The tension in the small room was almost unbearable. Actually, I should have got used to it long ago, after all, it was nothing new. My parents consistently ignored me. Still, I was angry. Damn I was her daughter, didn't she care? For a while I had stood rooted to the spot in the cool atmosphere of the kitchen and stared at them both. They sat in silence at the breakfast table, which had only two plates, and went about their early morning routine. My father read the sports section of the paper while making a few comments every now and then about possible teams. My mother sat across from him and made her breakfast. And me. I didn't exist. Turning my gaze away from them, I let it slide to watch over them on the wall. I still had a few minutes before I had to go. I was still boiling when I turned to the kitchen counter and opened the cupboard door with too much force, so that it came to the next cupboard with a loud noise. After taking out my favorite cup, I slammed the door again with the same intensity. I poured the last of the coffee from the pot into my cup and added at least as much milk to it. Otherwise the stuff just didn't taste good. When I finished drinking, I dropped the cup in the sink and turned back to my parents. Giving you and your ignorance a brief angry look, I immediately left the far too narrow kitchen. I shouldered my backpack, which was lying in front of the front door, which contained my camera and various school supplies, and left the apartment and its oppressive atmosphere. Taking two steps at a time, I pounded down the stairwell. When I arrived outside in the fresh air, I took a contented breath, already in a better mood. At least there wasn't a bad air here.
The sun shone down from the pristine blue sky, warming my skin while I sat on the sidewalk and waited for Sasori. Sasori was my personal hero. He took me to school almost every morning, saving me a nerve-wracking ride on the crowded bus. A few minutes late, he stopped at my feet and leaned over to the passenger side to open the door for me. I immediately jumped into the seat of his black jeep and slammed the door behind me. It was a mystery to me how he could afford such an expensive car. But every time I asked him about it, he had said that it was completely unimportant. It wasn't. At least not for me. I had my hunch anyway that it had something to do with Akatsuki."How are you?" Sasori asked me as he accelerated the car. "Suuuuuuper. It couldn't go any better.", I replied, stretching the U at super exaggerated.
Sasori raised an eyebrow as he continued to look down at the road. "Are you all right?" I asked him now, so that he didn't think about my sarcastic remark any further. "What's going on?" He asked my question over and gave me a quick, scrutinizing look. I sighed softly. Of course he would follow up. "The usual," I replied curtly, staring out the window.
We were probably in the shabby area of Chicago. Everywhere the tightly packed houses were on the verge of decay. But no one who lived here could afford better, and the city officials hadn't cared about this part of Chicago for decades. I guess I was lucky with my family, at least in terms of money. My parents' income was high enough to buy us a reasonably decent apartment in one of the high-rise buildings on the outskirts of this area. Even so, when I went to school I had to walk all the bad corners with a shootout just a few days earlier. That was probably one of the reasons why Sasori insisted on driving me to school. Even if he said nothing would happen to me as long as I stayed in Akatsuki territory. Because Sasori was my best friend and I was something of a sister to him, I was under her protection. Nevertheless, he forbade me to go out on the streets alone at night, on the grounds that there are idiots everywhere.
"You know that you don't have to take the detour every day to drive me to school?" I asked just for routine when we arrived at my shabby school. I knew what he would answer. Sasori gave me a slight smile. "I know." "Good." I replied with a smile on my face. I opened the door and got out. But before I closed it again, I said: "You also know that I am infinitely grateful to you for that, yes?" "Take care, Domi. See you this afternoon," he just replied and accelerated while I was still the one Slammed the door.

