Chapter: Chapter 1
Panting and with a racing heart, the pounding of which made her chest vibrate, she startled from her restless sleep. Her hair sticking out on all sides, she ran through it with a shaky hand and wiped her sweaty face. She felt as if she had been bathed, the way the makeshift nightgown, actually an oversized man's shirt that she had found while rummaging through the hut, was stuck to her body. She tried to calm down and took a few deep breaths. Even if she still had to process the images of her nightmare, she quickly had herself under control again. Another deep breath. Slowly she got color again and her heart finally slowed a bit. Now that she was more or less composed, she looked almost annoyed with her stubborn frown and furrowed eyebrows, if it weren't for the unconscious tears that hung in her eyes. Angrily, she blinked them away and fell back on her bed, exhausted. It wasn't her first nightmare, and she knew it would certainly not be her last. "Lately they have been piling up quite a bit ..." she thought, looking out of the window. Thousands upon thousands of stars lit up the sky, indicating that it was still the middle of the night. "As always," she mumbled, and as always she couldn't sleep anymore.
Even before the first rays of sun shone through the window, Levie was on his feet and ready to leave. Since she had not been able to sleep for the rest of the night, her few belongings were already together with her lost and found items - the man's shirt that she had used to sleep, a loaf of bread that had become hard and already half-eaten as food for travel, and a kind of handy rake, the wanted to carry it with him as a weapon for protection - stowed in her small bag. Finally she tamed her repulsive hair with a ribbon and threw the small bag over her even smaller shoulder. If you looked at her like that, you could really get the idea that you are not looking at a grown woman but rather a little girl. With her small, delicate figure and the narrow, almost inconspicuous female curves, she felt like a child. Her breasts, which were too small, often bothered her. And yet, despite her inferiority complexes, she wished that someone would see her for who she really was.
She glanced back at her nightly camp, which she had made the first to disappear after she made the decision to leave. It hadn't been very comfortable and yet she was glad to have had a roof over her head for the night. She often spent her nights in the open air because she couldn't afford a room in a hostel with the best of will. And if people knew who she was and what she'd done, she wouldn't get any.
With a deep sigh, she turned around and closed the door behind her with a plaintive look. She had been traveling a long time and still had a long way to go.She only hoped to find an empty hut or a cozy little cave again soon; a place that offered some protection. With the wind behind her, driving her forward, she left the hut behind and headed in the direction in which she imagined the next village or town. The sun also started its journey across the sky and was already spreading a cozy warmth. It promised a pleasant, serene day, and perhaps even a pleasant night.
