Chapter: The trip to the Middle Ages ...

Kagome sighed. School was over again, but class had been a complete ordeal. She had already been absent so often that she wondered how she was going to find the connection again. Well, luckily it was holidays now.
When she finally got home, she had hardly taken off her shoes when Souta came running up to her, very excited. "Kagome! There you are at last! Quick, come with me!" With that, her younger brother took the girl by the hand and pulled her behind him. Kagome was completely confused. "Souta! What's going on? Don't pull like that!"
She was about to give him a hard lecture when Souta opened the sliding door to the living room. The person who saw Kagome now sitting in the room turned to look at her, smiling. "Hello, cousin!"
"Kimie! It's nice to see you!" Kagome let Souta Souta be and fell overjoyed into her cousin's arms. The two hadn't seen each other in so long."Is it great that you are coming to visit us! After we haven't seen each other for almost three years. As I can see, you seem to be doing very well. When I think about all the illnesses you've had lately."
Kagome paused. "Like right now?"
"Your grandfather told me.", Kimie said and pointed to the old man who was having a cup of tea. Kagome gave him an abundantly contrite look. "Grandpa ..." She didn't want to know what kind of illness he came up with this time.

"The last time I saw him three years ago, he was still a puppy and you had just taken him to your home, Kimie." Kagome stood up again. "But tell me, how long are you going to stay?"
"You want to get rid of me, don't you?", Kimie asked offended and laughed. "Well, I originally thought about a month."
"But of course you can stay longer if you want, Kimie.", Kagome's mother said with a smile.
Kagome was happy. Finally she saw her cousin again.Although the two had often had telephone contact, they both lived in different cities in Japan and therefore rarely had the opportunity to see each other. But now there was still a problem: Should Kagome tell Kimie about Inu Yasha and the others? The rest of the family must have kept this a secret, but how could they do that? Perhaps she would have to cut back on her excursions into the Middle Ages for this month. But she still had to talk to the others about that.

It was getting dark.
Kagome and Kimie had spent the first two hours of their meeting talking about all sorts of things. Kagome interrupted the conversation to say that she had to go away and do an errand.
From the guest room, Kimie had a clear view of the courtyard. There was an elongated bag on her bed. Kimie trained in kendo from an early age and also owned a real sword, which she kept in that bag.She couldn't just carry it around with her when she was on the street.
"Maybe I'll train a little more.", Kimie said to herself. A few exercises in the yard wouldn't hurt. When she had just picked up her bag, her gaze fell once more out of the window. She paused. "Hm? That's Kagome. Where is she going?"
Inuki, who had been lying on the floor, listened up. He got up and put his front paws on the window sill so that he too could look out. Kimie continued to follow Kagome with her eyes.
"The shrine? What does she want there? If I remember correctly, it's just this old fountain."
Suddenly Kimie saw Kagome lose something shiny that fell to the floor. Kagome himself did not notice and continued on her way to the well. Kimie wanted to open the window first and call after her, but she decided to follow her cousin. Of course Inuki went with her.Halfway through, Kimie noticed that she was carrying her bag, but she didn't want to run back and put it down, so she took it with her.
In the courtyard, Kimie first ran to the place where the shiny object had to be. But she didn't find it straight away, but Inuki did. He pointed this out to her with a short bark.

Kimie's gaze fell on the small shrine in which the fountain was located. She got up and walked over to it, but when she opened the sliding doors, Kagome was not there.
"Kagome? Where are you?"

"That's strange. I clearly saw you walking in here."
It had occurred to Kimie that Kagome might have been hiding in the well, but the idea struck her as too absurd.Strangely enough, Inuki's attention seemed to be on this very well. Standing on his back legs, he looked into it and kept glancing at Kimie, as if he wanted to say something to her. Kimie hesitated, but then went to the well. However, she couldn't even see the ground.
"Kagome?" She called, but there was no answer. A moment later she shook her head. "What nonsense! Not in the well! That's ridiculous!", She said to herself. But when Inuki barked loudly once and then started to jump into the well, Kimie's hair stood on end. "Inuki! Are you forsaken by all good spirits ?!" She grabbed her dog, but this then pulled her with him into the well. Kimie cried out in horror for a moment and screwed up her eyes, but suddenly she had the feeling that she was not falling, but rather floating. With her arms still wrapped around her dog, she hesitantly opened her eyes."But what...?!"

As always, Kagome had met her friends at the bone-eating well and briefly explained the new situation to them.
Sango nodded. "I see. And because you don't know whether to tell your cousin everything, you have to sit out for a month."
"Yes, but maybe for a little longer. I'm really sorry."