"Damn Deidara, get your ass in the car!" I shouted, my foot hovering only millimeters above the accelerator. Finally the blond-haired man slipped onto the seat next to me. "Hit the gas!" "Bang them down, you idiot!" I yelled back as my foot depressed the pedal and the car accelerated. Deidara leaned out of the moving car with his gun and aimed at the boys standing behind us on the street. A loud exchange of fire ensued, as we were at a huge disadvantage. I tried to duck my head in as best I could while the rear window shattered from the fire. Deidara got kicked back in the car when I took a right turn too sharply. But now we were safe from their weapons, as our opponents did not seem to have any wheels within reach."Shit, what fucking asshole got them for us to be here?" I yelled angrily.
Deidara next to me, contrary to my expectations, sucked in a sharp breath. Usually he got upset about it when we escaped. He thought it was cowardly. However, my life was dear to me. "Damn it, you're bleeding!" He said instead and pointed to my right arm, which was slowly running down blood. I took a quick look at my arm, which I hadn't felt until just now, but which was now starting to throb a lot. The bloody trail had meanwhile reached my hand and was now dripping onto the floor. "Fuck." I hissed through clenched teeth.
Deidara pulled his shirt over his head while I continued to accelerate the car to get to headquarters fast enough.

I was standing in front of the door of the most rundown house around here and that really had to mean something. After all, we were in the worst neighborhood in Chicago, where pretty much all of the houses were in dire need of renovation. But I was used to this environment. It was my job to remind the people who lived here that we were here. Us, the Akatsuki. I made myself known with a loud thump on the rotten wood in front of me. I heard a chair scraping the floor and loud shuffling footsteps approaching the entrance. Then the door opened a crack. I immediately took the opportunity and pressed it with all my might and in spite of resistance. I took the fat guy in front of me by the collar and shoved his big ass against the wall. I pressed my forearm directly onto his throat so that he began to gasp loudly. "Where's the money?" I asked, giving my voice a warning undertone. The guy's eyes were wide and looked at me in panic. "W-w-what f-for money?" He asked hypocritically. "You know exactly what shitty money I'm talking about!" I replied in a sharper tone and pressed my elbow a little tighter to his throat. Cawing and gasping for air, the fat man tried to wriggle out of my grip. Vain. I was short, but I had muscles and they were stronger than fat. “I only ask you one more time. Where's the money?” I emphasized every single syllable. When the guy was only making rattling noises again, I reached into my jeans and brought my pistol to light. Slowly I straightened it on his head. The guy's eyes were now completely fixed on my gun. The sweat of fear ran down his forehead. "Are you really sure you have nothing for me?" I asked, taking some pressure off his throat so he could answer me. "Y-d-yeah!" He managed to cough. I pulled my elbow all the way back and waved the gun in the direction of the rooms behind me. “Get it.” He slowly stumbled away from the wall towards one of the rooms. I ran after him so that he wouldn't think of finding a weapon as well. His hut was a mess. There was dirt everywhere and no cupboard and no table were still whole. It also smelled of a mixture of sweat, smoke and shit. I just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. “Hurry up, fat sack!” The guy ran, as far as his stature would allow, to a chest of drawers and opened the bottom drawer. After rummaging around in it a little, he took out a plastic bag. He handed the bag to me with a trickle of sweat on his face. I took a quick look, then lifted it in the air. "If that's not all, I assure you, it will have been your last day," I explained threateningly. Then I turned around and took long strides out of the hut. I didn't feel like enduring the guy's stench any longer.

With the tires screeching, I finally brought the car to a stop in front of a disused factory. "Here, press that on there.", Deidara said, handing me his shirt. "Thanks," I muttered as I pressed the fabric to the burning wound and got out of the car. In my head the thoughts began to become slightly blurred and my surroundings were constantly changing between sharp and blurred. With shaky steps and with Deidara as a support, we ran towards the factory floor and entered it through a small side entrance that was easy to overlook. The hall has served us as a shelter for a long time. Some of us also lived here temporarily. As soon as we entered, we met Konan, who apparently had noticed us first. "What happened?" She asked to the shirtless Deidara while he continued to support me. The blond grimaced and I moaned slightly. Couldn't the explanations wait until later? Didn't she see how shitty I was? “Somebody told the Bloods that we had a deal going on at the old train station today.” Konan drew in a sharp breath. She must have been thinking the
