Chapter 14: ... is just not enough
He hadn't even turned to the demon who was trying to kill him. He felt a stab of pain when the sword was rammed into his back and when he looked down he could see that the point had been pierced and the upper part was now sticking out of his stomach. His eyes blurred and everything became unclear. Was this dying? He didn't see a black tunnel with a bright light at the end, just a few voices buzzing around in his head. Voices that sounded very familiar to him ...
“We don't play with you, yellow eyes!” The children on the street in his village, whom he had trusted and with whom he had shared everything. The children, one of whom would probably never laugh again. The one whose blood was on Chris' hands.
"You are the devil's brood, but your parents wouldn't listen to me!", His grandmother, whom he had never liked very much, but who was still part of his family.The woman who cast him out.
“She can't afford to be with you!” Jame, the demon hunter. Azrani's instructor who threw Chris on the street and that only because he was a demon.
"Bad demon", Azrani`s voice, which burned into his memory.
"Murderer", Azrani's voice, which he just couldn't shake off. Her monosyllabic insults that she uttered more and more hateful the longer she looked at him.
"You even mess with demons to protect me?", Her confused, but slightly cold voice that didn't know what to think of him. Cold but not repellent.
"I don't want you to get hurt ...", the voice came from the same person, from Azrani, but it had changed. She spoke these words neither doubtfully, nor coldly, nor hateful, but ... differently. Maybe ... loving. He couldn't remember the exact sound of her words, but they sounded friendly.
"Chris!", A voice called him back to reality and he opened his eyes again.The demon stood over him, the blood-smeared blade in his hand again. "Azrani ...", Chris whispered quietly and hoped that it would be quick and that the demon wouldn't torture him much longer. Slowly the blade lowered ... "CHRIS!", It sounded again behind him and out of the corner of his eye he actually saw Azrani running towards him. No. He had never wished so much that she would just go away. He didn't want her to see him die. Still, he raised his hand slightly and held it out in her direction. It happened automatically. Small tears shone in her eyes.
"Hehe, how romantic," whispered the demon who was still standing over Chris and raised his blood-smeared blade. Then he added: "Especially if you have to believe it now!" Again the sword ran into his body, he wanted to scream, but there was no sound from his lips. He was still looking at Azrani and her eyes reflected the pain he was feeling.Warm blood flowed over his upper body and the demon hunter running towards him was still screaming his name.
Again the demon struck him with its blade, again and again. It felt like several hours to Chris, but in reality it was only seconds.
What an irony. He was hunted by people for days because they thought he was a demon and now he died here, fighting for the people, murdered by another demon.
His already red wings were also moistened with his blood. His gaze was still on Azrani and only now did he notice her injuries. Her leg was turned back strangely, but she wanted to get to him as fast as she could. What for? Why should she want to be with him? Didn't she have Jame ...? This too stood by her and tried to hold back, but she freed herself again and again and ran on.
Among other things, he saw despair in her tearful eyes, but with the best will in the world he could not assign why this feeling was there.His whole body was already pierced by the blade of the demon and he was going to die from the loss of blood one way or another, but the man did not give up: He rammed the sword right through Chris' heart. His eyes glazed over.
"NO!" Shouted Azrani, who had finally reached him. She rammed Jame's ax into the throat of the demon, but it was no longer of any use. Any help came too late for Chris, his heartbeat had stopped. The tears ran unhindered down her cheeks and she fell on the floor next to the demon's corpse. He took his hand in hers. She was still warm. "Get out of here, quick! We have to flee!" Jame ordered her and wanted to pull her away from the fighting. He succeeded with a little force and Chris` lifeless hand fell back again. His eyes stared coldly towards the sky, nothing to be seen in them. No life, no friendly glow ... no love.

:;:;:;:;:; Oh, how ... how ... yeah, what's it like? Sad, romantic, sweet?Well, the latter probably not, but it could be ... I really thought about letting him live for a moment, but then ... then somehow I was at the point where he put the sword in the heart and then I just didn't know how to save him ... Hey, I think that's why I'm getting depressed now because of the end! You know what? If you ask soooo sweetly, I'll make an alternative ending ... Like "What if?" moderate. Then he can survive. Do you want that or are you happy with this ending? :;:;:;:;
