Chapter 6: Kimie in Danger

"Sesshoumaru is taking its time."
Kimie yawned tiredly. This youkai had left the whole group in the middle of Wallachia and by now everyone had been waiting for three hours. Shortly after they woke up, Sesshoumaru had left the field without explanations and only with the instruction that the others should stay here and wait and he had taken Ah-Un with him.

The little girl was right about that, as Kimie had to admit to herself. The sun shone pleasantly down from the sky and the calm that lay over this place was very pleasant. Jaken paid little attention to the whole thing, however, when he separated himself from the group and sat down next to a tree, where he also dozed off relatively quickly.
So maybe just two minutes passed when Inuki suddenly perked up his ears and began to pace restlessly back and forth. Then he let out a growl.
"What about you, Inuki?", Rin asked the dog and looked at him questioningly. Kimie was a little irritated at first, but she suspected that something was going to happen.After all, Inuki had never growled for no reason. She got up and let her gaze wander, but couldn't see or hear anything suspicious. A strange feeling arose in her that worried her very much. She was about to say something to Rin when suddenly something shot out of the ground in front of them. Startled everyone jumped back and Jaken was finally awake again. What they all saw now, they would have loved to do without. Now there was this demon, which looked like a gigantic worm, only equipped with long, tentacle-like tentacles. Four both left and right in the middle of his thick body, which met where they were in contact with the rest of the body and looked as if they had grown out of him like creepers. It looked a little as if a single thick tentacle had been split into four parts. The demon seemed to have no eyes, but only a mouth, which was located at the very front of its pointed head and was equipped with a multitude of sharp teeth."Is that an ugly beast!", Kimie stated after he had digested the first shock. The demon seemed to have heard her remark because he hissed at her menacingly. Kimie was very careful and kept a safe distance from the monster. > The thing has no eyes, but the hearing seems to be all the better. <, thought the girl and felt somehow helpless. How should one be able to defend oneself against such a thing as an ordinary person? On the one hand, she would have loved to run away, but she couldn't just run away and especially leave Rin here with these cattle!
Suddenly the attention of this monster worm seemed to be focused on Rin. The little girl looked up at the monster, trembling and afraid, unable to move. The demon rocked back and forth strangely, as if he were trying to gauge something. Kimie suspected what he was up to when he hissed again."Rin! Get away from there !!" She ran to Rin and tried to prevent the worst. With its mouth open, the demon rushed at Rin, who cried out in horror when Kimie, holding her sword and scabbard across, thwarted his plans. The monster now bite into the weapon and tried to break it. Kimie was pressed to the ground by the power of the demon, but she was able to keep him at a distance with her sword. Rin, who had been pushed aside by Kimie at the last moment, stared at the scenario in utter horror. "Kimie-san!"
"Come on! Run away! Get out of here!" Kimie called to the little girl. Rin hesitated at first. She wasn't comfortable with the idea of ​​just running away, but did as she was told. She got up and ran over to Jaken. "Jaken-sama! We have to help Kimie-san!", Rin pleaded desperately to the toad demon and took him by the arm, but what should the two of them have done? "Well? At least it tastes good?", Kimie asked sarcastically and she felt a touch of anger. The worm spat out the fragment of the sword shortly afterwards. Apparently it wasn't exactly his taste after all. He paused for a moment, then he shot head first straight at the ground with lightning speed and disappeared under the earth. Only a large hole remained in the ground, but now there was no trace of the monster.
Now a bit perplexed and as if ordered and not picked up, Kimie was still standing on the same spot.
"Where ... where is he?" She let her gaze wander uncertainly. Suddenly it was dead quiet. That struck her as extremely deceptive. Something was wrong here. Her heart was beating to her neck and she had certainly never been under such tension. She hardly dared to breathe. Inuki looked around carefully and his ears seemed to be eagerly listening for suspicious noises.“Kimie-san!” Rin just wanted to run towards the girl, relieved. She thought the danger was over now, but Kimie seemed to see it differently. She immediately called to Rin: "Rin! Stop immediately!"
