Chapter 7: The ways part

"You on! So you've finally found your way here, Inuyasha.", Sesshoumaru said with a cool voice and an equally cool look at his younger half-brother. This was visibly pissed off, if only because of this remark. "Shut up!" Inuyasha replied gruffly and pointed with Tessaiga to the person opposite. "I've finally had enough of you! Actually, I should have guessed that you kidnapped Kimie! But I am very surprised that you didn't take care of her right away. Didn't feel like getting your fingers dirty this time to do what ?! "
Kimie listened up. That wasn't really true, after all, she had voluntarily gone with Sesshoumaru. However, she didn't know how to explain that to the others without it sounding too stupid. Apparently none of them would willingly go anywhere with Sesshoumaru, let alone stay with him, as she had done. Although still quite unsettled, but with the wish to clear up this matter, Kimie turned to Inu Yasha: "Wait, Inu Yasha! This is all a mistake ...!" But the Hanyou did not listen to her at all, because now he jumped straight to his half-brother. This skilfully dodged the first blow with Tessaiga and then drew his sword Toukijin in turn.
"As always. You just wiggle Tessaiga around randomly.", Sesshoumaru said condescendingly. Inuyasha glared at him angrily.
"I said: Shut up! I'll show you who is the stronger here!"
And with that he attacked again. This time the blades of the swords clashed loudly.
The others watched the fight unsettled and from a safe distance.Nobody knew how this thing would end. Kimie watched the duel with mixed feelings. Although she still wanted to explain to the others that the whole situation was not what they thought it was, she doubted that it would have changed anything. Apparently there were always arguments between Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru, as she discovered when she arrived at the river, and there was nothing she could have done about that.
Sesshoumaru was fending off another attack from Inuyasha and repulsed him for a brief moment. "Inuyasha, you really need a lot more practice. You will never hit me like this.", The youkai said confidently.
"You're a real smart ass today, you idiot!" The Hanyou growled angrily.
"And you are a worthless half-breed!", Sesshoumaru replied coldly. Inuyasha could have burst. This rumbling of his older half-brother really only got on his nerves and made him furious. He would love to silence that loudmouth, but it will be a difficult undertaking. Sesshoumaru, on the other hand, seemed like calm itself. You couldn't tell at all what he was thinking or how he was looking at the situation.
Kimie had listened to this argument, as had the others, and now raised an eyebrow skeptically. For a brief moment this quarrel seemed to her like a typical conflict among bad-tempered siblings, apart from the use of swords.
With ironic Unteron, Shippo mumbled: "Sibling love is really something nice ..."
Miroku put a hand to his chin thoughtfully. "You can say what you want. Even if Sesshoumaru might seem more skilled in the fight and his last remark should really be rated as a direct hit, then Inu Yasha is verbally the superior part."
"I heard that, Miroku!" Inuyasha came back and he raised his sword threateningly."Wait until I've finished with Sesshoumaru, because then it's your turn!"
"Maybe it would help your concentration if you didn't take everything so seriously right away, Inuyasha!", The monk replied with conciliatory intent, but probably only added more fuel to the fire. Inuyasha made a dismissive gesture in Miroku's direction. “Oh, shut up!” With that he turned back to Sesshoumaru. Holding Tessaiga in his hand ready to attack, the Hanyou immediately launched the next attack, but was again fought off by his older half-brother. Before Inuyasha could repeat the failed attempt, Sesshoumaru dodged and jumped several meters away.
"I'm tired of fighting you for today, Inuyasha.", The youkai said coolly and nodded in Kimie's direction. "Take the girl with you and leave it alone."
Inuyasha thought at first that she had misheard. His ears twitched strangely, as if he had to recall what he had just said."I must have misheard myself !?", he shouted to his half-brother in disbelief and didn't look really enthusiastic. "Since when have you been so cowardly?"
"It has absolutely nothing to do with cowardice.", Sesshoumaru replied calmly and then put Toukijin back in his pocket. Now Inuyasha was feeling thoroughly ridiculed. He suspected it was just a new ruse by his half-brother, but it was absolutely not his style.
