Chapter 6: Visit
As always, the rehearsals went without any major problems. Jessica had hit the wrong note once in between, but otherwise everything was right. So the next gig could come.
Satisfied, Nami left the basement room where they always rehearsed and climbed the stairs to the first floor together with the two sisters. 'First of all, a nice hot bath. 'She stretched with relish when Maria came towards them. "Hey, I have good news for you three. The mayor just called me. This two-day city festival is next week and he asked me if you could not perform on the first evening. They also want to collect money for the orphanage." "That would be on the 3rd, right? Your birthday Nami." Lynn then said to Nami."I know, but I don't mind. I don't want to celebrate anyway." "Oh what. But I don't mind either. We'll celebrate your birthday afterwards." Orphanages can certainly use the money. " Jessica also agreed with the idea.
"Well, then I'll call the mayor back immediately." Maria was about to leave again when she remembered something: "Oh yes, before I forget it, Nami. Georg and I want to go shopping and we thought we'd slowly go back a wedding dress for you. So it would be good if you could come with me. "" Now? I actually want to go swimming now. "" You can do that later too.
'My beautiful bathroom.' Nami thought, still resigned, but then followed Maria.
Less than half an hour later, Nami and Maria were standing together with Jessica, Lynn and Janina in a luxury boutique for wedding equipment and were chatting to them, as Nami called it, from the saleswoman.Of course, her three "sisters-in-law" couldn't help but accompany her. After all, Nami needed someone who could give her the right advice, saleswoman or not.
Georg, Jamie and Ben were meanwhile buying a tuxedo down the street. Jamie wanted to be there when his future wife bought a dress, but seeing the bride in the dress before the wedding was known to bring bad luck, so he had to wait inevitably.
Nami looked around the boutique a bit, while her mind wandered further and further from the talk of the saleswoman and she finally stopped listening until she lifted a dress in front of her nose. "Try this on." "What? Oh, uh ... yes."
In the changing room, Nami took a closer look at the dress. It was bright white, very long and had no sleeves. In addition, ruffles were attached to the hem of the skirt and cleavage, which were trimmed with small, white pearls. 'What is that going to cost?'
The 5 people around, including the saleswoman, were amazed when Nami came out of the cabin.Janina in particular got really big eyes. "Man! You look beautiful! I want to have a dress like that later!" "Thank you. What do you think?" "She's right. It looks really good on you, doesn't Mum?" Jessica said to her mother. "Mhm. Fits like a glove." "I would still like to try on a few more if I can."
“Of course.” The saleswoman looked for another dress, which in her opinion could suit Nami due to its figure and size, and then handed her one. "After all, it will be the most beautiful day of your life and you should wear the dress that you like best." "Yes, ..... the most beautiful day of my life ..." Nami mumbled, incomprehensible and stepped back into the cabin.
Within the next hour, Nami had tried on 6 more dresses. There simply wasn't one that had really appealed to her. And she slowly passed the pleasure. Always this miserable dressing and undressing, which was not exactly easy with wedding dresses. It took forever to squeeze into such a dress.
And now she was standing in the changing room for the eighth time and looked at the next dress that the saleswoman had pressed into her hand. Like its predecessors, it was white, not quite as long, the hem barely touched the floor, had spaghetti straps and a small neckline. In addition, small roses were embroidered on the hem of the skirt and the neckline.
When Nami had squeezed into the dress, she first looked down at herself. It looked really nice and it just sat perfectly. "I'll take that!" she called to the others before she pushed the curtain aside and presented them with the last dress.
"But it's about time. You wouldn't have had many to choose from." Lynn grinned, "You're right. That really is the best of all so far. I would take that too." "Well, I don't know." Maria said broodingly, "Personally, I still liked the first one best. But if you like it, Nami, that's the main thing. " "Thanks."
When Nami was back in her normal clothes and left the cabin with the thought of finally going home, the saleswoman came towards her again. "Let's go on." "How now? Are we still not finished?" "No, of course not. You still have to decide whether you want a veil or just hair accessories and then you also need shoes."
