Fanfic: Sleeping hell?

Translation

Gary ..." I muttered, hoping to talk to him.
"Indeed!" Replied the redhead.
I didn't know how to build on that, so I stayed quiet and watched him make adjustments to the vehicles.
"What are you doing there?" I asked after a while.
He sighed deeply.
"I'm sending the machines back so that no one can pin us up for stealing!"
He seemed to be annoyed, so I hardly dared to go on.
"So nobody knows we left?" I speculated.
"Exactly! Smart girl!"
I scowled at him.
"Why are you making fun of me?" I asked directly.
“Because it's fun!” The answer was immediate.
I grinned.
"Very quick-witted!"
The machines went back and I watched them go.
"Don't get used to having the last word with me, girl! That can have fatal consequences!"
He walked past me towards the forest.
"Is that supposed to be a threat?"I asked, unimpressed.
"That's a promise! Now come on!"
I followed him silently and soon we saw a warm glow of light penetrate the branches.
The other two were sitting comfortably around the campfire and - to my surprise - Shayne was sitting there too.
“Shayne!” I ran up to him and hugged him. "I was worried!"
My eyes filled with tears for a short time, but I was able to swallow them in time.
Shayne looked at me, positively shocked.
Next to him, Jim rolled over with laughter.
"Why were you worried? I was never in danger! I just had to block the door in case someone came in!"
"And how did you get out of there?"
I sat between him and Gary, who was already seated.
“Trade secret!” He winked at me.
"So ... what now?" Jim had slowly recovered from his laughing attack, breaking the tense atmosphere that had arisen.
"Why did we even start at night?"I asked everyone.
"The organization wanted to shut down the case! Although it was a real cry for help ... they know something we don't know! But we want to find out, so we'll solve this on our own!" Said Jim.
The others nodded.
"They always pinch when things get serious!" Sighed Gary.
General nod again.
"And what do we have to do?" I asked.
"Well ... we don't know much either! A village in the mountains. The village elder senses some kind of threat! We have to hurry, otherwise it might be too late!", He said.
"We should go to sleep! But someone has to keep watch!" Said Gary.
"I'll do that!" Said Jim.
"We'd better take turns!" Shayne took the second shift.
“Anna, can I talk to you?” He took my shoulder and told me to go for a walk with him.
When we were far enough from the camp, he started a conversation.
"And? Have you got used to it a bit?Do you remember anything? "
I shook my head.
"But I had such a strange dream today ..."
He looked at me curiously.
"Shayne appeared in it ... and you ... and I was there too ... and we were very happy and then we met Jim. We didn't speak a word, we communicated with the heart. I felt very comfortable ... and then Shayne woke me up. "
I sighed and thought about the dream again.
"I have no idea what that means!" I said, half desperate.
He said nothing and just walked silently next to me.
"But I have one more question ..."
“Yes?” He looked at me again, but didn't give me his full attention.
He was probably thinking about something.
"Jim told me about this organization, but somehow that sounds very illogical to me ... about fighting evil monsters ..."
He grinned broadly.
"I can imagine that it is difficult to understand ... but ... for people from another world, for people who do not quite belong in this world ... it is not understandable. He explained it to you as best he can! Just let it rest on that! "
I took a deep breath.
"If you think so!" I said and shrugged my shoulders, "Do we want to go back?"
"Yes ... you should lie down again, but I'll wander around here a little longer, something is weird ..."
I looked at him worried.
"You go quietly! It's not far!"
He laughed at me and so I turned and went back.
I looked around again, but he was no longer to be seen.

