Chapter: Breaking out into a new life

Jane saw nothing and, as always, felt nothing. Was she dead? No, it was just another cruel day in her wretched life. Was she really alive at all, or was it all a never-ending nightmare? Unfortunately it was the harsh reality, but maybe she would be able to regain her freedom today. That thought kept her alive all these years, even if it became less likely every day.
"What's up for today?" She heard a voice ask in the background. Jane shivered. Now it started again. She would probably never be able to forget all the painful memories of this place. The terrible experiments, the laughing voices and the feeling of losing yourself more and more. "Today the training starts.", Answered a cold voice. It was apparently both men. Jane heard something beep and a click sounded as one of the two spoke into a kind of cell phone. "C83! Come to wing 7, room 285!" "I understand. I'm on my way!", Came a girl's voice from the cell phone. Jane knew the voice from somewhere but, as always, didn't remember anything. The eternal emptiness in her head had almost driven her crazy.
She had heard people talking about a god several times. He should apparently solve all problems and give people hope. But where was this god? Why didn't he help her? Had she ever done something bad? Or did he just not want to see her? , Jane asked herself such questions every day and remained unanswered every day.
"Why are you getting such an old model?" Asked a man's voice again. "C83 is perhaps the oldest, but by far the best trained model. It is even going to be used outside!", The other voice explained calmly.
The next moment Jane heard a heavy door swing open. "Here I am!" Introduced the girl's voice. "You're supposed to train A75. How long will it take you?" Asked one of the men. "7 days!" Replied the girl and Jane felt her gaze on her. On her short blonde hair, her blindfolded blue eyes, her pale skin and all the bandages that surrounded her! "When should I start?" Asked the girls agree again. "Now!" Replied the men gruffly. Jane heard and felt the girl's faint footsteps. She had to stand right next to her now. Now she felt how the girl loosened her leather shackles. Jane let out a relaxed breath when she could move her arms again. Now the girl took off her blindfold. "Be careful!" Warned one of the men. The girl had long black hair and black eyes. She wore a kind of armor and a short black dress underneath. "Put that on!" She ordered Jane coldly and held out a knee-length white dress. Jane studied the dress. Finally she tried as best she could to put on the new dress. Behind the girl she recognized two men dressed in white coats who were watching them. When they noticed Jane's look, she and Jane were shocked at the same time. The girl must have noticed and now ordered Jane in a cool tone: "Get up!" Jane got up. She was a little shaky on her feet and many of her wounds were still painful. Then a thought of freedom hit her. She pretended to fall over. As expected, the girl caught her. Now Jane turns on one leg and swung the other leg. With great force and force that she would never have dared to do, she struck. The girl was apparently unprepared for her attack and was thrown through two walls.
Jane took the chance and ran out of the room. She was running faster than ever, even if she was a little shaky on her feet. She reached a long hallway and ran to the end. There was a stairwell that went down deep. That was where the exit had to be. The sudden howl of sirens made her swing over the railing and jump down the middle to the lowest floor. She landed elegantly on her feet.
There! Light! she thought as she looked at the end of the bottom hall. Resolutely she ran towards the door made of dark wood, which was ajar. Sir already smelled a breath of fresh air streaming in through the door. "There she is! Stop her!", She heard someone shout and many heavy steps approached her.
But Jane didn't want to go back. Not once more. She was so close now and wanted, no, she just couldn't give up anymore.
She yanked the door open and ran outside. In a split second she realized the fresh scent of the meadow, the bright light of the sun and the pleasantly cool breeze of the wind. She surrendered to the feeling of freedom that was so familiar and yet so strange to her. Unfortunately, this feeling only lasted for a short time when she heard the approaching footsteps again. She looked around.
She was on a small island that was separated from the surface of the water by 20 meters of earth. Far and wide nothing was to be seen except the blue sea. But Jane didn't care. She wanted to get out of here, even if she had to swim forever. That was when she heard someone whistling down in the sea south of her. She ran after the sound and arrived at the end of the island.
When she looked into the depths she recognized a boy on a rowboat who was apparently about to disappear from the island. That was Jane's last hope.
"STOP!", She yelled and felt how she slowly lost her strength. The boy stopped immediately and looked up at the battered girl in amazement. This did not hesitate long and jumped.
Terror spread across the boy's face. Jane, however, did a couple of somersaults in the air and felt the wind whizzing around her ears. She landed smoothly on the small rowboat. It didn't shake once when Jane landed and with a transfigured and slightly blurred look she briefly looked at the boy, who looked at her in horror through his blue eyes."Help me ...!" Jane whispered before her eyes went black and fell over.
