Fairytales
My adventure begins
Fairies are magical beings that have magical powers. You can only see them if you believe in them. People who don't believe in magic will never see anything magical either.
Yes, I believe in magical beings and yet I have never seen a fairy, elf or unicorn. My family thinks I'm crazy, as do my friends, if someone like that can be called a friend at all.
"Hey Lina! Are you reading that silly book again?" Asked my "friend" Isabel.
I got up with a sigh and closed the book. I had just crawled into my favorite corner of the school library and I was disturbed again while reading.
"This book is not silly! How often should I tell you? And besides, I haven't read a single time today because I'm always disturbed!"
"It's good. I'm just worried about you. You distance yourself more and more. You only read your books and in class you look dreamily out the window all the time.", Isabel said with a certain concern in her voice .
"Oh Isi please. We have chewed through the topic so often. I don't distance myself and I haven't gone crazy either! There are very much magical beings!", My voice shot up an octave, I was so angry again.
I said this once again with full conviction. But I had little hope that maybe I could reach them this time. Then I noticed the other students in the library listening to us and faint laughter coming from every corner.
"Lina ... It really doesn't make sense anymore. Sink into your imagination and read until you fall over! I don't care ... we're done together!", She yelled at me and stomped away angrily.
Great ... now I had also lost my last girlfriend. I wasn't very sad, but it was funny nonetheless. Was she right after all? No! I shook my head wildly and sat back in my corner. The other students were still looking at me. They were probably just starting to gossip about me again. But I didn't care ... should you do what you can not help ...
I opened the book again and carefully ran my fingertips over the brightly colored paintings. I was fascinated by them. How I would love to be a fairy, then I could do magic and would be beautiful. Well, I wasn't ugly either, but just average. My long, brown hair, which I mostly wore open, didn't particularly shine and always fell boringly down my back and shoulders. I wasn't one of the Barbie dolls like many at our school who just stood in front of the mirror and had nothing better to do than complain.
I also hardly ever applied any make-up. I had very good, smooth, beautiful skin and thick, full black eyelashes that always looked like they had been painted.I didn't have a boyfriend yet. Here at my school there were only idiots who acted like toddlers or those who looked good were already taken. But most of them just wanted nothing to do with me ...
After that school day was over, I made my way home. I strolled down the sidewalk. The cars sped past me. Countless crowds came to meet me every now and then. Certainly there was a special sale somewhere again or there were enthusiastic tourists who couldn't wait to hit the shopping mile. Unfortunately I lived in a big city. In New York to be precise! I hated this city. There were always car accidents everywhere, the next crime lurking around every corner, dirty streets, those many tourists from all over the world who visited this metropolis or these lavish celebrity events. There was always something going on in this city, but just too much and too loud for me.
Our apartment was in a prefabricated building. My mum was unemployed and my father had a low income, which was just enough for all of us to live on. Besides me, my parents had two other children.
There is my big brother Jared. He is 20 years old and was just training to be a sound engineer. It will be quite successful later, I was sure of that. And then my annoying little brother Justin. He is the baby of the family at just 5 years old. He's part of the reason I preferred to be at school rather than home. He annoys me pretty much every day. I couldn't expect any support from my brother because he was rarely at home. Of course, my mum always protects him. I had always wished for a sister, as you can now see, unfortunately nothing came of it.
I took the elevator to the 1st floor. At least there was an elevator in this old, ramshackle building. It would also be very tedious to drag up my two bags with the many books. I usually had two bags with me. In one there were my school books, notepads etc. and in the other were my beloved books that told me everything about magic and its essence. Ever since I got stuck in the elevator, I've always been a little afraid to use it.
When I got to the first floor without getting stuck, I went straight to our apartment door. I dug my key out of my school bag and unlocked it.
"Hey mum. I'm home."
"Hello Lina. Food will be ready soon."
I took off my light jacket and hung it in the hallway cloakroom. After that, I went to my room and put my bags down. When I went into the kitchen, I was already met by a wonderful smell. There was paella, my favorite food. Justin was already sitting in his seat, impatiently waiting for the meal. He rocked back and forth in his chair while I set the table."Can't you just sit still for a minute?" I asked him, slightly irritated.
