Chapter 10: Loneliness

Ace just wanted to get away from Loguetown and Nami as soon as possible. Food or not. Finding something to eat here now would take too long for him. So he ran back to the port and his little boat as quickly as possible.

It was already dark when the concert ended. Once again it had been a complete success. The donation box for the orphanage was full after the first hour and had to be emptied again and again. Everyone was happy, especially Nami. She was happy for the many children who were finally able to buy new toys with the donations. At least someone who was fine. And, like after every concert, she just felt free.Together with Jessica and Lynn she left the stage and went to the others. Maria was already putting on her jacket. "Shall we go?" "I'll go for a little walk to stretch my feet. But you can go ahead." Nami also grabbed her jacket and started walking.
"See you later." Jessica waved to her and then went to the car with her family. Only Jamie remained.

On the beach, Nami took off his shoes and ran through the sand just past the waves that had washed ashore. A gentle wind blew in her face and cooled her cheeks, which were heated from singing, and the moon was reflected in the clear water. It was beautiful here and yet she was overcome by loneliness every time she came here. The sea had been her "home" for years and now it looked like she would never set foot on a ship again. All feelings of freedom in her were gone again and she felt a pressure on her heart.Sighing, she stopped and looked out over the sea. It was so close and yet so far for her.
Suddenly someone from behind put his arms around her waist and her head on her shoulder. Nami winced, but then saw Jamie in the corner of his eye. "Do you have to scare me like that? What are you doing here anyway? I thought you already went ahead with the others?" "Because I thought you would come here. Nami, I don't understand why you always go to the sea and torment yourself with it? "" Here you can indulge your thoughts nicely and, above all, undisturbed. "" What this smoker said is true, right? You miss the sea, am I right? "
Nami didn't answer for a while, but then: "Yes, I miss it. There is nothing better than watching the sun sink into the sea every evening or when you gently lap the waves against the ship in the morning You feel so free and unbound. But now this is my life and every time I stand here by the sea, I can say goodbye to my old life a little further in order to give my new one enough space. "
Jamie didn't answer that again. A few minutes passed in which both of them just stood there, looking out over the sea and each of them indulging in their own thoughts. They both enjoyed this moment of this calm, in which only the sound of the waves could be heard, and Nami felt this closeness to him again, which gave her security and made the loneliness disappear. But then Jamie remembered something again: "Oh yes, I almost forgot. If we are here alone and undisturbed, without the others: Happy Birthday again." He gave her a kiss on the neck, "I love you. "" Thanks. "" Do you want to stay here or should we go? "" Let's go. I'm getting cold. "Nami broke away from Jamie's embrace and together they walked the few meters back to the house. There Nami felt for the first time that evening how tired she actually was.But it wasn't a miracle either. Singing could be exhausting.
"I'm going to bed, otherwise I'll fall over in the hallway. Good night." "Good night."
Nami was about to climb the first step when she stopped again and turned to Jamie. "Com ... are you coming with me?" "To you?" Jamie was more than surprised by Nami's question. She had never asked him to do anything like this before.
"Yes. I just don't want to be alone at the moment." "No problem. You never have to be alone, you know that." "Yes ..." "Come on, come on." Jamie smiled at Nami, accepted her hand and gently pulled her up the stairs behind her and to her room. "Go in already. I just have to get my pajamas for a moment." He went on to his room and disappeared into it. During this time, Nami quickly put on her pajamas in her room and crawled under the warm blanket when Jamie came in. He joined her and pulled her into his arms. Nami immediately felt this cozy feeling of security again and closed her eyes, but she still couldn't sleep. It was too strange to suddenly have someone lying next to you again. The last time was two years ago ........ Zorro. Nami immediately tried again to put this name out of her head in order to finally be able to sleep, but she didn't succeed. More and more old memories of Zorro came up to her, which she had banned into the farthest corner of her head for so long. It had been a mistake to ask Jamie if he would stay with her, but she had just felt so alone earlier and just wanted someone with her.
With the memory of Zorro the pain in her heart came back and Nami had to pull herself together not to cry. Jamie had fallen asleep by now, she could tell from his calm breathing, but she didn't want to risk waking him. That would only raise uncomfortable questions again. She had to forget about Zorro as soon as possible. So she tried to think of something else, something pleasant.Suddenly she had a very old memory in her head again, a memory of the day when her home village of Kokos was finally liberated by Arlong and his people. That was the happiest day of her life. That's when she learned how important real friends are and how important they were to Luffy and the others. They had risked their lives just so that she could finally be free and happy again. So why was that two years ago? There was really no point.
Nami noticed that no matter what she tried to think about, her thoughts always turned in circles and she was about to start crying again. The best thing would be to think of nothing at all and to ignore the second body next to you as best you could, as if it weren't there at all. Maybe then she could finally sleep.

The next morning, Nami woke up when something moved next to her. While still half asleep, she noticed that she must have fallen asleep after all. This was confirmed to her when she felt the warmth of the rays of the sun shining through the window on her face and she perceived the brightness through her closed eyelids. Again something stirred next to her and it felt like someone had just sat down. Reluctantly, she opened her eyes and saw Jamie, who now also turned his head to her. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"
Nami now also sits down and first of all stretched. "Okay. Was awake for a long time yesterday because I couldn't sleep." She got up and went into the bathroom that belonged to the room to freshen up. She was still so tired that she first needed a few splashes of cold water to get reasonably fit.
"I'm going to get dressed briefly, then we can go down to breakfast together." Jamie called to her from the room and Nami heard the bedspread rustle.
"Is good."
Shortly afterwards the door opened and Nami peeked out of the bathroom to see if he was really gone. Then she went to her closet to pick out something to wear too. It seemed warm outside, so she opted for a denim skirt that came down to her knees and a short t-shirt. She quickly slipped in and went back to the bathroom. A few seconds later, Jamie was back in the room, freshly dressed, and together they wanted to leave it when Jessica suddenly stormed in. "Hey, Nami. There is someone who asked about you." "Who? Not one of the Navy again?" "No, such a handsome guy. He didn't want to tell me his name, but he did said you would know him, very well actually. "
Nami was more than surprised. Who could it be now? A handsome guy she knew very well. Who knew she lived here now? Inwardly, she was getting really edgy. She knew him very well. Could it be this time that ..... No! Definitely not. But who then?
"Hey, are you coming?"Jessica got her out of her thoughts again and Nami immediately ran past her out of the room. She had to know who that was.
"He's waiting in the garden!" Jessica called after her and then went downstairs with her brother as well.
"And you really don't know who that is?" asked this on the way.
“Nah, but I mean, I've seen him somewhere before.” “Well, I hope he's not an idiot like the one from the Navy and wants something from her. Who knows if it's even true that she has him knows. There aren't that many people. "

Nami ran down the stairs, through the living room, and out into the garden. When she saw the person, she stopped, startled. That couldn't be, could it ?? !! Wasn't that just a dream !? He wasn't really here, she just imagined it. But it looked so real. That hat, that black hair and most of all ......... that tattoo.
The person turned to her. "Hi Nami."
"Ace ??"

Sequel follows...And definitely faster this time, I promise !!!
