Chapter: Chapter 2: Haroeris' Fight
The mood in the boardroom was serious.
Without talking wildly about it, Thoth immediately reported what the reason for all the excitement had been. "Some of the mercenaries sent are back and they report a great plot against the sun god."
He immediately made it clear to everyone present that they were in a serious situation and that the hustle and bustle along the banks of the Nile had to be stopped.
"Where exactly do these conspirators meet?" Haroer wanted to know.
"They were spotted near Ombos. They seem to find more and more allies ..." "Thoth, send another spy out. He should get a picture of it and tell me exactly what he saw there." Asked Re. All those present agreed to this.
So they sent another spy to report what was going on at Ombos. Re considered the cunning anti (carter; smuggler deity) suitable and immediately entrusted him with this task.
Anti hid behind bushes in order to be able to observe the conspirators unnoticed. After hearing the enemy's plan, he hurried back to the royal palace and reported unbelievable things: "... 256 enemies on the banks of the Great Lake; led by eight generals, surrounded by a large army ...". He also knew how to tell of the plans they made against the sun god.
Re was well aware that his age made him unable to face such a wide variety of opponents on his own. He turned to his wise advisor: “Who among all gods will go into battle against the enemy?” Thoth suggested that he turn to Haroer, who, despite his ferocity, would certainly agree to fight for the sun god if he also assured him of his support.
"Good, send him to me."
Thoth summoned Haroer and told him about the problem ahead. As expected, he agreed to take the
To accept the problem.
"I would be honored to serve my Lord, the great Re."Haroer got ready for the upcoming fight. He pulled on his gold chain mail and put on a miter. He was about to fix his scimitar there when Seth burst in: "What am I hearing? They want to send you to Ombos, of all people, to defeat the enemy?"
Before he could tease any more, Haroer replied calmly: "Come on with me, then you can learn something from your big brother."
"Very funny."
Of course, Seth was interested in how his brother behaved in a real fight.
Finally, Haroer made his way to Ombos. His "little brother" secretly followed him.
Haroer hid behind bushes to see how and when he could strike best. In the face of the enemy army he blushed and thought to himself: "Oh shit ... How are you going to get out of there safe? It seems that you need a little more than just one man to achieve a victory. And I'm foolish I also volunteered for this job ... "He crept as close as possible when he suddenly heard a noise behind him that sounded like the crack of a stick when someone steps on it.He was startled and turned around to pull out his curved sword, which was now right in front of Seth's throat.
"Man, you have to scare me like that !?", Haroer got upset, who on the other hand was relieved that it was only about Seth, "What are you doing here anyway, I thought you don't want to come with me?"
"Please take the sword away first, then maybe I want to explain it to you ...", Seth replied, equally frightened.
"Save yourself your explanations. You know very well that I should do this alone ... And please never sneak up on me like that again, because otherwise ..." "What else?"
... otherwise next time I don't guarantee that your head will stay where it is now! "
They were about to start an argument when they were surprised by a guard who noticed them. Before she could scream, it was over with her.
Haroer turned to Seth: "You do what I say and stay here, understand !?"
"If you want to take on the villains alone ..." "Don't worry, I can do it."Annoyed, he turned around and ran towards the enemy with a loud roar.
Seth, completely taken aback, looked after him, but did not think of staying seated. He never did what his brothers told him to do ...
Haroer rushed into the completely taken by surprise crowd, which after a couple of severed heads and severed bodies gathered again and reached out to strike back. Meanwhile, Seth crept unnoticed into the roaring crowd and armed himself with a sword that he found on a battered corpse.
Haroer was attacked from all sides; Seth tried to get through to him to keep his back free. He barely managed to attack a soldier who was standing behind Haroer and was lashing out to strike. Haroer turned around and saw the man collapse, behind him an embarrassed smiling Seth. Despite the unexpected support from his brother, the situation seemed hopeless for Haroer. There was only one thing left for him to do: he had to appeal to the power of the sun god.He called to Seth to hold his position, knelt down, ramming the sword into the earth and conjured up the magic of the sun god, who had granted him this when he did not know what to do next: "Oh Lord, may the power of your light be mine Wield the sword; that evil and the enemies of Re-Atum-Khephri, who threaten our sacred land, may always be defeated. "He repeated this several times. It actually seemed to work because after pulling his sword out again, he hit harder, defeating several enemies at once. Seth stopped fighting and watched the spectacle. To see his brother like that amazed him so much that he couldn't shut his mouth. Strength and elegance seemed to go hand in hand when Haroer strikes again every time after defeating an opponent.
Finally, Haroer held his sword in the air so that a flash of light penetrated his sword from the direction of the sky. It seemed like he knew exactly how to deal with the power of Atum that Re had promised him.He began to spin on his own axis, holding the sword stretched across his chest. As it did so, it emitted several small flashes of light that looked like thrown knives. They flew in all directions, knocking down the demonic soldiers of the enemy army in rows.
Some wanted to flee and turned into fish and birds to get to safety in the water or in the air. But Haroer always knew how to distinguish them from the scared game. He pointed his magical weapon in the enemy's direction of escape, and everyone he met returned to their original form. In this battle he completely forgot his brother Seth, who was trying to avoid the lightning bolts and take cover.
The battle ended in a field full of fallen enemies. None of them survived.
As Haroer inspected the battlefield, he suddenly noticed that there was nothing to be seen of Seth and wondered where he could have gone.Haroer was about to turn around when he noticed that another soldier from the enemy army seemed to be moving. He drew his sword as he walked towards it. He was about to strike to give him the coup de grace when he heard a whimper. He lowered his weapon again and pushed the dead man to the side with his right leg and found a completely exhausted Seth.
"Ah, there you are. I was worried about where you were."
He gave him a stern look because he resented his failure to follow his instructions to wait behind the bushes until he came back.
"You know that I have to tell Re about it. He and Thoth are probably wondering where you are and are full of worry."
Seth couldn't believe what Haroer was saying: At least he had helped him and yet his brother wanted to whistle on him at Re?
But when they came back, Haroer didn't need to do this anymore, because Re asked Seth himself about it. (I already said: The sun god hardly misses anything that his protégés do.^, -)
So Seth of course didn't get a word of praise, which annoyed him, especially since he had actively supported Haroer. Haroeris, on the other hand, who had not expected any special awards, awarded Re the title of "The greatest of the gods" in order to show his gratitude and in order to reward him nonetheless. He blessed this with the words "Everyone should learn of your heroic deed and celebrate you as such. So that you will fight for all eternity by my side and that of Egypt and defend your homeland, brothers and sisters".
