Chapter: Frogs have courage too
“You should eat something, little one.” Bulma's mother lovingly pushed the plate in front of her daughter's nose when, after 10 minutes, she had not made any move to help herself. It was still a mystery to her how she got into her bed last night.
She, who was constantly trying to explain everything in a rational, logical way, was puzzled. She would put one hand on the fire for not having gotten to bed herself and yet she would sacrifice her second if it was about whether Vegeta had brought her.
She shook her head in silence and looked up in surprise when her mother jumped up happily and hurried towards the door: "Vegeta, sweetheart? You'd like to have some breakfast too, don't you?"
Smiling, she hooked herself up to him and led him to the table. He looked a lot more relaxed than he had been last night. But in the presence of Mrs. Briefs he never dared to contradict, even if the throbbing vein on his forehead suggested his true feelings. And she would have to bring him to reason.
Satisfied, she placed him across from Bulma and offered him all of the breakfast dishes from her repertoire. Vegeta, visibly confused, let her rush of speech flow over her in silence and growled as Mrs. Briefs retreated into the kitchen to cook
“My mother means well.” Bulma looked almost apologetic when she turned to him. Vegeta was silent.
Sighing, she ran her hair through her hair and tried to smile: "You're probably feeling better. I'm glad."
It was only a tiny moment in which Vegeta seemed surprised by her statement, but Bulma had noticed: "Listen to Vegeta, I ... .."
“Breakfast is ready!” Bulma sighed in exasperation as her mother served Vegeta the plate. Pancakes, omelets, fried eggs. She had done magic again.
Pleased, she slid over to Vegeta and patted his arm affectionately: "You will be hungry because of all the training. You have to eat to regain your strength."
If Bulma had had to choose between going to the cinema and at home, she would have stayed at home. She enjoyed herself like a king. Even if she tried not to show anything so as not to irritate Vegeta any further. His vein was now clearly visible, and yet he let Mrs. Brief's flirtations go through him in silence.
"What strong arms you have."
Mrs. Briefs stroked the contours of his arm muscles with wide eyes and now elicited the exasperated twitching of his left eye from Vegeta.
One blow and he could end the theater. Vegeta was boiling and yet he was reluctant to freak out. The professor's wife had the fighting strength of a fly and, moreover, she didn't hurt his pride. Even the prince of the Sayajin could behave.
"Well then;" Bulma stood up smiling, "Have fun both of you. If someone is looking for me - I'll be at the lake."
Deep inside this man, it seemed, a heart must also be hidden."Wouldn't you like to go with her?" Mrs. Briefs smiled sweetly into Vegeta's face while she cleared the table: "You sure need a break from all that training."
Vegeta got up in silence and turned to the door when Mrs. Briefs called him back again: "Bulma is at the nearby lake. She always goes there when she has to think. Even if I don't know ..."
But Vegeta was already gone.
Vegeta had invested the morning in his training, so what was it that finally drove him here? He growled and angrily tossed his boots into the tall grass. He had actually let himself be manipulated by this coffee aunt! He, the prince of the Sayajin!
"Bullshit." Furious, Vegeta grabbed his shirt and pulled it over his head. He'd trained all morning and just needed a break.
All the better that Bulma wasn't here. He just wanted to take a dip in the cold water to cool off his wounds.
Thoughtfully he looked at the clear lake and ignored the feeling of sadness that came over him. This is what it had looked like once on the planet Vegeta.
There was no place in him for feelings. They made weak- Son Goku was the best example.
"What are you doing here?"
Vegeta raised his head in surprise and saw Bulma who had emerged from the lake. Why didn't he feel her coming !?
Bulma was amazed to see him here and thought for a while before she came out of the water and joined him: "It's nice here, isn't it?"
"Until recently it was still quiet." Vegeta's voice was cutting, but Bulma was not deterred: "Well we don't have to talk either."
"I should go." Bulma sighed against her suspicion but Vegeta exchanged the escape with the cool water and plunged into the lake. What had made him what he was?
"Hmmm" Thoughtfully, Bulma sank into the tall grass and watched the clouds moving overhead. She didn't know how long it would be before he reappeared, but he seemed surprised to see her still here.
"Are all women on earth like you?"
Bulma looked up at him questioningly and hesitantly bit her lip as he stared at her waiting. Did he have to look so damn good too?
" How come?"
Vegeta raised her eyebrows and tried to concentrate on her face: "So exhausting." Bulma snorted, before smirking began: "You're not making it easy for me either."
"You earth people are all crazy."
Sighing, Bulma watched him before she answered quietly: "It could be your new home"
Vegeta snorted contemptuously: “I don't need to be at home anymore.” Something seemed to surge in him that made Bulma back away a few meters. The aura around him grew stronger and he seemed completely overwhelmed by his feelings.Talking to him about something like that didn't seem like a good idea. Concerned, Bulma leaned against the rock wall at her back and watched Vegeta approaching her. His hands clenched into fists. What was he up to?
Take a deep breath, she thought. Just take a deep breath: "I'm not afraid of you."
Vegeta growled: "You should"
Bulma tried to smile: "You are not as deeply angry as you want us to believe."
"Are you going for it?"
"Nothing can shake me anymore. If you ever had to see everything from the perspective of a frog!"
Bulma explained this with such fervor that Vegeta paused. A contemptuous smile twitched the corners of his mouth: "I beg your pardon?"
Bulma sighed and crossed her arms defiantly over her chest: "As you probably know, Ginyu on Namek swapped his body with me."
Vegeta raised an eyebrow questioningly as Bulma stared at him waiting. Was he wrong or was it pride that resonated in her voice?
"Go ahead." Her tone was challenging. "You had no idea what I was going through, so you can't scare me. You weren't in the body of a frog."
Bulma had expected a lot, but not that Vegeta burst out laughing.
He laughed. Had she ever seen him laugh? Bulma stared at him with wide eyes as his lips curled into a grin and he moved closer to her. Waiting, he propped his hands on the rock, the smile remained on his face: "That must have been terrible for you."
Was there mockery in his voice? Bulma snorted and gave him a challenging look: "Don't make fun of me!"
Vegeta grinned and moved a little closer: "What then? Your experiences as a frog will certainly help you to get out of this situation."
Bulma snorted as he looked at her thoughtfully: "You could try jumping away from me. Shall we give a try?"
Laughing, he pushed himself off the rock and gave Bulma the way. But instead of leaving, she stood up angrily in front of him and angrily tapped his bare chest: "Never make fun of me again. Did you hear ?!"
But Vegeta just smiled, but the look in his eyes remained serious: "I have to train again. And you should probably return to your preferred environment."
Bulma raised her eyes questioningly when Vegeta grinned and grabbed her hip and pushed her roughly into the cool water: "Don't frogs prefer to live in water, if I'm not mistaken?"
And with that he disappeared.
