I quickly brushed these thoughts aside, after all we had a mission. And that was also my first 'real' mission. Under no circumstances should I hinder her. When the sun sank lower and the surroundings turned red-orange, we made our camp. Kakshi took some food out of his pocket and laid out the sleeping bags. The rest of us should look for firewood in the nearby forest. Only Rin stayed with Sensei in the camp. Sasuke broke up with us shortly after we were in the forest without a word. Sakura immediately dived after him. Naruto nodded briefly to me and then went on his way, I stopped a little lost. The red evening sun that shone through the treetops gave this place a cozy touch. Vulona had already withdrawn into my mind when we began our mission, it had become too boring for her. So I ran on in silence, picking up a few dry twigs here and there. With my arms fully packed I wanted to go back to the camp, but the sun had set in the meantime and it was pitch dark. I hadn't noticed it at all. With luck I try the direction I thought I was coming from. But soon my vague memories faded and I was completely lost. From then on I guessed where to go and after what felt like an eternity I discovered the edge of the forest. I sighed in disgust. The others had discovered me and came towards me. It happened as it had to, I fell past and landed face first in the damp, leafy path. In the process, of course, I lost the wood that I had collected with great effort and it spread around me. Fortunately, no one could see my shameful face now. "Hey, what took so long? Oops, everything alright?" A blond something bent over me. Naruto.
"The little one is of no use, and that's what a ninja wants to be. She doesn't even manage to look for firewood. She's not even worth being called kunoichi."
I winced, that last sentence, my father had said something like that in my dream.

I got up slowly, keeping my head down to hide my emerging tears. Nevertheless, everyone present saw how the salty drops made their way over my face to the floor.
"Kari?"
I ignored the confused Naruto, but just went back to the camp, where I sat down and stared into the fire which Kakashi-seinsei must have kindled with the firewood of the other three. When the others got to my place, I was asleep and Vulona was right next to me. They decided not to wake me, had a quick meal, and then went to sleep too.Sensei had his Nin. ken as kuchiyose to keep watch.
My sleep was not restful, I had the same dream as the previous night. It hurt, hurt terribly. I didn't want to see it all again. No more hearing the child's scream, my scream, no longer seeing the fearful contorted face.
"I don't want to, I don't want to. Stop it, someone will make it stop." By shaking my arm, it was possible for me to leave the dream. But when I opened my eyes again, the man's words echoed and the baby's screams echoed in my ears. It was Naruto again who freed me from my nightmare. His azure eyes looked at me so worriedly. I only knew this kind of look from Vulona-oneesan. The blond boy crouched down next to me and hugged me. This gesture gave me support and comforted me. "Why aren't you sleeping?" I whispered in his ear. "I woke up and couldn't sleep any more," he whispers back so quietly. “Come with me.” He carefully pulled me to my feet and led me a few meters away from the camp. The hind only gave us a look. Naruto sat down on a rock at the edge of a small stream from which Seinsei had probably fetched the water earlier. Reluctantly, I sat down next to him. We sat in silence for a while, until Naruto's voice broke the night silence. "What was your nightmare? Maybe it helps to talk about it."
After a brief reflection, I reported about my dream that seemed to be a memory. At the beginning I spoke hesitantly, getting lost, but over time my sentences became more and more fluent. He had been right, it was really good to tell everything. The Uzumaki listened in silence and never interrupted me. When I finished he came closer to me and a finger gently touched my face. He gently stroked my cheeks. I cried again.
"You Kari ..." he began hesitantly. "Yes?" "Well you know ... since you've been in Konoha I've had a strange feeling in my stomach. My heart is beating fast ... but I don't know why, do you know?" "Naruto-kun ... I, I feel the same way and Onee-sama said it was love. "" Love? "I nodded. "If that is so, I suppose I love you Hikari." "W- Really?" "Yeah. When we went back to the camp, we saw Pakkun grinning, the next morning Senei would know everything about our conversation. When I lay back in my sleeping bag, Vulona gave me a quick look, she could guess what had happened.
The next morning was uneventful, only that Kakashi kept looking at us knowingly and Naruto grinned more than usual. But then a group of ninjas appeared out of the blue. Immediately Sakura, Sasuke, Naruto and I went into defense to protect the princess."These are Chu-Nin from Otogakure.", Kakashi stated soberly. One of the ninjas said, "Go Marine, get her ready, then we can grab the princess." "Sure." The girl named Marine stormed towards us without paying attention to Sensei and pulled out a kunai while running. I wanted to swerve to the right, and as if she had known that, she ran through the gap on my left to Rin. “That was easy.” How did she know where I was going? Can she ... "... read minds? Yes, I can." Marine held Princess Rin in her grasp and sprang back to her seat with her. Kakashi had pushed up his headband and activated his Sharingan.
