Chapter: A strange discovery

On a warm spring morning Inuyasha and Co were in a forest when they heard someone scream. "Where did that come from?" Kagome asked the group. "From over there!" Inuyasha shouted as he ran away. "Wait, Inuyasha!", Sango asked him, but he was already out of sight. As fast as they could they tried to catch up with Inuyasha, which they succeeded. By then Inuyasha had already managed to find the source of the scream. "What happened to these guys?" Asked Kagome fearfully. "I don't know." Inuyasha answered. They stood at the edge of the forest and stared at a huge crater that lay before them. A few meters from the opposite edge of the crater was a small village where the residents were already gathering. "Let's ask what happened here. The villagers must have seen something.", Miroku said. Inuyasha nodded, took Kagome on his back and started running. Sango and Miroku followed the two with Shippo and Kirara.When they got to the village, they tried to find out something that turned out to be extremely difficult. There was panic in the village and men and women were walking around or talking animatedly. Kagome got off Inu Yasha's back and approached a group of women talking wildly. "What happened here?", Kagome wanted to know. "I don't know. Actually, I just wanted to go to our field to harvest herbs and when I got there there was this huge hole in the ground!", One woman told Kagome about her experience. The others just nodded and, after they had interrupted their conversation, started talking again. "But that can't be! Such a huge hole doesn't appear silently out of nowhere!" Sango wondered, who turned to Miroku to get an explanation. She just shook her head. He also had no idea how such a thing can happen. Frustrated, Sango turned back to the woman. "I know it sounds strange, but ... really nobody noticed!We are worried about that. If the hole had emerged only a few meters further in this direction, our village would be gone now and so would we! ", said the villager, shocked. Kagome looked at Inuyasha and he indicated that they should rather go. Kagome said goodbye and then they went again towards the crater to have a closer look." Something like that can't be easy so show up! ", said Miroku. Sango nodded:" No, that is completely impossible! "" But you heard it! Why should the villagers lie? You have absolutely no reason to! There are too many different smells. "" Demons? "repeated Miroku. Inuyasha nodded. Kagome carefully walked closer to the edge of the crater to look inside. Except for a deep blackness, she saw nothing.[i]How deep might that be? Kagome wondered. Just as she was about to leave, she saw a face down there and was so frightened that she lost her balance and fell over. Inuyasha, who had noticed this in time, was just able to hold onto her before she fell down. He pulled her back and Kagome sat on the grass. "Kagome, are you okay? That could have ended badly!" Inuyasha said worried, which of course he would never have admitted. Kagome was still in shock: "Yes, everything is OK. Thank you, Inuyasha. I thought I ... oh nothing" She told herself that she had only imagined it. "What did you think?" Inuyasha wanted to know. "It's okay, let's go. There is nothing we can do here.", Kagome urged the others back into the forest.
