Chapter 5: 'HE is not afraid of me.'
It was a wonderful day. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping and flying across the deep blue sky as if painted. Suddenly a shot rang out. Shinoah filled pain. Not because she was hit, but because someone she cared about fell to the ground. She didn't recognize who it was. The many chirping birds turned into crows and everything went dark. Someone pointed a gun at her. He pulled the trigger. Shinoah raised her hands protectively in front of her face and looked forward through a small crack. Suddenly a person jumped in and the bullet hit him. She couldn't assign a name to this person either, but she meant a lot to her. Pain filled her heart and her stomach contracted. With her left hand she grasped the ring, which she wore as a chain around her neck. Then it was pulled away by a rough hand and everything went black. People suddenly disappeared, she fell deep. In the middle of nowhere. She wanted to scream, but she couldn't.
Shinoah woke up drenched in sweat. She only dreamed. But what kind of strange dream was that? Did it mean anything? And who is warning these two people? She had seen them before, they seemed familiar to her, but still she didn't know who it was. And the ring, from the dream, was in fact dangling around her neck. She embraced him, as she had done in her dream. It didn't seem so golden for a long time, but it was still the same. Her thumb brushed the slightly uneven edge of the ring.
Her gaze wandered to the red wooden clock that hung on the wall above the sanded desk. 22:32. She got up and put on a long black T-shirt. Then she slipped into her knee-length beige Capri pants and looked for her black chucks.
Quietly she opened her door and padded to the small kitchen, from which she took a small piece of bread, from which she broke off a piece when she went out to the front door and closed it quietly behind her. She quickened her pace until she was far enough from the house. Sometimes she was really scared of Jaiko. Why couldn't she run away? Why had she never fled from him? How so?
Then she decided to go towards the beach. 'Maybe I'll run into Ace by chance ..' she thought briefly, but immediately banished that thought. 'I'm not allowed to think like that. 'But why actually? She didn't know the answer to that herself. But she hadn't felt like this for a long time. There was only a small spark of light in the darkness that always filled her heart, but she still felt a little warm.
Ace was lying on the beach snoring loudly. His right hand rested on his hat that was lying next to him, and his black knee-length pants were dusty from the sand. After talking to the girl, he first had a decent meal and then went to the beach. There he lay down by the sea to first digest properly and then fell asleep.
Shinoah was walking along the beach, her feet in the shallow water. Fortunately, Jaiko hadn't noticed how she had snuck out of the house. Although, actually she was allowed to. At night, when there were few people around, she would much rather be outside than during the day. She never went out during the day. Whenever she met someone, they would just run away screaming or fall to the ground trembling. 'I think that's what I like about Ace. He is so different. HE is not afraid of me. ' She smiled.
Then she saw him lying asleep on the beach. He snored softly. It would have bothered her with anyone else, but not with him. Yes, as I said, she loved the black-haired man. Smiling, she walked up to him, sat down next to him and watched him for a while. His beautiful black eyes, his freckles that scattered irregularly over his perfect nose, his lovely lips and his well-toned chest. With her fingertip she brushed the hand that rested on his hat, down his arm to his chest, to the place where his heart had to be. There she lingered and repeatedly 'drew' a heart there with her fingertip.
