Wenn die Zeit stehen bleibt...

penetrate outside. As Shinichi later discovered, Ran had called him 26 times at that time. What happened after that could be compared to pure horror! ...

When Shinichi Ran called back later, she didn't answer and when he called the landline, Kogoro answered - slurping and with a handprint on his cheek ...

At Shinichi's request, Kogoro went into Ran's room, annoyed, only to find that she was no longer in her room. It was almost midnight and she hadn't told anyone where she was. She did not leave a text message for Shinichi. Mori immediately called the police and asked to locate Inspector Megure Ran's cell phone.

Usually this was not his area of responsibility and just because someone was not back at midnight, the police were not allowed to send a search party straight away. But the inspector knew Ran and the gentleman was always a good "weird" friend to him and therefore he led the search for her.

After a short time they found out where Ran's cell phone was located and Megure, Shiratori, Takagi, Sato and Kogoro including Shinichi were on the doorstep after half an hour. More police officers positioned themselves around the building and the entrance door. They all had a wide variety of scenarios in mind.

From kidnapping to physical violence but what they saw when they pushed open the door was a picture like a fairy tale. The hallway was papered with dull green and it smelled of lavender, on the walls there were pictures - self-drawn of children and portraits to landscape paintings.

In the first moment they even doubted whether they had caught the wrong door. But when they checked the radar again, they found that Ran or at least their cell phone must be in this apartment in any case.

Prepared for anything, they ventured inside the apartment and examined every other room. At first glance everything looked very cozy, but the "intruders" had to find out that the resident was not there. Last but not least, there was only one room left which should probably serve as a storage room.

All those present stayed in front of the door and Shinichi tore the door open quickly and both he and Takagi, Sato and Shiratori kept their guns leveled - and Megure wondered again how Shinichi had stolen his gun from him again. First they had to blink because the whole time they had been used to the dim light but then they saw it ...

Everywhere in the room - it turned out that this was probably a study - there were corpses! To be more precise, her limbs were scattered around the room.

Open cupboards, desk drawers and filing cabinets. Documents everywhere. Pure chaos! But what was really incomprehensible was the graceful figure in the middle of this cemetery - you couldn't call it any other way. Ran held a corpse in her hand. Completely horrified, Kogoro wanted to see his daughter, the colleagues noticed the - understandable - hysteria of the worried father and Megure immediately sent Mori out into the living room.

Shiratori had to drag him out of the apartment, grabbing him under the arms so that he would have calmed down again. Meanwhile, Shinichi carefully stepped closer - being careful not to step on the slaughtered fingers or anything else. Even Megure had to suppress a gag reflex when he saw the cruelty of this ... - he couldn't find words for it.

In all the years in which he has seen crimes - you wouldn't even wish for such a thing for your worst enemy! For Sato, this massacre could no longer be seen, so Takagi quickly brought his colleague into the living room until she had recovered somewhat.Shiratori himself went outside on Megure's orders to take further action.

He was just about to bring his colleague Mori back in when Shinichi told him that it would be best for him to make his way to the nearby hospital. He didn't think Ran was injured - at least he couldn't make out any external injuries, but safe was safe. Because Ran practically looked right through him when he held her face in his hands to look into her eyes. And this time he was sure that it was probably not done with a memory loss. He had no idea how right he was at this point in time ...

After a short time, ambulances and reinforcements arrived. The murderer was also caught after a few hours, but during this time Shinichi was already sitting in the hospital with Kogoro, Eri, Sonoko and Professor Agasa and the Detective Boys. When Shinichi had informed the professor about the incident, he explained to Ai that he had to go to the hospital without thinking that Ai, Mitsuhiko and Genta had overheard.

Of course they wanted to come with us immediately to find out how things are going with "Ran - neechan".

They had waited about half an hour until the doctor came back and told them that Ran was just in shock, he gave her a tranquilizer and she is now asleep. But don't worry, she wouldn't have suffered any injuries ...

Now everyone could breathe a sigh of relief and could only hope that this event will hopefully not be a burden for Ran for a long time - because there was no question that it will definitely affect them.

When Ran came to after two days, all of them didn't know what their memories were about. However, when she only wished everyone a "good morning" with a smile but didn't ask anything else or didn't seem to look at anyone directly, they thought that she'd probably just suppress everything.

The doctor has already told them something like that. So they drove home again in the morning and Ran went to sleep there again. From that day on, time stood still for Ran ...

_Flashback end_

In the beginning nobody knew how to deal with the situation. The hardest hit was Eri. Since Ran had not met Eri on the fateful day, she no longer existed for Ran or at least she no longer noticed her mother. Her mother could say and do what she wanted - for Ran that was the day on which she did not see or would not see her mother.

And this was repeated - for months. Her classmates and teachers were informed of Ran's condition and everyone treated Ran exactly as they did that one day. Of course, Shinichi had called Jodie to inform her, after all, she had taught her in English that day.

At the weekend Ran had to go to therapy, but the treating therapist has not made any progress. The only thing she could say with certainty was: It is of the utmost importance that Ran not be brought into a new situation until she is ready to do it herself!

If you suddenly force her to stop going to school or not to have an appointment with Shinichi that evening, this could lead to complications that cannot be predicted. For this reason, the school management agreed to have Shinichi give Shinichi a key for the school from the caretaker so that they could go to school on weekends.

Teachers weren't necessary for teaching - after all, she wasn't aware of them anyway because she hadn't verbally contributed to the lesson that day.

So all of your loved ones stick to it. What else can you do? Only Shinichi doesn't know how much longer he can take it. What if this is no longer treatable? What about when you graduate? How will it go on with her then?

Does she - while all of her classmates are educating themselves - still have to go to Teitan? Will she always be 17 years old in her mind?

He felt so incredibly helpless ... not to mention Ran's parents! Even if everything suddenly made him so incredibly insecure, every decision he had to make made him sway - the only thing he knew for sure was: She was, is and will always be his one and everything!

And even if she took forever to find her way back to the here and now - he would never stop loving her!
