Fanfic: Der Gesang der Wölfe

Chapter: The dream

>> Where am I? <<
There was nothing around me, except complete blackness.
My hands felt around, but found nothing but cold and damp ground.
What was that night for?
Neither the moon nor the stars could be seen.
>> How do I get here? <<
How did I get outside? Who brought mi
ch here?
I didn't remember anything. My head ached as if I had been hit hard on this one. Panicked, I felt the painful area. My hair was a little disheveled and obviously a bit of dirt had found its way there, but nothing was damp and sticky. Which meant I wasn't bleeding.
I tried so hard to remember what might have happened, but I was horrified to find that I couldn't remember anything at all.
>> Who am I? <<
I straightened up. My knees were weak and my heart was racing. I felt trapped in this darkness.
It was night It had to be night But where were the moon and stars? I didn't understand.
I was out. Clearly. I had to be outside somewhere else where did the cold come from?
But when I was outdoors, why didn't I hear anything?
It was black and deathly quiet around me. I felt trapped in a nightmare. I turned several times around myself in the dying hope of discovering a glimmer of light somewhere, in vain. The world stayed black.
Cold panic crept into my limbs and I felt the freezing cold slide down my spine and felt like someone was walking over my own grave.
Had I suddenly become blind and deaf?
I spun in circles again. There had to be some clue. Somehow I had to find out where I was.
I took a few small steps insecure and felt like a little child who was just learning to walk. My hands kept groping for something tangible. A tree, a bush, anything.
But everything around me was empty.
Suddenly I heard something. A sound like the rustling of the wind in old trees. I spun around, startled. It seemed like an eternity to me that the last time I had heard something. Somewhere deep down I was grateful that I wasn’t deaf after all and that I could still hear.
The next feeling that rolled over me was nothing but cold panic again.
Then why hadn't I been able to hear anything the whole time before?
There was the rustling of the leaves again, closer this time.
My heart skipped a moment before resuming double speed.
Confused and panicked, I kept turning in circles. What was there?
Something was there in front of me. I could hear it and I even had the feeling of perceiving a silhouette, but I thought it was just spinning.
Why should I be able to see something now when I haven't been able to see it all along?
The sound came towards me.It got louder and louder until I realized it was a low growl that I heard. Whatever was coming my way, it had left its hiding place in the bushes and was growling at me.
I hardly dared to breathe.
Then I saw it. A glow in the dark. Two piercing yellow eyes that fixed me.
*It is nearly time.*
Startled, I looked around. Who had spoken there? Was the voice really there?
* Soon you will understand. *
At the moment I didn't understand anything. That voice seemed to come from everywhere and yet nowhere. As if it only existed in my head.
>> What ...? << I started to stutter before the creature made a leap towards me.
