Chapter: A girl in a barrel

I blinked, I was still sitting in the much too narrow barrel. How did I get there? Quite simply, I've been a prisoner of the Navy for 5 years, why? Because my father was a pirate and hid a huge treasure. In any case, 2 soldiers had put me in this barrel to get me off the island where the navy had just stopped. Probably the fools thought I was going to tell them where the treasure was. I had to smile at the thought when I suddenly heard voices. But it wasn't the voices that put me in this barrel, they were different.

"Damn it, Mike, we're not allowed to go to the barrels, even the Kepten hasn't looked in yet !!!" said a sour voice "Oh come on Nico, don't wear your shirt! I just want to know why two marine idiots are not guarding a barrel anymore!". I caught my breath while I slept, the barrel must have changed hands. Damn it! I stared at the lid, spellbound.

But the men were interrupted by a crash and they ran out of the room. I started moving and kicked the lid as hard as I could and it gave, but not without an ugly crack. I jumped out of the barrel and looked around, I was in a dirty storage room. There was rumble and laughter above me. I stared at the door and instinctively hid behind a couple of barrels when the door opened.

A man with fiery red hair stepped in and started on the broken barrel. "Who has been tampering with here again?" he asked and looked at the inscription on the barrel "And also a barrel from the Navy, great!" he cursed and staggered outside. My heartbeat recovered and I tried to breathe slowly, I mean I was on a pirate ship, otherwise there was nothing to worry about. I waited another 10 minutes until everything was calm, too calm. I went to the door and pushed it open as quietly as I could. The corridor was empty, at the end there is a staircase leading up to it. A small beam of light fell through the hatch and I walked slowly and quietly up the stairs.

I was in another corridor. There were some pirates lying here and my breath caught for 2 seconds. But on closer inspection I realized that they were all completely drunk and slept. With a little lighter heart, I walked down the aisle. But suddenly I heard a groan and the next moment I looked into a blood-smeared face. I couldn't help but shriek out loud, then behind him I recognized the originators of the wound, men of the navy. I turned on my heel and ran in the other direction. Then I stumbled into someone and was thrown to the ground. The man looked at me briefly, then the frozen marines.

"Get up we're under attack!" he called and suddenly there was movement on the ship, then he grabbed my arm and pulled me into another room."Stay here for now!" he said and went back outside. Rumble, screams and then laughter like only pirates could do. I quickly went to one of the windows and looked to see if I could open it, but no result, I was locked in. There were murderous pirates in front of the door and the sea below. I decided without further ado for the sea and looked for something that I could use to open the window.

The room was large and carpeted with numerous shelves with maps on the wall. The large oak table stood in the middle of the room and a bed by a corner. Then there were other cabinets. There was a gap and a hole in the wall between the door and the cupboard. I leaned down and reached through. But it only led into a small cavity. I was just looking around when the door was opened, the red-haired guy stepped back in. "Come out little one!" he said when he closed the door.

"Come on, I'm not hurting you!" My gaze fell on the door, I scurried over at lightning speed, but before I could press the handle, two strong arms grabbed me and lifted me up a bit. "Let me go!" I yelled at the ruffian. This laughed and turned to the redhead, "A little tomboy" said this and looked at me with funny black eyes. The guy let me down but continued to hold my arms. "So what are you looking for here?" asked the redhead.

I looked down
"Hey!" the guy behind me hissed and shook me slightly, I winced and pressed my lips together. "It's okay," said the other, "what's your name?" he asked instead, "Don't you introduce yourself first before you ask someone about it?" I asked sweetly. He raised an eyebrow then smiled "Of course, sorry, my name is Shanks and the guy behind you is Ben"
