Chapter: Adventure at the train station
It was a cold January morning. It was pouring rain. Kai had been up since six o'clock. He sat in the kitchen, at the table, and stared out the window. Suddenly the door creaked. Ray came in. Kai was still looking silently out the window. Ray followed his gaze. "Shit weather, huh?" He said. Kai only let out a small "Hm". Ray sat down on a chair next to Kai. Seconds later, Hilary, Kenny, and Max walked in. "Good morning," said Max cheerfully. "Tomorrow," Ray said quietly. Kai got up. "What are you doing?" Asked Kenny. "I'll wake Tyson and Daichi," said Kai coldly and went into their room.
"What's the matter with him?" Asked Hilary. "What do you mean?" Said Ray. "Well, yes, he's always weird, but he's kind of different today," said Hilary. "You're right. He's acting weird," said Max. Kenny and Ray just shrugged their shoulders.
"Tyson get up, boy!" Shouted Kai so the others could hear too. He was holding Tyson by the collar. He woke up very slowly. "Kai? Wasen going? Let me sleep on," mumbled Tyson. Kai got really mad at him. "I want to see you in the kitchen in a minute, understand?" Shouted Kai. Tyson picked up his hat and ran from his room. Daichi sat in the corner. Kai scowled at him. "What about you?" Asked Kai in a strange tone. Daichi just waved and ran after Tyson.
"My goodness. What's wrong with them?" Tyson excited. "I don't know," Ray said quietly.
Kai didn't even notice that he had lost something. He put on his jacket and went out into the rain. Tyson noticed that he was gone and went back to his room. Then suddenly he saw a small piece of paper lying on the floor. He took it and went back into the kitchen. "Does this belong to any of you?" Tyson asked. Everyone shook their heads. "Read it," suggested Daichi. "It will definitely belong to Kai," said Hilary. "Maybe we shouldn't read it then," said Kenny.Max nodded. "Otherwise he'll get another crisis," he said. "Oh what," said Tyson without thinking. He unfolded the piece of paper and read it out loud: "Well, it says here, dear Kai! I want you to come to Russia again. Tala will pick you up at the train station that won't do much good either, because then we'll fetch you.
Your grandfather "
It became very quiet in the small kitchen. "Kai's grandfather? What else does he want?", Tyson seemed very disgusted. "Who's Kai's grandfather?" Asked Hilary and Daichi out of one mouth. "Oh, right. You haven't belonged to us yet. So ..." Kenny told them the story. When it ended it was dead quiet again. "Off to Russia," said Tyson suddenly. I looked at everyone. "Is what?" He asked. "How do we want to get him to Russia?" Asked Ray. "Uh ... I don't know," Tyson said, laughing slightly. Everyone looked like they wanted to hit their head on the table."Come on. We'll just follow Kai," said Hilary and had already put on her coat. Daichi and Max nodded. The others, except for Tyson, who didn't understand anything yet, put on their jackets. "Hey wait for me," Tyson yelled afterwards, squeezing into his jacket.
"And where do we want to look for him?" Asked Daichi. "At the train station," replied Max. "Hey, why at the train station. We’re looking for him at McDonald’s first," Tyson said and was about to run away, but Ray held him and pulled Tyson behind him. "How can you keep thinking about food?" Hilary asked. "I'm hungry," said Tyson. "Pull yourself together Tyson," said Max.
Soon they arrived at the train station. People were running everywhere. "Where should we look for him?" Asked Tyson. "We best split up," said Kenny. The others nodded. "I'd better go with Tyson and you guys look alone," said Hilary. "Why? I can search alone," said Tyson indignantly. "Yeah, until you find a hot dog stand or something," Hilary said.Tyson seemed offended. Hilary dragged him behind her. The others ran in different directions.
An hour passed and still no one had found Kai. Ray was walking down a flight of stairs when he heard two familiar voices.
"I didn't think you'd come," said someone familiar. Ray leaned against the wall and listened. "Neither do I," said Kai's voice. The other person giggled a bit funny. "And should I tell you something Tala, I'm going again now," said Kai. "That doesn't do you very much good. You know your grandfather would come for you one way or the other," said Tala. "Why are you doing this for him anyway?" Asked Kai. "Because I need money," said Tala, "and your grandfather offered me a lot of money if I bring you to Russia," said Tala. Kai didn't seem to be saying anything. For a long time nothing could be heard. Ray wondered. He went down the stairs. He had heard them next to the stairs. There was a black door there. It was half open. Ray went through it without hesitation. A long flight of stairs led down. This ran down Ray. Wasn't there a light to be seen? It must have been a kind of emergency exit. There was a black car at the exit. It went off. Ray sensed that Kai was sitting in there.
With his head bowed, Ray went back to where the search had started. The others were already there. "Ray, were you lucky?" Daichi called over. Ray said very quietly what was happening. "And now?" Asked Max. "I have no idea," whispered Ray. "We have to go to Russia," said Tyson seriously now. Daichi yawned. "How are you going to do that?" Asked Max. Tyson shrugged. "We have to come up with something," he said afterwards ...
