Chapter 5: Conversation with a Youkai

Rin looked around anxiously. She was left alone with Ah-Un at this river and around her were now these weird men, about 30 to 35 in number, on their horses and they had weapons with them; Swords, spears, bows and arrows.
Ah-Un was held in check by a group of these men a few feet away and to make matters worse, Rin couldn't see Jaken anywhere.
"Hey, little one!", A man suddenly spoke to the little girl. Rin winced and looked up at him with a frightened look as he steered his horse towards them. "Are you traveling alone?" He asked menacingly. Rin didn't answer, she just trembled with fear.
"I asked you something! Please answer!", The man ordered loudly and in a sharp voice, but again he received no answer.Gradually he lost patience. "You little brat! I'll teach you to speak!" With that he roughly grabbed Rin's arm that she cried out.
Suddenly another person appeared behind the bushes on the scene, who landed in the middle of the group, so that the horses jumped apart, and with a well-aimed blow, knocked the robber off his horse. Rin was released again.
“Sesshoumaru-sama!” Relieved, the little girl ran up to the youkai and hid behind him. Sesshoumaru gave the robbers, who were now backing away a few meters, with a cool look. The robber he had just pushed off his horse got up again. He stared angrily at Sesshoumaru. "Tell me, you don't have them all anymore! What kind of guy are you?"
"Hey, you! You feel particularly strong with small children, don't you?" Kimie's voice now penetrated the robbers. The girl just came out from behind a tree, with Inuki by her side.At first there was a short silence among the robbers, then one of them could be heard suddenly shouting: "Hey! Look at that cute little one! Not bad, huh? I wouldn't push her off the edge of the bed!"
Another joined in: "Yes! We'll take them with us! Then the nights won't be so lonely in the future!"
At first Kimie thought she had misheard, but then she tapped her head with her index finger. "You can bend that! What do you take me for ?!"
"Oh! Are we still virgins?", Asked one of the robbers in great amusement and earned a loud unanimous laugh from his cronies. “I could have sworn that the little one there was from you.” He nodded over to Rin, who was still hiding behind Sesshoumaru and looked anxiously at the men.
"And that's the father, isn't it?" Said the robber who had threatened Rin earlier with a laugh and pointed to Sesshoumaru. Now the whole group burst out laughing.Kimie turned bright red with anger. Then she bent down for a stone and aimed it at the robber who had spoken last. The stone hit him right on the head. "Argh! You stupid goat! What are you thinking of?", He yelled at Kimie, but she just stuck out her tongue. "That was for Rin and your stupid sayings!"
The robber just wanted to answer something, but he didn't get around to it, because another robber, who appears to be the leader, suddenly spoke up: "That's enough! That was enough fun for the moment." He now turned to it directly Sesshoumaru: "So, and now leave us your valuables and the woman, then we will let you go without further ado."
"Hey! Don't call me woman again!", Kimie interfered again without waiting for Sesshoumaru's answer. "I don't let such outrageous guys who attack small children offer me that! Hiss off! And very quickly, or ..."
"Or what?", The leader asked challengingly, but instead of giving him an answer, Kimie drew her sword and got into a fighting position.Holding the blade in front of her body, she shot the agitator of the robbers a penetrating look. He and his followers stared at each other a little perplexed, then they all began to laugh out loud again. "That is supposed to be a joke !?" said the leader, amused. "Do you expect us to get scared of you now, little one?"
"Would be better, otherwise I'll be really uncomfortable!"
"Ha! It's really only laughable!"
"Oh yeah? Let's see if you can see it that way in a few seconds!" Kimie wasn't joking, on the contrary, she was very serious.
The robber raised an eyebrow to examine it. Then he turned his horse over to the girl, dismounted, and stepped up to her.
"You don't dare to do that anyway!", He said with conviction and sat up in front of her, but Kimie didn't seem impressed. “I wouldn't be so sure if I were you!” And with that she attacked the man. She raised her sword over her head and then dropped the blade.Before she could catch him, however, he jumped back.
