Chapter 6: Azrani
With every movement, more blood flowed from his veins, even though he was clutching her tightly. There was nothing he could do now but watch helplessly as she gave him the coup de grace. Because that's what she was about to do.
That's what he'd been waiting for since they'd last met. He was still ready to die. But a small part of him resisted and let him slide further and further back. Even with his injuries, that wasn't a problem on the muddy and slippery ground. "Stay here, demon!", She yelled and he gathered his last strength and jumped back as far as he could. Right over the cliff that was there.
It fell deeper and deeper until it finally hit the water. There he saw very clearly how a cloud of blood was forming around him.
He tried to fight his way up, but his strength was no longer sufficient. He was too weak and let himself fall deeper and deeper ... fall ... into the darkness."Bad demon," she whispered again after jumping over the cliff. Now he wasn't even allowing her to kill him! But she wouldn't let that happen. She would kill him with her own hands if she had to jump into this disgusting river and pull him out!

He already had no more feeling in his body, but he still noticed how his mouth was filling more and more with water. He couldn't hold out for long, but that didn't matter now. He wanted the pain in his right wrist to stop. He barely noticed how a hand grabbed his shirt and pulled him out of the ice-cold water.
"Finally wake up, demon! You should look me in the eye when I kill you!" Someone shouted in his ear and then slapped him. Who was that? Was he still under water?
He opened his eyes and saw someone standing in front of him. After blinking for a few seconds, he recognized the demon hunter. Great. Had she now pulled it out of the river just to slit it open?"Did you ... save ... me?" He whispered, barely audible, and the pain in his wrist began again.
"Yes, of course! You should receive your death sentence from me personally!", She answered and raised her sword. "What ... is your name?" He muttered, throwing the demon hunter completely off track. "What did you say?" She replied, dropping her sword in shock. "What's your name?" He repeated weakly, waiting for an answer.
No one had ever asked her that before. Nobody cared about her name as long as she destroyed the demons. And of all things a demon asked her about it, for the first time in her life ... "I ... have no name", she replied and turned away from him. That was true. Her parents died shortly after she was born and didn't have time to name her. At least not one she could remember now. The other people she came to never asked her for her name and that didn't bother her at all, since she didn't have one."Then I'll call you ... Azrani," he said with a smile and held the still bleeding wrist again. What kind of demon was that?
"... I'm not going to kill you yet," she whispered and bandaged his wrist so he wouldn't bleed to death from the wounds. "But one thing is certain: The next time we meet you will have to die!", She added and Chris smiled at her as he left.
Azrani is a lovely name, she thought as she walked away from him faster and faster.
