Fanfic: Vampirblut
almost screamed in despair and pressed her face to her mother's.
"Please do not!" she muttered with tearful eyes.
Slowly Laurie and Mizuke also approached their friend and kneeled to the left and right of her.
Laurie put an arm on Kazuka's shoulder and rubbed her back soothingly."Why?" Kazuka cried "Why?"
Mizuke was close to tears, too, as was Laurie. Only now did the girls realize that they too had lost their families and would never see them again.
Kazuka wept silently for minutes while Laurie and Mizuke fought back tears. You had to be there for your new friend and be strong.
"We have to get out of here!" Kazuka sobbed, after a few minutes of silence and sadness "You will definitely come back! My mother said before she died that the vampires were looking for you both and I should take care of you ... so we have to leave as soon as possible from here! You will definitely come again! "
Laurie and Mizuke looked at Kazuka in horror. YOU were to blame for this disaster?
"But why?" stuttered Mizuke.
"I don't know! Come on! Quick ... this way!"
Kazuka quickly took the two of them by the hand and ran with them out of the city.
All around them there was dead silence. It was almost scary.Especially because they ran into a forest and nothing could be heard.
As the three of them rushed through the forest at record speed, Laurie stretched her head towards the sky a few times. There were leaves up there, but there was no breeze. It was really unnatural and terrifying. There were also no birds to be heard, as if she knew that a disaster was approaching.
"Kazuka ... what's going on here?" Laurie gasped when she finally ran next to Kazuka, who in turn was crazy about it.
"Do you mean the silence?" was her short question.
Laurie nodded, which was quite an effort. She wouldn't keep up this incredible pace for long, and Mizuke wouldn't anyway. She didn't even have the strength to bend a finger while running.
"The birds ... and all the other ... animals ... feel the danger ... pretty ... smart what?"
Kazuka tried to smile, but failed.
/ Incredibly smart! / thought Laurie sarcastically. As if it would help the animals if they hide. After all, vampires are bat-like. They don't let themselves be put off by something like that.
"But ... Kazuka ... if the Guardian Village ... is now destroyed ... then what happens to the portal?" Laurie asked further.
A sharp pain shot through her body, but Laurie kept walking. She put one hand on her hip and applied light pressure. How she hated stitching in the side.
"Folks ... let's ... take a ... break!" Mizuke gasped and slowed her pace.
Laurie and Kazuka also gradually stopped and took a breath again.
Mizuke sat down at a tree and closed his eyes.
"We should stay here first and get some sleep!" said Laurie and yawned.
It was weird. Only recently had she slept for a long time, but in this world where it was always dark one quickly got tired.
Kazuka really disliked the idea as she felt hairy to walk on.Otherwise the vampires would surely find her, but Laurie countered by arguing that as tired and drained as they were, she wouldn't get very far. Kazuka couldn't say anything against that and so the three reluctantly took a longer break.
