Darkest forgiveness

Bree looked into the black eyes
and looked at the red dots
that shone like stars around the iris.
No soul, the boy whispered to her.
Blood dripped from his mouth. No pain.

Chapter 1.

Something had changed. The night suddenly got deeper. The stars brighter, every breeze sharper. I didn't know what it was, but I felt it with every single fiber of my body. My hands, which were clutching an empty plastic cup, began to shake and I heard the fine material crackle miserably under the pressure of my fingers. My heart fluttered quickly in a dark premonition that I couldn't understand with the best will in the world. I closed my eyes and dug my fingernails into the soft skin of my palm. Somewhere in the distance a loud, auspicious crow's call rang out that penetrated me to the core. It seemed to get closer and closer, more and more screeching, more and more painful, and finally reached me in the same instant as a pleasantly familiar voice.
"Bree?"
Startled, I jerked back, suddenly back in the present. For a few seconds my gaze flitted confusedly over the playground, which was plunged into darkness, until he finally fixed himself on the owner of the tuner.
"Briana!"
Worried, Elle Morgan, my best friend, put her hand on my shoulder and looked at me.
"Are you okay?"
Still slightly foggy, I nodded and touched my head.
"Yes ... well it's a minor thing, not worth mentioning," I replied with an uncertain smile
You could tell from Elle that she certainly didn't think my strange mood was a trifle and that a serious conversation was waiting for me after the Halloween party we were at. Without comment, she pressed her beer bottle into my hand.
"Drink!" she asked me.
Obediently I took a sip while Ellie, that's what we called her because Elle was too impersonal, sat next to me on the park bench.
"Thank you" I said and handed her the bottle back.
We looked at the packed square in silence. It was October 31st, and my entire grade group gathered here in the old city park. Only at least they really wore costumes, even though it was Halloween today.
I watched my friends tease each other, laugh, drink and just have fun for a while. I was proud of myself. This party had been my idea and it seemed to be in full swing.Despite our surroundings.
Because the nocturnal park was not illuminated and so we were surrounded by deep darkness.
And it was precisely because of this darkness that I first thought I could not see properly when my eyes glanced at a black-haired boy.
"Who is this?" I asked Ellie irritably. This party was only for the eleventh grade of A.J. Dimond High School.
But she gave me a puzzled look. Then she pressed her drink into my hand again.
"Drink!"
I rolled my eyes.
"I'm serious! He doesn't belong to us!"
"Bree, hello? This is Eathan! In our parallel class B since the beginning of high school!"
When I looked at her blankly, she took the bottle from me again.
"Okay, dear, better no more alcohol for you today!"
I clicked my tongue in disapproval. As if it were the alcohol! I hardly drank any.
"Ellie, I'm the year-old representative - I know everyone here! But I've never seen him!"
Ellie shrugged hopelessly.
"Let's go over to him," she suggested and pulled me to my feet.
Meanwhile, Charlie Stone has joined him and the boys talked.
"Elle!" shouted Charlie in his cute Australian accent and theatrically held out his hands to her.
Ellie skilfully slipped under his arms and instead hugged this Eathan while grinning cheekily at Charlie.
However, he turned to me without hesitation.
"Briana!"
I smiled at him and let him hug me.
"Well, guys? Are you okay?" I asked as I broke away from Charlie with his arm still loosely around my waist.
"Yeah ..." Charlie muttered and buried his nose in my curls like he always does.
A stupid old habit that Harvey Crane will probably never get used to.
"Uh!" Ellie grinned and straightened up. "Christopher has just arrived up there, I'll go over ..."
And she was gone.
Charlie's fingers moved nervously on my middle and he whispered.
"Christopher is not alone" he leaned even closer to me "Didn't you say Harvey isn't coming?"
I jerked around and stopped breathing in shock. Forgotten was that strange Eathan and Charlie's hand around me.
His gaze found mine and my heart stopped for a second, as it always does when he looks at me.
And when his eyes let go of mine, something happened that would end my happy life forever ...
He was with me so quickly that I barely noticed his movements. He roughly grabbed my upper arm and pulled me away from Charlie as far as possible.
With a quick look back, he assured himself that Christopher had also drawn Ellie to him protectively.
"Who is that, Bree?" he hissed at me softly and pointed to Eathan, who eyed us suspiciously.I was amazed for a moment, then pure relief spread inside me. Thank goodness I'm not crazy and I'm not drunk either. This Eathan isn't in Eleventh, at least not on Dimond!
"Eathan" I said anyway, "I'm glad you don't know him, because everyone else seems to want to kid me. They say he goes to our parallel class!"
Harvey's gaze sharpened as he gazed unabashedly at Eathan. And before I even realized it, he was with him.
"Get out"
It was the only word he said, but it was enough to make my knee shake. Again I had that strange feeling that was a little different that night. I felt it with every millimeter of my skin, down to the tips of my fingers.
"Right away" I heard Harvey say and looked at the two boys. I wanted to tell him to stop. Sure, this party is just for us, but I thought Harvey was overdoing it. At least he could have been nicer. So I was just opening my mouth when my gaze touched a pair of black eyes.
Suddenly the noises became quieter, while a terrible, never-ending hiss filled my head. My body felt weak, like I was about to collapse. Everything around me spun, blurring until all I saw was Eathan's eyes. The hissing became unbearable.
With a pained breath of "Harvey!" my muscles gave up all work and I would have fallen to the floor had Charlie not caught me.
"Bree! Briana!" I heard him calling in panic, but he sounded a long way away ...
"Get help!" Harvey suddenly yelled so loudly that I was startled. I heard his voice clearly.
Charlie seemed to obey, because suddenly his warm hands disappeared around me. Instead, Harvey was holding me now. I knew it was him, I would recognize his scent of Davidoff's perfumeHot Wateranywhere.
"Stop it!" I heard him say "Stop it now! She has nothing to do with it!"
I didn't quite understand what he was talking about, but the pain didn't give me a chance to think about it. My limbs became stiff, my head heavier, I felt neither warmth nor cold as Harvey uttered the sentences that put an end to everything:
"Haven't you done enough already? Don't ride yourself in any more, listen, damn it, stop fighting it, don't rebel!Hewon't appreciate it. Get it, understand it." is simple, like quicksand. The more you fight, the faster you will sink. So relax and just try to live. There is still hope! "
Nothing happened for a few seconds, then I heard a snort of contempt.
"You're pathetic!"
Those were the first words I heard from Eathan Parker and they shouldn't be the last, I knew that very well. They had been expressed with so much hatred, so much sadness and despondency that I involuntarily felt sorry for this boy despite the pain.
All of a sudden, however, they were blown away.
And while I leaned forward panting, supported by Harvey and frantically trying not to vomit, I felt the eyes of those black eyes rest on me. Harvey stroked my back reassuringly.
"Not her ..." I suddenly heard Eathan whisper "At least not today ..."
I felt a slight breeze and when I looked up it was no longer there.
In the next instant I heard a piercing, excruciating scream not far from me. That was also the last thing I noticed before the darkness enveloped me in its long arms.
