Camp TreeWalker (MM-FF)
Every beginning is difficult ...
Sooo: D It finally starts! First of all, many thanks to everyone who participated and made the effort :)
Okay, I don't want to keep you tortured any longer!
Let's go ~
The bus wasn't full when I got on. I guess there were about ten youngsters, maybe less.
I sank into a double seat that was not yet occupied.
After half an hour of driving, my back and butt was already aching from the neon green plastic seats. The purest imposition ... I brushed one of my green hair tears from my face and looked out the window.
When I got on the bus to St George in Las Vegas, a pleasant tour bus, I had been looking forward to a quiet six weeks in a forest, but when I got on the bus to camp from there, my dreams were shattered. Squeaky neon green plastic seats made the long journey unbearable. It was already dark outside, but most of the lights in the bus were already broken or had loose contacts.
I put my travel bag on the seat by the window and leaned against it, listening to the soft whispering and slowly falling asleep.
I woke up to a shrill scream. Immediately I was wide awake, jumped up and deeply regretted it. Every part of my body ached from the hard seat and I moaned softly at first, then dropped onto my bag and blinked the tears from my eyes. "Put that away !!" squeaked a bright voice. I turned around and saw a girl with rather long brown hair, red-orange eyes and a little bell hair clip. Fear was literally printed on her face in large letters and she clung to a seat in panic, knees drawn up, feet braced on the seat.
I got up and only now noticed that the bus had stopped. Some of the fellow travelers were still asleep, others, like me, had been woken up by the girl.
"What is there?" I asked and walked slowly towards the girl. “SPIDER !!” Inwardly I let out a long sigh. Of course these little eight-legged friends weren't my best friends, but so ...? I approached the brown-haired one, who had meanwhile attracted some onlookers, and saw a huge spider sitting in front of her on the little table that had been folded down. "Okay. That's an exaggeration," I stated, slid my hand over to the beast and let it crawl on it. The face of those I was just rescuing from the monster was full of horror.
With the spider in hand, I approached the open door of the bus, where some animals were already frolicking. "That's strange ..." I mumbled, kicked a smaller snake off the stairs with my boot, shook the eight-legged cattle from my hand and forced the door shut. When I looked forward to the driver's cab, an uneasy feeling spread in my stomach area. "Does anyone know where the driver is? And why is there nowhere a road?"There was a murmur and one of the girls, a young Japanese woman with brown, shoulder-length hair and strange purple eyes, answered me: "I have no idea where it is, but I think we shouldn't be far away from the camp anymore I'm sure we just want to check whether we have what it takes. "A blonde intervened:" We should take our bags and see that we can find the road. The bus must have turned into the pampas somewhere, it must have leave a trace. "
I nodded. "Good idea. Wake up the others and let us get out of here."
After all, the young people had the necessary respect and seriousness in the position that they left the leadership role to me as elders.
As we were all stepping off the bus with our bags, a young girl came up to me. “What's up?” The black-haired woman with the pink sweat jacket looked up at me. “Do you think we can find the camp?” “Certainly. At least we have six weeks.” She looked up at me, horrified. "I was just kidding." I calmed her down, put an arm around her shoulder and grinned at her. "The girl is right. The forest won't be that big. We'll definitely have a great time in the camp." The red-haired, apparently very naive boy grinned over both ears as he caught up with us and grinned at us. “You can call me Tanira, or Nira, whatever you want.” I laughed.
This was followed by a short round of introductions.
Immediately afterwards we grabbed our bags and followed the burglary of the bus. That turned out to be easier than expected. I quickly understood how the others felt.
For example Josseline, or rather Joy. A happy, spontaneous girl who values peace and quiet.
Or the couple Megan, or Meg and Maro. However, I didn't know what to think of the two of them because they didn't seem to be getting along with their relationship.
Then there was little Schumsepeter Finnian, who could only be called Finny. He was the youngest among us and also the most playful, cuddly and cutest.
Also among us was the computer geek Sam, actually Samantha. She tries to find an answer to everything and always has a bag of pistachios with her. I had a really good conversation with her.
Finally, there was Alex. A mysterious athlete who always carries three cell phones with him, but a really nice boy in himself.
This is how our six weeks together began.
"Do you know how long we have to walk?" Maro grumbled as we followed the bus path for two hours, because it must have left the road somewhere. "Didn't anyone sleep on the bus?" I asked as a counterattack. Unfortunately, everyone shook their heads. "When I fell asleep, that was probably shortly before sunrise, we were on a gravel road.", Hailey said from behind. I looked up into the sky, according to the position of the sun it had to be noon."I can estimate that we started around half past nine, since the engine had already cooled down, I assume that we had been there for some time. The bus couldn't have moved very quickly in the thicket. Maybe we have to do another up walk for two hours, maybe longer. ", I thought out loud. "Well bravo.", The gray-haired eighteen-year-old snorted. "Don't complain, just keep walking.", Joy interfered.
After another hour, I got my nerve too and let the group stop. "Please wait here, I don't feel like wandering around any more. After all, we're in a forest, there are tall trees here."
I put my brown leather backpack on the mossy surface and put on my climbing gloves. Looking up, I stood under a tree and fixed the branch closest to me. Skillfully I jumped from my crouch in the air, grabbed the branch and clung to myself. I ran up the rough trunk and stood a little later on the branch, estimated two meters above the ground. After another five minutes I was standing in the no longer very sturdy branches of the treetop and looking at the surroundings. Since the tree was considerably higher than the others, I had a wonderful view. I also saw the bus in the distance. The road ran parallel to the aisle we were walking along. I sighed and started the descent again ...
Back on the ground, everyone was quite annoyed when they heard my statement and we made our way across the field through the increasingly dense forest.
The lush forest made it harder and harder for us to move forward, so I soon got out my pocket knife to cut my way through. We were stopped again.
“Nira?” “What's up, Hailey?” “I think Megan's gone.” The group stopped and we found out that the girl was really missing. "Alex, you went back there! Didn't you notice anything?" He shrugged his shoulders and just said: "She was just here. Then she stopped and looked at something on the side of the road." Of course you don't take on any responsibility for the second eldest. ", I snorted annoyed, put my things down again and jogged the way we had come back.
