Without love,you can't live
The boarding school
It's a big building that I walk up to, in fact several buildings. A large gate leads me to the wide courtyard that connects all the buildings with each other. The sky is dark, the wind is strong. My skirt is blowing up and down and I try to hold it down, which is quite difficult for me with my luggage in one hand. A boy with dark purple hair approaches me slowly. Excited, I stand properly in front of the gate.
"You have to be the new one," he says after looking at me. He pulls his black and white checked scarf a little closer to his chin, it's pretty cold. The boy is not wearing the school uniform that I am wearing, but a different one. But that doesn't surprise me. He's waiting for me to say something, I can see that on his face.
"Yes, II am Ai, Ai Takeshita and I'm supposed to attend this boarding school from today." I introduce myself excitedly.
"Nice to meet you, Ai. It would only be nice if you were on time from now on," he replies.
"I'm sorry ..." I apologize and look at the floor.
"It's okay, let's go in first. It's pretty cold out here," he sighs and takes the suitcase from my hand.
"I'm Daichi, Daichi Takimoto, the student representative of this boarding school," he says casually and leads the way.
"Nice to meet you, Takimoto-kun."
He suddenly stops and looks annoyed at me. "Just call me Daichi. I don't like being addressed by my last name."
Then he goes on.
"I'm sorry, Daichi. I didn't know that ..." I apologize again. At that moment I get really upset that I always have to be so shy, I'm surprised that I even got a word out.
"You couldn't have known that, don't worry."
I run right after him. Daichi is easy to carry with this suitcase, which surprised me quite a bit, as it was quite difficult for me with the suitcase. I stop for a moment and look around. The yard is really huge. In front of me is the main building on this property. It is the school of this boarding school that I will go to from now on. As far as I know, the boys 'dormitory is on the left and the girls' dormitory on the right. There is hardly anything in the yard. There are only a few benches and rubbish bins here, a tree has been planted on the right side of the building, it is one with thousands and thousands of pink on bright cherry blossoms that fly all over the courtyard.
Daichi is now standing in front of the entrance to the building on the right.
"Are you coming? I want to go in." He calls out to me.
I nod and run to him. We enter the building together. "This is the girls' dormitory. We boys are on the other side. I will now lead you to your new room," he says. But then he sighs briefly and sets my suitcase down.
"Wh-what is it?" I ask him in amazement.
"Nothing, it just occurred to me that your room is on the top floor," he replies, annoyed.
"Y-you don't have to accompany me to my room. It's enough if you tell me where to go." I tell him nervously.
"No, leave it alone, it's not that far either ..."
He pulls his scarf down a little, strokes his hair and then picks up the suitcase again. He goes ahead and I follow him. I take a closer look on the way to my room. On the left as well as on the right we pass rooms two meters apart, the front doors of which are always designed differently. We walk through a hallway, everything is perfectly quiet.
"I-is it always so quiet here?" I ask Daichi.
"At that time, yes. There is lunch in the cafeteria. Hardly anyone is here," he explains.
It's Sunday noon, that makes sense.
"Wait a minute, does that mean you're missing your lunch?" I ask him, horrified.
We arrive at a flight of stairs that is the end of the hallway. It only leads up. He stops and smiles at me. "It's okay, as a student representative I'm used to it."
He goes up the stairs and I follow him. Daichi seems pretty nice, but my instinct is telling me to behave away from him. I think that's pretty strange, because most of the time I get the right feeling, but this time I can't be right, he's nice and helpful, or am I just imagining it ...? I think it's a little early to think about it, so I ignore that feeling.
"So, here it is," says Daichi and stops in front of an undecorated room. He puts a key in my hand and hands me my suitcase. I open the door excitedly. My room is pretty empty. I go in and look around. To my left is a small chest of drawers covered with dust, next to it is a bed. There is a cupboard on the right. I'm standing on a circular green carpet in the middle of the room. In front of me is a desk, also covered with dust, and in front of it a woody, fragile-looking chair, as well as a sturdy chair, also made of wood.
"The room hasn't been used for a long time, so it's pretty dirty here. Only we don't have another room at the moment.", Daichi explains and enters the room. I put the suitcase on the unmade bed and then sat on the bed.
"Oh, it's not that bad," I say to myself rather than to Daichi.
"If you want to go to the cafeteria, there is definitely something left over from the food.", He says and looks at me questioningly.
"No, thanks, I'll set up the room first, you can go and eat something." I decline the offer and get up.
"Okay, but if you need anything, let me know."
He digs a piece of paper out of his pocket and puts it in my hand.
"What is that?" I ask, slightly irritated.
"This is the directions to my room from this point of view," he replies with a smile. "I'll go eat then."
I nod and see how he leaves the room and closes the door behind him, after which he winked at me again. I feel myself blushing slightly and unfold the piece of paper in my hand to distract myself a little. There is a detailed description of how to get to him. Unlike me, his room is on the ground floor and not on the 3rd floor.
I let myself fall on the bed, exhausted, and take a deep breath.
From now on my world would change, that was clear.
