Chapter 3: How Do You Want To Die?

He wasn't allowed to go back to the village one more time, that was too risky. It could happen that Chris was killed ... or that he killed someone again.
Chris still didn't get it. He was sure he hadn't squeezed too hard when he was clutching his friend's neck. And the brief moment of paying attention to something else was impossible to kill him. He had to, if someone was strangled, the agony could last up to ten minutes. And it wasn't that easy to strangle people .... However, it was still a child that he had killed. Children might die sooner with something like that ... But Chris was still almost a child himself! He'd never have the strength to strangle anyone!
He knew these were all just excuses. He just didn't want to admit that he was a murderer. Now he couldn't go back to the village. Now that he had murdered someone, no one would believe that he wasn't a demon, no matter what he told them.But he still hadn't eaten. He could go to another village or to a big city where he was not known. No, like here he would be labeled a demon because of his yellow eyes. He could wrap a scarf around his eyes and say he was blind ... No, that couldn't be done either. He would run against everything and everyone would laugh at him.
Again he hid in the forest, but he couldn't stay here for long. Last night the people with the torches he had seen that evening had gone through the forest looking for him. The demon hunter was there too. Chris was able to hide just in time, but he wouldn't be able to do that again. There were people everywhere chasing him. He had to flee, no matter where!
So he tried his old plan again: he just ran. Ran until he reached the end of the forest. Fortunately, he was not spotted by any of the villagers.But after that he had no more strength. It was now the fifth day that he hadn't eaten any more and it was gradually affecting his body. Chris couldn't walk long distances without collapsing completely exhausted. So he had to take a break again. He let himself slide down a tree and fall to the ground.
A moment later he could feel someone holding a sword to his throat. He raised his head and looked into the angry face of the village demon hunter. "Murderer", she whispered and lifted the blade to give him the coup de grace. Chris lowered his head again and whispered, "Yes. Please kill me." That confused her. She had expected that he would fight with her, maybe even beg for his life ... but not that. She had fought many demons who were far more powerful than him and she had never been asked to kill."Why ... are you saying that?" She said. He replied just as quietly as before: "I murdered one of my best friends. I deserved it. Come on!" At the last words he looked into her face again and she could see slight tears in the corner of his eye. Why was he crying again? He seemed really serious! Only now did she notice that he was much younger than any of her opponents before. He was almost a child! Well, the same could be said about her, but ... Now that she was only inches away from him, it occurred to her that he didn't look like a demon at all. More like a normal child. Except for those yellow eyes. Those bright yellow eyes that humans never had. She had met some demons with yellow eyes, but not so young. It was a sad story. He spends his whole life in this village and then they want to kill him overnight! That just could not be the case!"What is it now?", He asked her almost cheekily, got up and leaned his head back. She was pulling out when suddenly someone shouted: "Look, there is the demon! Burn it!"
It was the villagers who caught up with them. After a few minutes Chris was surrounded: in front of him the demon hunter and in all other directions the villagers. He panicked and turned to the demon hunter again: "I don't want to be burned alive. Please ... kill me now. Don't give me over to them!"
Chris had made this plan since he ran out of the woods. It made little difference to him whether he was burned or impaled. He just didn't want to be killed by the villagers. Not from the people he'd spent his whole life with and who meant everything to him. Better to be killed by an innocent person like the demon hunter than by the people he loved.
The villagers came closer and began again to berate Chris: "Bad demon!" and "Die, yellow eyes!" he heard the most.But the demon hunter also made a decision at that moment. She turned away from Chris, lifted her sword high above her head and shouted: "If anyone gets too close, I will cut it open with my own hands! Don't you dare to bend a hair!"

:;:;:;:;: So ... and now I need your help. The demon hunter should get a name soon, she can't always walk around without a name! Or is it? No, at some point it has to get a name because I've decided to keep it in the story permanently.
One more thing: It's a drama ... Should Chris die in the end? Anyone who has read "Sol et Scelus" knows that I can very well let my main characters die ... What do you think? Please pick me up, I'm totally lost in this story! ;:;:;:;
