CHAPTER 1 - To Cologne as a couple
It was a beautiful, sunny day, I was sitting in my favorite dress on the stone steps of the veranda and watching my father bring a large, golden lamp from the moving van into our new three-room apartment. I had asked him a couple of times if I should help him carry our furniture, but he kept shaking his head so I gave up.
I was just looking forward to our new life - just father and me!
I've wanted to move for a long time since my mother died. I just couldn't take it anymore in our old house. Of course it was hard to leave all my friends behind, but it would have been even harder to live in her house without my mother and then there were all the bills that father could no longer pay.
It's been six months since she died and yet I think of her every day: in the morning when I wake up and in the evening when I go to sleep.
It is very difficult to live without them!
When I looked up, Father was bringing a large mirror into the apartment.
I found my feet were asleep and slowly stood up to stretch my feet. Since I had nothing else to do anyway, I went to the new apartment to have a look at it.
When I stepped into the freshly painted, new hallway, I thought only one thing: This is going to be a beautiful life!
From the hall I went straight into the living room, where father was just putting up the big silver mirror.
"That looks great, father!" I exclaimed enthusiastically as I examined the room more closely. It was papered in orange and the floor was made of packet. There were a few pictures of Mother on the wall and there was an orange and yellow sofa next to the door that fitted in perfectly with the room. Almost everything in the room was either orange or yellow - even the candles!
"Do you think so, Sarah?" He asked.
"Yeah, sure!"
I sat down on the sofa and looked dreamily at my dress.
I loved my pea green ruffled dress, even though it was pretty short. It was just beautiful and it was a great fit for me! It also went great with my white ballerinas, each of which had a pea green bow attached. It was my absolute favorite outfit!
As I let my eyes wander around the room again, I wondered if my room looked as good. I wanted to check it out right away, so I jumped up and went into the hallway. Father had told me that my room was on the second floor, so I looked in vain for the stairs.
But when, by chance, I entered the new kitchen, I found the large wooden staircase: It was in the study, which was directly behind the kitchen. Through the door I could even see the red carpet that was laid on it.
I went up to the second floor and looked for my room. The first room when you came up was a large bathroom, I went in while looking for my room that was right next to it.I was shocked when I entered. It looked so great that I didn't even know what to say. The walls, like the living room, were papered orange and very beautiful. In the far right corner there was a light wooden bed with orange and yellow bed linen - orange had always been father's favorite color - and in the opposite left corner was a large, light desk, also made of wood. On the desk was a modern computer, a desk lamp and a large folder with pictures of Mother in it. There was also a chair in front of the desk and next to it was a large wardrobe with a mirror.
It was actually all I needed to start over!
That was the first chapter ^^