Kagome and the others didn't seem to really know what to think of the whole thing either. Unsettled, they exchanged their looks. Kimie, however, now risked a tentative glance at Sesshoumaru. What he had just said meant in plain language that she could now walk again. She could have done that at any time beforehand, because at least he had given her the free choice. But somehow it seemed to have become quite natural for her over time that she had stayed near him, even if it had only been a few days. Now she would go back with Kagome and the others, but she absolutely had to say something to Sesshoumaru. Something she wanted to tell him earlier.
The eyes of the two met for a brief moment. Kimie couldn't guess what Sesshoumaru was thinking. He looked as inscrutable as ever, but she found his golden eyes just as fascinating as when they first met at the river. She wanted to talk to him again. But even before she had opened her mouth to speak, the youkai spoke again, but this time to the entire group: "I would advise you all to get out of here as soon as possible. I can also change my mind very easily." And with these words, Sesshoumaru turned his back on the group and Inuyasha and disappeared without another word between the trees of the nearby forest. Inuyasha furiously shouted a few curses after him, but did not follow his half-brother.Sullenly, he put Tessaiga back in the scabbard and trotted back to the others. "This guy will drive me to white heat at some point!"
"Don't complain now, Inuyasha.", Kagome said calmly. "We should be glad that everything turned out well again."
The Hanyou nodded slightly, but would have loved to hit his half-brother with his sword. Well, maybe next time.
Shippo stood next to Inuki and happily stroked his head. “And Inuki is sure to be very relieved by this end of the story. Isn't it?” Inuki barked once, as if to confirm.
Kimie was silent at first and looked as if spellbound in the direction in which Sesshoumaru had disappeared. Only the voice of Kagome brought it back to reality: "Kimie? What's wrong with you? Aren't you happy?"
When she saw the uncertain look in Kagome's eyes, Kimie immediately shook her head quickly. "Nonsense, Kagome! Of course I'm happy!"That wasn't a lie either, she was indeed happy, but she also felt somehow weird. But she couldn't think about it any further, because Inuyasha caught Kimie's attention. He eyed her for a while with a scrutinizing look and more skeptical Eyebrow, then he came closer to her and sniffed at her clothes. Well, Inuyasha was half a dog demon, Kimie knew, but what he was doing just seemed a little strange to her. "What. .. What are you sniffing? ", she asked insecure. Shortly afterwards the Hanyou looked at her and answered dryly:" I don't like your smell. If I were you I would take a bath. "
> PLEASE ?! <At first Kimie had the feeling that she had misheard herself and the others also looked a bit shocked. Inuyasha almost never minced words, but that was a bit tough. But when the first shock was digested, Kimie vented her pent-up anger: "What an insolence! What do you think you're saying something like that straight to my face ?! "
Inuyasha immediately covered her ears and backed away in horror. Somehow, for a brief moment, he had heard such a strange squeaking in his ear. His sensitive hearing found it hard to take such a noise. "Now don't yell at me like that!" Replied the Hanyou, partly indignant and partly tormented. "I didn't mean that as an insult! But the smell of sesshoumaru sticks to you everywhere and I can't get it off!"
Kimie's anger abruptly gave way to irritation. "I beg your pardon?"
Inuyasha came up to the girl again and sniffed her clothes again, but this time from a safe distance. "And how you smell like him!", He confirmed his statement and wrinkled his nose. "Tell me, what did you guys do? Did he want to eat you? I can hardly imagine otherwise how you should have come near him." The comment about eating was of course not meant seriously as such, but Inuyasha was interested it was what had probably happened between Kimie and Sesshoumaru.Kagome also looked curious and asked her cousin about it too. But this hesitated to answer. First she had to think for herself where it came from that she was carrying Sesshoumaru's smell with her. Then she came up with a few possibilities that could explain this. Once Sesshoumaru had carried Kimie across this river, then she had been near him again when she had taken care of his damaged kimono. And finally there was the robber thing. She had held onto him, lost consciousness, and woke up leaning against him again. But should she tell the others that way? That had to sound too absurd! Kimie finally brought herself to stick with the flow thing. Maybe at some point she would tell Kagome all of the rest, but she really didn't feel like it right now. The others were satisfied with this explanation, even if Inuyasha still looked a little skeptical. But he didn't ask any further questions.
"A shame.", Miroku said suddenly with feigned regret. "I would have guessed it would be a cozy togetherness."
"Shut
