Death didn't want them yet. But someone else.
Sakura believed she was being pushed underwater. Suddenly she got very hot and she tried desperately to gasp for air. It did not work. Slowly and heavily, as if her eyelids weighed tons, she opened her eyes. The only things she could still make out were black eyes and an equally black head of hair. It was no longer possible to tell whether it was Itachi or Sasuke. And that's exactly what it was. The pink-haired woman was filled with joy that she was the last to look into his face.
Her pained look turned into a gentle smile. Slowly, as if in slow motion, she raised her hand and brushed a strand of hair off the face of the believed Sasuke.
The Uchiha was confused. You couldn't see it. But he was confused. This girl was strange. He was about to kill her and she smiled at him. In general, she hardly resisted it anymore. Now he felt her delicate pale hand find the way to his cheek. Just before she touched him again, he grabbed her hand. But he didn't push her away. He stayed in that position with her. What did he feel there? But he could hardly worry about that.
This Konoha-nin had distracted him so much that he hadn't paid attention to his surroundings. That was quite a feat. He, Itachi Uchiha, was never inattentive. This girl was so different, so attractive. But that wouldn't do him any more. His fate was sealed, but he didn't know it yet. Everything happened in slow motion. The sealing began.
Just because he was inattentive, he was pushed away. And that with such a force that he would have hit a tree if he hadn't caught himself in time. He looked up and got up. His first look was on Sakura, who gasped in relief and coughed loudly. Then he looked further, to the person who was standing next to the Haruno. There he was. He. His likeness. But he wasn't what he used to be. He was no longer his little, stupid, well-loved brother. Now he was a man. He was tall and handsome. He was calm and didn't even really pay any attention to his big brother. His gaze rested on Sakura.
Cold. Emotionless. Indefinite.
Nobody could see what he was thinking.
Sakura would know if she just looked up. He thought she was weak. Just as useless as it was then. A block on the leg. But it wasn't all! She would probably never be able to change his opinion. Or is it ..?
But there was no time to worry about all of this. She was too busy trying to get her beloved breath back. It wasn't until she got it back that her mind started again. She was still alive! She lived! But why? Who saved her? Moment. Rescued. Again you had to help her. Again she couldn't protect herself. She was weak again. Was it falling back into its old pattern? No! Anything but that! "Damn!" she cursed and hit the floor with her fist.
"Sakura."
That voice would recognize her among thousands. Her eyes widened and she looked at him as if in slow motion. In his black eyes. Was that really possible? Did he save her? He? Did that mean he wanted her to live? You? Sakura Haruno? He had kept telling her how annoying she was. And he saved her.
"Sasuke-kun ..."
Slowly and deliberately this came from her lips. His eyes were still on her. Calm and also deliberate. But without any emotion. As if he was looking through her.
It seemed like an eternity before he took his eyes off her again and looked at his brother. In the meantime, the latter had risen and regained his composure. Somehow it was almost degrading that Sasuke could only attack him because he was so distracted. Because of her. Sakura Haruno. Was that her name? He didn't know exactly anymore. Names don't matter either. They weren't important. In any case, that little cherry blossom was to blame. After taking care of his little brother, he would make Sakura pay for it in his own way.
"Itachi." rang out the cold voice of the younger Uchiha. Sakura was now unimportant. Now only one mattered. His revenge. All that. His whole life. Do all his life. His training. All of that. All of that only related to that moment. The moment of death. “Today.” Sasuke looked at Sakura. Eyed them. "Only one dies today."
He had to admit she had grown pretty. Very pretty. She was small and petite and perfectly rounded to match her body. Her extraordinary pink hair had grown long again and was beautifully over her shoulder. She was almost too cute for this tough world. Inwardly he grinned coldly. When his hated brother was dead, he needed something new to do. She was perfect for it. The Uchiha looked back at Itachi and finished his words,
"And that is you."
He had said all of this without any emotion.
Sakura had noticed his gaze on her, of course. As always, there was nothing to be seen in it, and yet it worried her. He was up to something. Maybe it was better to go. Return to Konoha and report on the impending battle. That was probably better.