Jim sat by the fire and looked into the flames.
“Well?” I came up to him and sat down next to him.
He didn't answer me.
"What are you thinking about?"
Again he gave me no answer.
I tapped him lightly on the shoulder and he winced slightly.
“Did you say something?” He looked at me confused.
I just grinned.
"No ... it's okay ... why are you keeping watch when you're asleep anyway?"
"No ... that's not it ... I ... don't care ..."
I cocked my head and looked at him."Do you remember the electric shock?"
"All too well!" I answered honestly.
"Well ... I feel guilty about it ... I was so annoyed that I had to look for you and that you were just gone and Shayne didn't take care of you! And then this part formed by itself!" He looked into the flames again .
"You can produce electricity ??" I asked astonished.
He nodded.
"Everyone here has a special quality! I have a command of the elements of fire and electricity. Shayne can communicate with spirits and he has visions and things like that ... when we need money, we always put him in a tent and make a fortune teller out of him. He can also do such bells and whistles as dream interpreting and palmistry ... "
Jim snorted.
"But it's very useful!"
"What about him and Gary?"
"Gary doesn't have any!"
Jim laughed.
"He thinks that since he is still so young his gift has not yet shown itself. But he is sure that it will soon break out! And it will be very useful to us.""And what about his gift?" I asked further.
"None of us knows it ... he has never used it. We all know that he has an incredible gift and is very powerful. That is why he is our leader. He is stronger than all of us!"
I looked into the forest, to where it had disappeared.
'Where is he going?' I thought.
I was impressed. These guys were very special.
"And why did you get me?"
My gaze was fixed on the forest and my voice was trembling.
I didn't know why, but I was scared of the answer.
"You're asking the wrong person! I have no idea! He wanted it that way!"
I was glad Jim couldn't tell me. Or just didn't.
"I'm going to lie down! Good night Jim!"
I lay on my back. It was warm and nobody needed a blanket.
"Good night, Anna ..."
I was exhausted from the run.
And a lot of information. They all pounded on me at once.
I couldn't sleep for a long time. But slowly the crackling of the fire and the low hum of Jim, like the calm breathing of Shayne, who was lying next to me, lulled me to sleep.

I suddenly woke up when I heard a noise.
I look around.
It was dark, the fire was just glowing.
Gary fell asleep by the fire.
I got up and threw new wood into the embers. I tried in vain to get the log to burn. I managed to turn the fire out completely.
Again I heard a noise. It was like a growl.
I crawled over to Shayne and woke him up.
“What's wrong?” He sat up.
"Do you hear the?"
The growl had given way to a roar.
It sounded like big paws were moving across the forest floor.
Without saying another word, Shayne jumped up.
"Wake up the others! I'll be back soon!"
I watched him go.
I was scared and so I quickly woke up the others.
They jumped up at the sound of the paws and got ready to fight.
"What's this?"I asked, swallowing hard.
"I don't know! Unfortunately, you can't tell by the steps of a creature! We'll have to wait!"
Jim looked around.
"Does anyone have any idea where this thing came from?"
The noises slowly got louder and a cold shiver ran down my spine.
"It's coming from the right!" I shouted suddenly.
That sting could be felt again. My head was about to burst.
"How does she know ..." Gary began.
"It doesn't matter! Watch out!" Jim yelled at him.
I was breathing hard and the pain was unbearable.
My eyes fell on a sword that was lying by the fireplace.
It was the sword I had pulled from a shelf in the armory, I recognized the red scabbard.
Suddenly I felt the urge to hold the sword in my hands.
I ran up to it and pulled it out of its sheath.
"It's coming!" I yelled at the others.
It was quiet for a moment.
I heard my heart beating against my ribs. Then the fight began.
A creature the size of a tiger jumped out of the thicket.
It was too dark to see it, you could only see the animal's yellow eyes.
"A shenta!" Cried Gary in amazement.
"What is a Shenta doing here?" Jim asked the group.
"It doesn't matter now!" Replied Gary.
The being circled us and growled loudly.
"What kind of thing is it?" Jim asked quietly.
“What do you mean, Jim?” That stinging in the head didn't let me rest.
"These critters are divided into different breeds. They differ in the color of their fur. If the fur is light, it won't be long! The darker the fur, the worse the animal!"
The animal started to attack.
Jim should be the first victim.
The shenta leaped towards him.
Jim and I found it hard to avoid.
Jim fell roughly to the ground, I jumped in the air.
Again I fell into that particular trance.
I was over the Shenta now and wanted to strike.
I grasped the sword tightly and the pain in my hands brought me back to reality.I dropped the sword, screaming loudly.
It grazed the animal and inflicted a small wound on it.
The Shenta didn't seem to notice and landed lightly on its paws as I approached the ground.
I closed my eyes and waited for the fatal impact.
