Chapter: In the rain

In the rain

The wind lashes the rain in my face.
Cold showers run down my spine.
There is a heavy burden on my shoulder.
So heavy that I can hardly carry it.

The rain surprised me.
As if out of nowhere, the huge cloud appeared above me.
Then everything broke out of her.
Lightning flashes across the sky.

The thunder scares birds
Who sat peacefully in their trees.
Their branches groan in the wind.
They bend like small, weak blades of grass.

Somebody shouts something to me
Try to warn me.
But the wind tears the words from his lips,
Swallowed it in his huge throat,
Makes it impossible for me to understand him.

He tries to devour me
To drown in its rain.

My few clothes are soaked
Water runs off my straw hat
On my back and my shoulders
Like a single torrent.
He gives me goose bumps.

I can't hold the load anymoreMy fingers are cold
Freezing.
I hardly feel it anymore.
Just the pain.

Will I ever get a warm, dry house?
Or will the gray of the rain engulf me?
I'm losing all hope
Gotta give up.

No!
I see a light.
A lonely candle
In a little window.
