Chapter 2 - Memories / A New Island
The straw hats returned to their ship together. Once there, Luffy, lost in thought, immediately went to his favorite place, the figurehead. The other crew members watched him in silence before going back to their daily chores.
On the figurehead:
Luffy looked into the distance in silence. He didn't notice how the time went by and didn't notice the noise on board. His mind went back to the day he last saw Ace.
Flashback
Luffy runs away from Smoker as fast as he can, because he is aware that he cannot do anything against him with his gum gum powers. However, he is not fast enough because Smoker catches up with him and attacks him with White - Strike. Ace appears out of nowhere and fends off Smoker's attack on Luffy with Fireball. Ace calls to Luffy: "Get out of here with your crew! I'll do this and then come after." Luffy looks at Ace, nods and then turns to his crew. "Come on guys, let's get out of here," he says. Almost in sync, everyone nods. Together you run back to the Flying Lamb as quickly as possible.
Back on the Flying Lamb, Luffy first leans against the railing and grins at everyone! "Tell Luffy, was that really your brother earlier", Nami asks the grinning Luffy, aghast. "Yep, his name is Ace and he left three years before me to become a pirate," replies Luffy. "Wow, you have a really strong big brother Luffy," said Chopper, eyes gleaming with amazement. Luffy replied with a laugh: "Yes, he was stronger than me before, without his devil powers. But today, today I am stronger!"
Suddenly Ace appears behind Luffy on the railing and puts a hand on his shoulder. "You are stronger than whoever is little?" "Ace!" Replied Luffy, only astonished. He was very happy to see his big brother again, after all they hadn't seen each other for three long years. "Hey Luffy, come with your gang to Whitebeard." "Nope, why should I," said Luffy and pulled a pout. A grin crept onto Ace's face. "I knew you'd refuse, but he's the coolest pirate, he should be the pirate king, not you Luffy!" "Well brother, that means we have to fight each other someday!"
When Luffy had finished with his sentence, Sanji asked Ace if he would like to stay for dinner. Ace replied, "No, I have to go on! I'm looking for a guy named Blackbeard. He killed one of our crew and then disappeared. I want to find the traitor." Luffy whined and pouted again. "Yes, but before I go I want to give you something else," said Ace and tosses Luffy a small, blank piece of paper. "Huh ... what is that good for? Asked Luffy, totally confused."" That way we will find ourselves again. "In response, Ace gets a small, weak nod, combined with a smile. After this, Ace turns to Luffy's team and says," I'm worried about my little brother. He certainly doesn't always make it easy for you. Have patience with him! "
After saying this, Ace turned around and jumped on his striker. Before he left, he turned to Luffy again. "At our next meeting, it will be decided who will be the king of the pirates," he said and drove off. "See you brother!", Luffy called him, as loud as he could afterwards.
Flashback end
Only after a while did Luffy return to reality from his thoughts / memories. Doubt and fear are spreading in the otherwise optimistic, grinning straw hat captain.What if I fail when he dies? I'm scared ... for the first time in my life.
For a long time he sat there and looked blankly into the distance. He didn't get Sanji calling everyone to dinner. Only when Zorro suddenly stood next to him and put a hand on his shoulder did he look up. He stared at Zorro in amazement! “What are you doing here?” “You didn't show up for dinner, and you are usually the first to sit at the table when it comes to eating.” “There was food?” Repeated Luffy in his own language. then jumped up and ran past Zorro, towards the kitchen. Zorro looked after him, slightly astonished.[i]Something is wrong with Luffy, he is pretending to be ...Zorro thought before he looked for a place where he lay down to sleep.
Meanwhile, Luffy arrived in the kitchen, sat down at the table, and yelled for food. "Forget it Luffy, I won't do something for you again especially for you! It's your own fault if you don't show up for dinner in time!", Sanji said. "But Sanji ...", Luffy contradicted with a begging voice. "Nothing there! Come when I call everyone." Then Luffy got up and left the kitchen without saying another word. Sanji stared perplexed after the silent Luffy.That's not normal, otherwise he would have continued to discuss ... until at some point I would have given in because I would have been tired of it ..."Well I'll worry my head about that tomorrow, sighs Sanji. For today I have enough to do with washing up for now. "
Luffy in turn went back to the figurehead and looked silently and thoughtfully into the distance. Everything around him seemed to disappear, he sank deeper and deeper into his thoughts. Only when Usopp suddenly yells: "People over there is an island!", He was startled. Zorro also got up and shouted: “Can't you just sleep in peace here ?!” But he is totally ignored when Luffy jumped back on the ship. "Maybe this is the island where Ace is being held. Go there friends!" "Wait Luffy!This can't be the island your brother is being held prisoner on! It looks more like the Amazon island to me! Your brother is more likely to be in Impel Down, the best-guarded maximum security prison in the world government. "The facial features of the young straw hat captain derailed, he stared at Robin in astonishment.
While Luffy was staring at Robin, Sanji came running out of the kitchen. "I've heard that the island is supposed to be an Amazon island! There are sure to be a lot of pretty women there!" "Did you say something to Marimo?" "Yes, I have a dartboard eyebrow!" Zorro said calmly and casually drew one of his swords. "Pah, do you think you could scare me with your toothpicks. Saber rascals?" "But always," replies Zorro and grinned nastily. The usual fight broke out between the two.
Nami looked over at the two brawlers, annoyed. "It can take a while!" She sighed. "But ... we have to go on to Ace! I want to save him!", Luffy said with a somewhat wailing voice. Now Chopper also got involved in the conversation. "Maybe it's good if we take a short break first. We are all still a bit battered from our last fight!" Luffy was about to reply something, when Nami got involved again. She looked straight at him. "Luffy, we can do it, even if we take a short rest here! We'll get your brother out of it.", And maybe we will find a big treasure on this island, 'Nami added in thought. "Okay!" Luffy sighed. Let's pay a quick visit to the island. "So it was a done deal!
