Chapter 6: Midnight Snack

For a while, Shinoah just sat there, touched Ace, and watched him closely. She even found herself imagining what it would be like to kiss him. How it would be if her lips rested on his, what it would be like to have his face as close to hers as it would be to feel his warm breath. She liked the idea. She leaned slightly over him to take a closer look at his freckles. Her long black hair fell over his face, and it almost looked like Ace was smiling in her sleep. She found it somehow fascinating. She found what it triggered in her, however, even more fascinating. He made her happy. She had heard that word so many times, had often imagined what it would be like to be happy, and finally she knew it. Then she lay on her back next to Ace and stared at the sky. The stars sparkled like thousands of precious stones and in the midst of this star tangle was a huge yellow round full moon.

Ace woke up. He yawned loudly and then was startled to see Shinoah lying next to him, staring at the stars. “Morning.” Shinoah smiled at him. "Hey! Have you been here a long time?" He looked a bit ashamed at Shinoah, because he had slept the whole time. (Oh, just for information, so you don't think they're always asleep here: Shinoah actually sleeps during the day, that's why they only meet in the evening and so:]) "Only about half an hour." What would Ace think of now you think She turned away so he couldn't see her blush. "Oh." Ace whispered and lay down again and stared at the stars. Then his stomach reported. "I'm hungry," he said with a laugh. Shinoah smiled. "I would give you something, but unfortunately I have nothing." "No problem. But now," he said and stood up, "First we are looking for something edible!" "Where do you want to get something to eat at this time? It's the middle of the night, all the bars are closed! "Shinoah looked at him skeptically. Ace ignored her argument and headed for the city with a growling stomach. Shinoah stared after him, confused.
Once in town, Ace walked towards a house where the lights were still on. When he got there he knocked loudly. The door opened and a closet-like man opened it. “What do you want?” He looked slightly annoyed at Ace. "Good evening! I wanted to ask you if you have something to eat for me." He grimaced. “You mean you're begging?” The man took a step towards Ace. "Well .." Ace didn't get any further because the man hit him in the stomach with full force and Ace was thrown away a few meters. "Don't ever show up here again!" The man yelled and the door slammed shut with a loud bang. So it went on with a few houses, at the end of the street there was a small house. He knocked and an old lady opened the door.“Good evening.” “Can I help you?” She looked confused at the stranger. "Yes, you can. Would you happen to have something to eat for me?" As if on command, his stomach growled. "Oh, I'll definitely have a little bit left for such a hungry young man." She gave him a friendly smile. "Thank you very much! You are my salvation!" Then he took a step into the small house of the woman while she went into the kitchen to get some food. He looked at the barely furnished room. Then he sat down on a small bench that stood with 3 other chairs at the dining table. "It's very cozy here!" he called to the old woman. This came from the kitchen with a small tray in hand and placed it on the dining table in front of Ace. On the dining table there was now a loaf of bread, a piece of cheese, and a small piece of meat. “I'm sorry, that's all I can offer you.” The woman smiled and her pronounced laugh lines drew together. "No problem! The main thing is that I get something in my stomach!" With these words, Ace broke off a piece of bread and stuffed it with some cheese into his mouth. "Dwaffs tastes really good!" Ace said to the woman with his mouth full.
He enjoyed it and when he had finished everything he got up and politely thanked the woman. Then he went out into the street, waved to the woman again, and walked back towards the beach with a full stomach.
