Chapter 2
Kimie was lucky in adversity. Though it had drifted quite a long way, it was now back on the safe bank of the river.
"Ow, my head ...", Kimie mumbled exhausted as she slowly regained consciousness and opened her eyes. What happened? Hadn't she fallen into a river? At first she thought she had only dreamed it all; the fall in the well, the meeting with Inuyasha and the others up to the fall in the river. But now Kimie had to realize that she had probably not dreamed after all. She was in a strange environment and was totally wet and soaked from top to bottom. She sat up with difficulty.
"What a trip ... Hopefully this was the first and last time something like this happened to me."
After another short pause, Kimie stood up and let her gaze wander.Where was she? And what time would it be by now? But in any case the sun was already going down.
The girl found a forest directly behind her. In general, everything here seemed to consist only of forest and trees.
"Hmm ... I will hardly find a forester here ..." Kimie muttered ironically. Simply going into the forest would certainly not have been the right way to go. Of course, she could easily retrace her path with the help of the river. She did that and ran opposite the current along the river.
The sun seemed to be disappearing faster and faster and it would soon be completely dark. Kimie wasn't sure what to do then. Maybe just move on? But that could be dangerous in the dark. Although stopping now, she wasn't comfortable either.
By the time the sun was completely gone, Kimie had followed the river. Now she could hardly see anything and therefore decided to wait for the next morning, although she felt a bit uncomfortable with it.She sat by the river and listened to her surroundings. She would hardly sleep that night, or not at all.
"Are there any dangerous animals here?" Kimie wondered quietly. This question should be answered faster than she might want, when she saw two glowing eyes on the other side of the river, which were staring at her directly from out of a bush. But it didn't seem like an animal's eyes, and if they did, it was a really big animal.
Suddenly the monster jumped out from behind the bushes and started to cross the river. That shouldn't be difficult for the cattle, as big as they were. It looked like a lizard that was too big and hungry for fresh meat.
Kimie immediately jumped up and looked for her sword, but only then did she realize that she wasn't carrying her bag with her. She must have lost it while being carried away by the river. Startled, she stared at the monster that was coming straight at her."Okay! So much for 'dangerous animals'!" With that, Kimie ran straight into the forest that stretched behind her. She could clearly hear that something was haunting her.
"Get out of here! I don't taste good anyway! Believe me, you'll only get terrible stomach upsets!", Kimie tried to convince the monster, but without success. So she just kept walking. But soon she felt the exhaustion and didn't know what to do. "Help !! Please help me! Is there nobody here ?! Help !!", she shouted, but who should be hearing her here? Without even paying close attention to the way, Kimie kept walking until she stumbled over something and fell.
> Oh no! It's over now! <, flashed through her head and turned around. The cattle was right behind her, jumping and opening their mouths. Kimie screwed up her eyes and crouched on the floor. But the expected attack did not materialize, instead she only heard a short bang that reminded her of a whip. Then it was quiet ...
After a few seconds still nothing happened, Kimie reluctantly opened her eyes again and dared a tentative look behind her. The cattle that had been chasing them lay motionless on the ground. It appeared to be dead. She was so relieved that she didn't even wonder why it was dead so suddenly in the first place. Before she could waste a single thought on it, however, she heard a voice that probably belonged to a little girl: “Are you all right?” At the same time there was a strange noise that sounded like an animal was puffing. Kimie looked away and immediately jumped up again. "AAAH !!! Not another one!" She was about to flee again when she hit a tree with a full jug. This time, however, she did not get up again after lying on the floor again.
Inuyasha, Kagome and the others had to retreat to the nearby village shortly after this incident on the river. There they had reported the events to Kaede. Waiting for the fog to clear again and for the next day to break, they had considered how best to approach this matter.
"Taking in the weather when someone has been swept away by a river is really no picnic," said Inuyasha and Shippo added: "We also have to look for Inuki."
"I suppose that should be unnecessary.", Miroku replied. "If Inuki does exactly what I suspect, that is, if he searches for Kimie on his own, and we assume that he has actually found her, then we will automatically meet him when we have found Kimie. "
"Kirara and I are looking in the air. From there we have a good overview. The best thing will be, we fly off the river.", Sango suggested. The others nodded in agreement.