Inwardly, Nami sighed deeply. 'Well then we'll get it over with quickly. "Well, I don't like a veil. I'd rather have something that you can use to put your hair up." "You mean something like that?" Lynn handed her a kind of bobby pin that was studded with pearls and jewelry and that you can on pinned hair (sorry, can't explain that as well as the dresses. I've probably seen umpteen wedding dresses, but I really don't know what they all looked like -.-). "Yeah exactly like that.I like that, I'll take that. And now the shoes. "
After another half an hour, Nami finally decided on a pair of shoes. They were very plain, white and had a small heel. She had liked these shoes right from the start, but at Maria's insistence that she should try on a few more, she had done so too. With the result that in the end she still liked the first ones best. Most of the others had straps and buckles attached to them, which just wasn't to their liking.
"Well, then we would have everything. I'll go pay." Maria was about to go to the cash register when she was held back by Nami again. "Is that really okay? I mean, it's all very expensive. Somehow I don't feel comfortable when you have to pay for all of this." "Oh, honey, that really doesn't matter. I'll be happy to do it." Maria smiled, "Besides, our account doesn't even notice it." "Thanks. "(Nami says thank you quite often, but who wouldn't if he got a complete bridal outfit?) While Maria was going to pay, Jessica suddenly remembered:" Hey, we don't have everything yet. "There was a big grin on her face." The most important thing is still missing. "Nami looked at her a little puzzled. Somehow she didn't like that grin." And that would be? " "Come along. "Jessica pulled Nami up from her chair, on which she had been sitting since trying on shoes, and dragged her into the next room. Lynn and Janina also followed them.
“And what am I supposed to do here?” Nami looked around the room: underwear department.
"Well, you want to look nice under your dress too." Jessica put an arm around Nami's shoulder. There was still a huge grin on her face. "Jamie would surely like that." "I think so too. And just think about the wedding night ....." Lynn put an arm around Nami's shoulder, too, but from the other side, but Nami freed himself immediately of both and forced a grin too."Ha ha, how funny. Let's go." Nami left the department and went to Maria, who was already waiting for her children at the exit. The word 'wedding night' had triggered a strange feeling in her again and she had to swallow to get rid of the litter that had formed in her throat.
The two sisters looked at each other questioningly because of Nami's quick departure. Both of them had the same question written on their faces: What was going on?
Shrugging their shoulders they went in the direction of the exit and Janina, who hadn't understood a word of what the big three had said, quickly jumped after them.
On the way home it was quiet in the car (they have a big car so everyone can fit in). Shopping made you tired and so everyone had their own thoughts.
"What do you do on a wedding night? I've been thinking about this all the time, but I can't figure it out." Janina asked suddenly into the silence (do children know that at 10 years of age?I'll just say no) and Nami, who was about to fall asleep, was wide awake again. That word again.
Jamie had turned red. "Uh ... why do you want to know?" "Because Lynn mentioned it earlier."
Jamie gave his sister a questioning look, who just smiled innocently at him.
"Honey, we'll explain that to you when you're older." Georg got involved, who himself did not know what to think of this conversation situation.
"Och menno. Whenever I'm older." Janina pouted the rest of the journey.
Jamie had meanwhile turned his gaze to Nami, who was still looking out the window and pretending she hadn't heard anything. But in her eyes he saw that something was wrong.
When the car stopped in the driveway to the Montgomery property shortly afterwards and everyone got out, the maid came towards them: "Miss Nami, you have a visitor." "What? Me? But ... who?" unfortunately not mentioned his name.He just said that you knew him, that would be enough. "He? Who was he? But not ..... No! 'Now don't spin around, Nami. As if Zorro suddenly appeared here. You don't think so yourself?' But who was it then? Quick she followed the maid into the house when the visitor came towards her in the corridor. "There you are at last. Long time no see."
"What you?!"
