on which he was, and let himself fall. As a result, he came dangerously close to the abyss in which a raging river was raging. In between some rocks, against which the roaring water hit. Shortly before he would have hit it upside down, he was able to turn on the fly, now landing his feet on one of the slippery rocks. If it hadn't held on, it would have slipped and fallen into it.
Now that he had survived this, he continued on his way, jumping from one rock to the next. Always careful not to fall into the water and get carried away by the raging currents.
It wasn't long before he spotted a higher ledge. Immediately he went to his knees, put all his strength into the next jump and jumped up with all his strength, still holding on to the ledge to pull himself up. As soon as he had done that, he could discover another lead, which he reached immediately with just one jump. And there was another!
After he had climbed the fifth ledge, the ground unexpectedly broke away from under him, so that he could just hold on to the rock wall with his claws. So now he was hanging there, threatening to lose his footing. In addition, his claws hurt more and more because he had rammed them into the rock so as not to slip off.
Then he could see another ledge a few meters to his right. Would he reach him? He dared to jump for a moment, letting go of the rock and just landing on safe ground. He took a short breath. Now he still had to dare one or two jumps and he would have overcome this rock face, would now be on the other side of the gorge.

After he finally had safe and solid ground under his feet, he allowed himself a short break while he glanced at the mountains. From here he could already hear the huge, angry aura. That could only be Naraku! So he continued on his way.
Halfway there came three yokai towards him. Had he been discovered? The first, a snake yokai, came straight out of the air and opened its mouth. He dodged the attack with a skilful jump, so that his enemy rammed the ground with full force instead. Annoyed, the snake twitched back, briefly spat out the earth that it had in its mouth.
The second yokai, a mole yokai, also attacked. For this he buried himself underground, wanted to attack the enemy from below. He paused for a moment and looked around. The mole had disappeared underground and the snake was about to attack again. He needed an idea. Briefly he closed his eyes, could feel the presence of the mole yokai. This was now directly below him, about to attack. The line hurried off too.
Now! With that he jumped in the air, out of the line of fire. From the air he could still see how the mole came out of the ground, made a claw attack, and at the same moment the snake rushed over. And what had to come came!
The snake that actually wanted to hit him now caught the mole and injected its poison into his body. In return, the mole, which had not expected it, had rammed its claws into the heart of the snake. And at the same moment both fell dead to the ground. A grin crept onto his face for a moment. These opponents hadn't been very bright before.

An attack from the air frightened him, just dodging to the side. The third enemy, a dragon yokai, had fired a lightning ball at him. This bullet hit the ground, leaving a large crater. He immediately realized that the moment was not the right time to triumph. He had to get out of here! Because he couldn't catch the kite from here! Not while it was in the air.
So he ran on, careful to avoid every rolling ball. From a distance he could see the mountains while an idea occurred to him. That was it! If only he could get to the mountains in time, he could finish off the enemy and instead focus on the real culprit. So he ran on, despite the fact that his body was already weakened from the maneuvers earlier. His legs ached, his pulse quickened, and his lungs seemed to explode.
Another ball lightning struck right next to him, causing an enormous pressure wave that carried him away. He bounced painfully, couldn't stop himself from lying there for a moment, dazed. No! If he lost now, all the last few years would be in vain! Now the kite arrived too, flew straight towards him. He quickly rolled to one side, and in the next moment he quickly stood on his feet to avoid the attack of the dragon with a dive.
Now he ran towards the mountain, jumping up the steep cliffs with the last of his strength. The dragon yokai noticed this and fired another ball lightning, which hit the mountain. He quickly jumped to the side, just dodged the ball and fled further from the dragon by jumping down from the mountain. Hopefully the dragon would follow him! That would be his grave!
The dragon, which had exactly this in mind, followed its victim, flew into the cloud of smoke that had caused its ball lightning. The dragon did not notice that with the last ball lightning it had caused a hole on the side of the mountain, which was now threatening to collapse. And it came as planned: The collapsing peak of the mountain buried the giant dragon yokai alive.Satisfied, he now saw the collapsed mountain, from which there was no more movement. The dragon was dead! Now he just had to regain his strength, and then he would leave again before reinforcements or something came along.

After a few minutes' walk he had reached the highest mountain, the top of which was surrounded by a mist full of miasma and therefore no longer recognizable. Here it was! Naraku's hiding place! Here he would be able to find his enemy and then give him his just punishment.
So he jumped up the mountain, lead by lead. Always towards the summit. His goal!
The miasma literally embraced him, he tried briefly to hold his breath, which didn't really help. It became harder and harder for him to jump the closer he got to the summit. The miasm also bothered him. But he couldn't give up, not after he was so close to the goal. And neither would he!
After an endless while, he had also achieved his goal. He could see the summit in front of him, and the miasma also subsided. Now he was in the center of the evil aura, in the middle of which a castle stretched. So he made the last big jump and landed right in the courtyard. He looked around without a word.
Not a soul far and wide, which did not surprise him. It was impossible for any human to live here, let alone animals. Even normal yokai would die miserably within a few days, so he couldn't stay here for too long! So he headed for the main entrance of the castle, went straight to it, his hateful gaze directed at the door.

With one blow the wooden door was broken in two and now landed on the floor, while individual fragments whirled briefly through the air. Dust swirled up briefly. After this had passed, he entered the castle, stopped after a few steps.
A few meters in front of him he could see a person sitting in the dark, whose laughter filled the entire room.Around this person lay several skeletons, human but also demonic. A shudder ran through him for a moment when he saw the skeletons while he was thinking about then.
A lightning flashed in the sky, making it shine bright red through the miasma. The inside of the castle also shone in a garish, dark red and revealed the laughing person. Red eyes and a sinister smile graced his face as he looked at his visit. Long, black hair fell into his face while he held a pink jewel in his hand: The Shikon no Tama.
He had covered his body again with his baboon fur, and didn't see the need to wear his special new, armored body - which had given him the jewel. Even though he knew someone was on their way to his castle. Was he so sure of his victory then?

"Naraku!"
Hatred was reflected in his voice as he looked at his enemy, who smiled darkly at him, not even now seeing him as a serious threat. What for? Naraku had the jewel, knocked out almost
