Chapter 7: Return

Heiji slowly crept to the door. The noise from outside had subsided considerably by now, and he figured he might now dare to open the door.


But someone got ahead of him.

The moment he tried to open the door, the handle was slowly pushed down from the other side. Since it was a somewhat older building, it opened, even if only a crack, with an ominous creak ……… James got up immediately and held his weapon at the opening door, while a weapon through the other side as well Door gap was pushed.

All of this happened in a few seconds, in which no one dared to utter a single peep ...

At the same moment that James unlocked his gun, the door was thrown open very suddenly.

"!!!", said Heiji and James at the same moment, stunned, while the professor only gave an irritated"???". Ran, on the other hand, was the only one who didn't seem surprised at all.

When James finally wanted to say something like "What are you doing here?" and "How can it be that you are still alive?" or similar dubious questions, Shuichi motioned for him to be quiet immediately.

He looked terrible, James thought. Shuichi had a big burn on one cheek and he looked even grimmer than before, even though James had once been sure that it was no longer possible to look grimmer than Shuichi Akai, but if he saw him that way now, he could he just couldn't help but be shocked.

Shuichi, on the other hand, didn't seem at all surprised to find them all in this place, he motioned them to follow him slowly while the others stared at him in disbelief.

Outside in the hall it was cold and empty. A sniper rifle and a machine rifle leaned against the wall, along with countless cartridges of various calibres on the floor, and a dead figure in black in a corner."What the hell happened here?" Heiji asked suddenly.[b]"PSSSSSTT !!!"[b]everyone else shouted at the same time because Heiji had almost yelled his question. But immediately afterwards James asked the same question again, albeit at a reasonable volume, although he felt a little pissed off because as the head of the whole operation he had no idea what was going on in his base.

"Later.", Shuichi whispered, and they slowly turned a corner from which apparently the call had come before, and from where one could only hear a quiet conversation now.

Shuichi motioned for them to wait a moment and then turned the corner. One heard a short whisper, and then Shuichi said in a normal volume: "Okay, you can come."



When Ran came around the corner, the first thing he noticed was a very angry man, whom they thought afterwards when Agent Camel recognized, who was just about to sneak another slightly skimpy agent, while a rather sweaty Shinichi tried him to calm down.

"Now stop it!" Shinichi suddenly called. Apparently his patience was broken. "You know very well that it wasn't his fault, I'm worried too, but if we don't keep a cool head now, both of them will die without us being able to do anything!" he said urgently. Obviously he hadn't even noticed that Ran and the others had joined them.

Camel seemed to have calmed down at last, although he still looked quite angry, he had at least let go of the other agent named Morris.

"All right then." he brought out. "I'll leave him alone, but ... if he makes such a mistake again, then ..." he shouted a little more angrily, but Shinichi prevented him from finishing the sentence by simply grabbing both cheeks pulled. "AU! Ditch the nonsense, if wede….:" Was all he brought up in that moment when he was interrupted again, but not by Shinichi, but by James Black."Camel, what's the nonsense, you camel?" James asked sternly.
Great sense of duty, immediately awakened in Camel the deep inner desire to salute immediately, although he did not think that Shinichi was still holding his cheeks, while he was standing behind him, which had the consequence that Camel, who was in favor of this action jerked upright again and jerked up his hand including his arm. As a result, he lifted Shinichi slightly, which suddenly pulled his cheeks much longer, and the pain factor increased accordingly. This in turn triggered the reflex in Camel to bend forward jerkily to get rid of the annoying weight from his back, which Shinichi hurled forward over his back, Camel's cheeks only deforming even more, but to Camel's luck, Shinichi thought now finally to let go of it. He landed Elegant and said with a grin: "That wasn't very nice, couldn't you wait to salute before I let go?" He was glad to have another reason to make a little joke. They really needed that in this situation.

This whole action was so extremely funny, despite the circumstances, that everyone else (even Shuichi) couldn't help but blow loudly, especially Heiji and Ran could barely get into each other. Heiji because he was really happy to finally see Kudo in his true form again, all the more because he had just pulled off a really funny number, and Ran because she had had to go through so much in the last two days that she was happy with a reason to To have a laugh, and at that moment she was really overjoyed that Shinichi was fine.

That same person now became aware for the first time that there were other people against him, and he turned to them in surprise. Real relief crossed his face.

"Ran! Heiji! Professor!"Are you all right?" He asked genuinely concerned, and was with them in no time. "Are you all right? ", he added immediately, even before anyone had the opportunity to answer.

"Yes, everything is fine." Ran answered so suddenly and firmly that Heiji and Shinichi were really surprised. She had a lot of questions and wished very much to be alone with Shinichi for a while. To tell him how much she had missed him and how happy she was that he was back to the way he was before.

But above all, she wanted to know why he had lied to her for so long.

She was sure he must have had a good reason, but she still wasn't quite sure what to make of everything that had happened.

"I ran ..." Shinichi wanted to start straight away, but she interrupted him: "It's okay," she said soothingly, "We can talk when this is over". He stared at her puzzled for a moment, but then nodded. It was good not to have to explain everything right away, even if he himself wished very much to spend a little time with her in peace.

"So…." He started a little unsure. "I don't know if Akai told you that .." he turned to James, "But Miss Jodie has been kidnapped, we suspect she was taken to the same place as Ai".

"I see," said James, sounding professional and absolutely calm. "I don't suppose anyone has any idea where this place might be, do I?" he asked the group.
Since everyone present said no, he sighed deeply. "Well, then we should ...", he started straight away, but was then interrupted by a melodic and slightly arrogant voice that seemed to come out of nowhere:

"Well, if that is the case, I can certainly help you a little ..." said a figure dressed in white who was slowly floating down to you from the darkness .......