"I .." Slowly she got up and the brothers' eyes were on her.
".. I'd better go." she finished her sentence quietly and almost silently.
“You stay.” It was Sasuke's voice. Inwardly, she was glad he had said that. But at the same time it worried her. His cold voice brooked no contradiction. And yet she gave this."But-"
"You stay!" he hissed menacingly now.
She was frightened. Why did he want her to stay? Somehow that made her happy. But it shouldn't. She should take her last chance and flee. She didn't even know what agony she was facing. You just didn't know it!
She nodded resignedly and stopped. He gave her a quick look and turned his attention fully to Itachi.
He slowly stepped up to his brother. Now it was inevitable. The time has come. They both activated their sharingan. It had to work! Itachi would start with a powerful gene jutsu. The young Uchiha had to take advantage of that. "Sakura." he said in a firm voice. His eyes were still fixed on Itachi. "Stay here." he just ordered her and then she was air for him for the time being. Now it was up to Itachi.
"Tsukuyomi." came the cold voice of the older man. Then it started. The fight was on.
Sakura could only watch helplessly. What was happening in this gene jutsu? The Haruno was worried about Sasuke. Anyway, she found it strange. Why did he want her to stay? Maybe he had decided to go back to Konoha after the fight with her. That would be indescribable. Sasuke back in Konoha? She got hot and it tingled in her stomach. Then everything would be fine again. Maybe everything would go back to the way it was before?
"AHH!"
She was frightened. A scream. His scream. He had screamed. What happened to him? He had disappeared into that gene jutsu and that was where the battle was fought. Sakura had no idea what was going on. But his scream! Sasuke's scream!
She let it be known. It would never be the same again. Far too much had happened. They had changed too much. Unfortunately, she couldn't say in what way. What was different? They had gotten bigger. They had gotten stronger. They had become more experienced. So what? Everyone does that sometimes and nothing was really different. So what was different?
Their friendship was broken.
Broken. Destroyed.
But then it occurred to her that Sasuke had never told her they were friends. He said this to Naruto. He always said to Sakura how annoying she was. Yet she loved him. Probably all her hopes were in vain. He would kill her. It should just go away. Forever. But her legs wouldn't move. Her body wanted to stay with him. And her inner too, but it resisted it. It just didn't work.
In truth, the heart only did things that hurt. Was that why Sasuke was so cold? Was that why he always switched off his heart and only used his mind? Somehow, Sakura should be doing that too. It was better for her. But she couldn't. What was life without a heart? When you're dead inside Then you live in vain. But Sasuke didn't either. He had his revenge. And what would their life be without being? It was worthless. She would do anything for him. No matter what he asked. That's why it was here. Even if he killed her. She would allow it. He was allowed to. He was allowed to do anything. He was kind of her weakness. She would do anything. Suffer only for him. Damn it, she was naive! And she knew that best of all. But there was little she could do about it. Against enemies, maybe. She was strong there. She could fight there. There she could defeat. Looked at soberly, Sasuke was an enemy too. A nuke-nin. But she had known him since childhood. It was he who had saved her so often. Why did he always do that? She didn't understand. She had never understood him at all. And who understood him anyway? He didn't give anyone a chance to see his real face. It was a secret. An unsolvable riddle. That was him. And it would always be off too.
Sakura bowed her head sadly. She would so much like to understand the Uchiha. But they were so different. Too different. Her heart contracted painfully and she bit her lip. Even if opposites attract, there will be no "we" with them. Not the way she wanted it to be. He didn't love her. So he wouldn't have any of it either. And when he did something, it always had to be of use to him. Sakura knew that by now. It wasn't that difficult to understand.
She was getting tired of waiting. The fight lasted forever. Hopefully Sasuke wasn't hurt. The scream earlier was pretty violent. And if there was one opponent who was hard to beat, it was Itachi. Of course, Sakura knew what Sasuke was up to. He wanted to defeat Itachi in his own gene jutsu. Only then did he have a chance.
She was still in place and standing. Alone. Leaving. But suddenly, as if out of nowhere, he appeared before her. But Sasuke was in the middle of the run and exactly towards Haruno. She was too scared