"Nope!" He replied cheekily and went on cheerfully.
"You little..."
"Lina! No more! You shouldn't always annoy him.", Mum had once again sided with Justin.
I rolled my eyes and started to eat.
"How was school today?"
"As always ..." I just said, like every time she asked me about it.
"Nothing special happened?"
I choked on a piece of chicken and started coughing vigorously. When I took a sip of water, it went again.
"Well ... Isabel and I are no longer friends ..."
"What? Why not?"
Mum was very fond of Isabel. She was so gifted in everything she did and so smart.
"The old / everlasting topic." I replied.
Then all of a sudden my mother's mine darkened.
"Lina! Your silly stories! Magic and all that nonsense. You drive away all your friends. That's crazy! At some point you'll be all alone!"
"I already am ..." I got up and left.
"Have you finished eating?" My little brother asked me.
"I've lost my appetite ..."
I went into my room, slammed the door with a swing, so that it banged really nicely and then locked it. I headed for my big, beautiful bed and dropped onto it. Yes, I was already standing alone in this world on both feet. No support from anyone .... My friends have let me down, as have my family, except maybe Jared. And just now I was being called crazy again.
"Why doesn't anyone believe me?", A tear rolled down my right cheek, which I immediately wiped away. I pulled the book out of my pocket, which I had already read at school. I looked at the pictures dreamily again. Fairies were so incredibly beautiful beings. They had such bright, bright eyes, velvety wings and shiny hair. And they were HAPPY!
So I hid in my room for the rest of the day. And then it was finally evening. I changed, brushed my teeth (unfortunately I had to leave my room quickly to do this) and finally went to bed. I always looked forward to sleeping ... I always had beautiful dreams. I wasn't sure if these dreams had any meaning or if they came purely from my imagination. I often had the same dream.
I was in a magical world. A lot of little fairies around me. And I was in a kind of lock. It was snow-white and had tall, pointed towers. Right in the middle of the large front garden was a large fountain. Then suddenly everything was black before my eyes. But the darkness passed again and a bright, glaring light came to the fore, which blinded me terribly. And every time before I woke up, I saw a beautiful diamond. As in my dream today, which ended when my alarm clock rang. My hand clapped limply on the annoying thing, making a terrible noise. First I went to the shower to really wake up. Then I put on my school uniform and packed up my school supplies, as well as my book bag. My food for school and a bottle of water were already ready in the kitchen. That also came in my school bag and a short time later I was out of the house.
Now everyday school life began again for me. I was one of those teenagers who loved going to school. For me, holidays were one of the worst in the world. I then had to endure my family all day. We didn't have enough money to go on vacation. Actually a shame ... B like to have been to California, Florida or Egypt. At school I was the typical loner again. Isabel didn't even look at me, just like my other ex-girlfriends didn't. Like I said, I didn't care. They weren't friends.
Unfortunately, I only had a few hours today. After the 5th hour it was over. But I didn't plan on going home yet. I heard there was a new bookstore near the school where you could buy and borrow books. I wanted to stop by there, which I did without thinking too much.
I didn't know exactly where the store was. So I had to search or ask myself. But nobody could help me. When I had been looking for the bookstore for an hour, my motivation slackened. Both of my pockets got heavier with every step, so the empty bench was just right for me. I sank down, exhausted.
'Where was this shop?'
In my mind I went through the path that I took.
'Did I miss him?'
I stared at the New York traffic. Apparently there was a little traffic jam and the drivers were honking their horns as if they were stupid. I remembered how much I hated New York. I was still watching them blankly when suddenly something small, blue, glowing appeared in front of my face. I blinked like crazy. What was that? I looked around in confusion as the light disappeared. Then I looked back at the street, where the traffic jam still never ended. And then I discovered it again! The small, blue, spherical light that wandered to the other side of the street. I grabbed my bags in a flash and ran across the street without even thinking about the traffic lights or the police.