Kagome looked down and sighed.
"Kagome, how do you rate your cousin?", Kaede asked the girl." Do you think she will be able to manage on her own for a while until you have found her? "
Kagome hesitated before answering. "Well ... Kimie is already strong, but she had never dealt with demons before. She doesn't really allow herself to be intimidated by other people. But what happens here cannot be compared to what happens here. what happens in our time. "
"Yes, of course not," the old woman agreed.
"Well, I'll be on my way then," said Sango. "Come Kirara!" Immediately the demon cat jumped to her side and left the hut with her mistress. "I'll help Sango with the search.", Miroku said and left the hut as well.
> Hopefully the two will succeed. Kagome thought worriedly. Inuyasha had meanwhile sat against the wall without comment. He didn't want to imagine what the worst could have happened to Kimie.
Outside, Kirara transformed and Sango climbed onto her back.Miroku sat down behind her and started to hold on to her, but of course he had other things on his mind. But before he could do it, Sango had rammed her elbow at him. "Don't even think about it! You will let that stay beautiful! There really is no time for that!" She warned him explicitly. Miroku sighed in disappointment and shortly afterwards Kirara took off.
Kimie didn't regain consciousness until she felt the rays of the sun on her face. But now her memories were really in the bucket. She hardly remembered what had happened. Only because she ran away from a huge animal or something like that. And then there was this voice and another beast. Then came a film tear ...
Kimie only knew one thing: it was warm and comfortably quiet here. Slowly she opened her eyes. The bright rays of the sun shone on her face and she raised her hand to be able to see anything at all."Oh! You woke up!" Suddenly came a happy voice. It looked familiar to Kimie, she had heard it before somewhere. When she turned her head slightly to the side, she looked directly into the smiling face of a little girl.
"Are you feeling better?" Asked the girl. Kimie was quite irritated. "Where am I? What happened?"
"You passed out. A demon had stalked you, but luckily you seem to be feeling better again. What's your name?"
"Uh ... Kimie. And ... who are you?" Kimie slowly sat up. Demon? So last night's "beast" really was a demon?
The little girl smiled and replied cheerfully, "My name is Rin
Aha ... "Kimie let her gaze wander. Apparently she was still in this forest, but apart from her and Rin nobody seemed to be there.
"Are you alone?", Kimie asked a little confused, but Rin shook his head. "No, I'm traveling with Sesshoumaru-sama, Jaken-sama and Ah-Un.Sesshoumaru-sama saved you by killing the demon that hunted you. I tell him you woke up. "And before Kimie could reply, Rin was gone.
After a moment, Kimie was relieved. She hadn't dreamed all of this, as she had first hoped, but luckily it had turned out well again. But then she stopped. The name Rin had mentioned sounded strangely familiar. Sesshoumaru ... Wasn't that Inu Yasha's half-brother? Kimie had to swallow abruptly. She was just missing that! She didn't even know Sesshoumaru, but what she had heard and heard at the river when she was still with Kagome and the others, had reached her. She was definitely not keen on running into this youkai after she had already chased a giant lizard behind her. Within a split second she was on her feet and wanted to run away, but when someone blocked her way.> Oh shit! <, thought Kimie as she stared into those cool, gold-colored eyes. Immediately she took a few steps back. Sessoumaru just stood in front of her in silence and didn't move, as did Kimie herself. Almost the same situation as at the river. He faced her like that too.
> What do I do now? <, thought Kimie and there was no sign of Rin either. She looked around uncertainly. What should she do now?
> Well ... maybe I should at least thank him. It can't do any harm. <Then she took a deep breath and then bowed to Sesshoumaru. "I heard from Rin that you helped me because of the demon. Thank you."
No Answer.
> Hm? ... And now? <Kimie paused and didn't really dare to look up again. But in the end she managed to do it and carefully looked up. Sesshoumaru was still standing on the same spot, but somehow he looked as if he hadn't really listened to her. "Hello?Uh ... is anyone home? ", Kimie asked insecure and straightened up again.
"Save your thanks.", The youkai suddenly came back, so that Kimie was slightly startled for a short moment. "I didn't
