The Lost World

Prolouge: The Lost World

It was one of those days again. Gray, dreary and rainy. Kira Jones, a girl at the age of 19, was sitting at her window and looking over the German city of Berlin, evening was approaching. She looked up at the sky and smiled gently. She had known for a long time that mankind was no longer alone on earth. She could sense other species, not human figures that lived with civilization every day. Kira took it as if they weren't there. Slowly the clouds cleared and the beautiful full moon presented its face in the dark sky and lit up her face.

It was already well after midnight, the city seemed to slowly fall into its gentle sleep, she liked it when the lights of the otherwise busy city slowly went out and only the lights of the stars and the moon represented the light of the city.

Kira had her bed directly under the skylight of her bedroom, she continued to watch the sky and closed her eyes.
-what is there only for creatures out there? Which species live with us ... which ones against us? - She thought for a long time until she finally fell asleep.

Again Kira was haunted by the dream, the one she dreamed every night. She ran through a city, but it didn't seem to be German. The scripts in the bars and pubs were all in English. Which she understood relatively well and could speak fluently. She ran through the streets and alleys, but then found herself on a square with a large water column, probably a kind of sight.

A man with a long coat was standing at the docks, but Kira could never see his face in her dreams, which made her almost insane. But she didn't want to give up, from night to night she tried to recognize his face. But she just didn't succeed.

The next morning, the morning regularity followed again. It bothered her. She was desperately trying to find work, as well as a partner, but she had already given up. She grabbed her laptop and went through the professions again, but then sighed. "That makes no sense ... I'll never find anything here ..." She dropped her head and then looked at the map of the world that was hanging on her wall. - Where can this place be ... USA? Or maybe Great Britain after all? Argh ... that drives me crazy ...-

She tried to find a picture of this sight from her dreams using the google search and she was lucky.

This stainless steel water tower is a 70m high vertical tower located near the Wales Millennium Center. It connects reflective surfaces with a constant stream of running water.
It was designed by artist William Pyren, in conjunction with Nicholas Hare Architects, in 2000. It is located in Cardiff-Bay.

But she looked at the laptop, slightly irritated. "Cardiff? I don't even have a clue where that is?" She read through all Wikipedia entries, travel sites and all other sites, but found nothing that could help her. Ultimately, she gave up."Why this city ... what does this place bring me? And why do I see it in my dreams?" But the longer she pondered, the more she wanted to finally find out.

So she decided to fly to Cardiff Bay the next morning to finally find out what her dreams meant. She got dressed and did some shopping before reading through all the travel routes and printing out a few things. Lost in thought, she looked at the laptop. - Every time I see him ... His aura is black as night. And that worries me. Maybe it's not a good idea after all ... no, I have to think clearly, I have to finally find out, otherwise it will eat me up.

She rummaged some things in a bag and looked into the setting sun in the evening. Autumn was unpredictable when it came to the weather. Another sigh rang out in the room and she looked in the refrigerator. "I couldn't cook anymore anyway ... I don't even have margarine anymore." She made a bread without butter and sat on the bed. Her gaze wandered to her cell phone, which was blinking. She took it and read the SMS that had arrived earlier. But she didn't understand the text. They were incoherent letters that made no sense no matter how you read them.

Kira was now really confused and nibbled on the bread, she lay down in front of the cell phone but that didn't change the fact that she couldn't read it. - What's that? I do not understand that.-

After pondering for a long time, she fell asleep and slept for the first time, only the letters in her head. - H.O.C.T.O.R.D.O.W. It just ... doesn't make sense ...- The moon seemed different and the wind was rising. But Kira was fast asleep, she didn't know that tomorrow's flight would be uncertain. In lost worlds, ruins of the past and the revelation of their dreams.