"Hey! You must have gone crazy !?", he yelled at Kimie and now also drew his sword. Without consideration, he tried to hit the girl. Kimie was able to fend off any of his attacks and apparently easily evaded the other blows. Years of practice had probably had an effect. Then Kimie decided to counterattack when the robber tried to bring his sword down on her again. She knocked away the opponent's sword with a counterattack. The man could still hold it, but in that brief moment, in which he was without any cover, Kimie struck again. She quickly let the blade of her sword whistle diagonally upwards from below. The robber gave a short scream, then felt something warm running down his face. It was blood; his blood! Kimie had caught his left cheek with her sword and now left a deep cut.A murmur went through the group of robbers. Their leader growled angrily and wiped the blood from his cheek with the back of his hand, but something new came out of the cut immediately. "You wretched bitch! You will pay for it!"
Kimie held her sword in front of her again. "We'll see that later."
Concentrating only on her opponent in front of her, she did not notice how one of the other robbers was now pulling an arrow from behind her back and stretching it onto his bow. His leader saw that, of course, and grinned confident of victory. But before his henchman could shoot the arrow, it was thrown from his horse with a powerful blow and thrown to the ground. The attack came from Sesshoumaru. The robber was still alive, but it wouldn't last much longer.
"Yak! Take Rin and Ah-Un and then you cross the river together. Then just go on.", The youkai instructed his servant, who had also come back and watched the event.Sesshoumaru nodded to Rin that she should go to Jaken, which she wanted to do. But suddenly one of the robbers blocked her way. "Where are you going?" He asked and grinned. "You don't want to go already?"
"Grab it, Inuki!" Suddenly came the command from Kimie. Before the man knew what was happening to him, he was pushed off his horse by a large black dog, similar to a wolf, and nailed to the ground. Inuki bared her teeth angrily and growled menacingly.
"Thank you, Kimie-san! Thank you, Inuki!", Rin called to both of them and finally reached Jaken and Ah-Un. Jaken obeyed Sesshoumaru's instructions and set about walking on with the little girl and the dragon. An attempt by two robbers to prevent the three from disappearing has now been foiled by Sesshoumaru. With a well-aimed attack, he instantly got both men off their horses. But he did not yet disassemble it into its individual parts.He still waited until Jaken had crossed the river with Rin and Ah-Un. Kimie saw to her astonishment that Ah-Un had the gift of flying. So the dragon crossed the river effortlessly, with Jaken and Rin on his back. After landing safely on the other bank, they continued on their way as Sesshoumaru had instructed. Now Sesshoumaru let his light whip speak for himself and carried the two robbers who were lying on the ground in front of him to the afterlife. Then he took on the robber who wanted to shoot the arrow so deviously. It was also over quickly. A targeted thrust of the hand into the heart quickly cleared the problem.
The other robbers didn't seem to know exactly what to do next. After all, none of them had expected anything like that.
Kimie had viewed it all with mixed feelings. She had never been in such a situation before. She stood around and actually attacked other people with her sword!And she'd already injured one. Would she kill someone too? Would she even be able to do that? Although she had already killed a demon with her sword, but could that be compared to killing a person? She had to admit that she didn't know at the moment.
Inuki continued to participate in the fight. He was now targeting a robber who was also pulling out a bow and trying to take an arrow from his quiver. Before he could do this, however, the dog had already jumped at him and nailed him to the ground. Meanwhile, Sesshoumaru easily finished off a group of five robbers with his light whip.
"You must be completely crazy !?", the robber captain yelled while he was watching Sesshoumaru. He had never seen anything like that before. In a matter of moments, several of his people were gutted by a single person.
"It can't possibly be a human!"one of the other robbers suddenly shouted with a horrified look at Sesshoumaru." That is a monster! "And that was the man's last sentence, because the youkai had already made him a head shorter.
The leader of the robbers was so angry that he attacked Kimie again, apparently without sense or reason. However, the latter was able to repel his attacks again. During the duel, the girl saw out of the corner of her eye how Sesshoumaru took out a few more robbers who were trying to interfere. Her leader also noticed this and just as suddenly as he had just attacked Kimie, he broke off his attacks.
"Damn it! We're pulling out!", He shouted to the rest of his gang, which Sesshoumaru had not yet processed into Schaschlick. The man jumped on his horse and threw one last menacing look at Kimie and Sesshoumaru before leading his gang away from the battlefield. The horses ran away
