Chapter: Chapter 6 - The Temple

So, go on!

Hope you like the Kapi!

Bye, angi-chan ^. ^

When they had made camp for the night, Rie told them everything that had happened in the cave that day. Her friends were just as shocked as Rie was. "That man killed your parents just to give you this necklace?" Asuka asked incredulously. Her friend nodded. "Yes, that's how he told me. I couldn't believe it either, but he seems to have been telling the truth. The burglar they arrested had been claiming all along that he was set up. And I ... I could never be mad at him. Maybe I subconsciously noticed that it wasn't him but someone else. "Asuka understood. "So, we should all get some sleep now, especially you, Rie. The day was pretty exhausting," interjected Kensuke. "Yes, that's a good idea.", Asuka yawned and Rie also agreed. Then they said good night and fell asleep.

The next morning they gathered fruits and berries in the jungle, which they ate for breakfast. An hour later they set off again. "What is your injury doing?", Kensuke wanted to know from Rie. "Everything ok.", She said.

After a while, Rie suddenly stopped. "What's going on?" Asuka wanted to know. But she didn't answer and pulled out her chain. It shone. Kensuke and Asuka were shocked because they thought that something would happen again. But Rie reassured her: "Don't worry. Nothing happens. The chain just tells us where to go." Then she just walked straight ahead. Her friends looked puzzled, then went after them.

After half an hour they came to a rock wall with a cave. "Oh no, another cave," sighed Asuka. Rie too had had enough of caves. Still, she just went inside. It was pitch dark again, just like in the other caves. But this time they came very quickly to a huge room in the middle of it. This room was definitely as big as a football stadium. In the middle was a huge lake and behind it you could see an outline. But you could only guess what it was. "Do you see that? There in the lake? What is that?", Rie asked the other two and her voice echoed in this large room. "Well, I don't see anything.", Asuka said. "But I do. It looks like a building," said Ken. Rie agreed with him. "Yes, I think so too. At least my chain tells me that we have to go there." "Yes, but how?" Asked her friend, because there was neither a bridge nor a boat. "I don't know.", Answered the other girl.

Just as they wanted to look around, the chain began to glow even more and a bridge appeared out of the water. "Uh, how ... what?" Asuka stammered. "I think that was the chain. If that was the chain, we have to be very close," Rie muttered. "Nearby? From what?" Asuka asked. "Well from the Kejicho!"

So they crossed the bridge. All three had an uncomfortable feeling, but if they ever found out the secret of this Kejicho or wanted to go back home, they had to go to this building now.Rie was a little afraid to find out more about her past. She was concerned about the way her parents died.

A few meters, how many did not know, they came in front of a huge temple that stood on a large island in the middle of the lake. "Wow.", Asuka said. Kensuke agreed. "I think we have to get in there," said Rie, not very enthusiastic. Her friends weren't too keen to go in there either. But they decided to dare anyway.

The temple was quite old and there were statues of dragons everywhere. Some were already damaged and in a few places they were completely missing. The first room was pretty big. It somehow reminded Rie of a lobby in a hotel. From this room three corridors led even deeper into the temple. "Which one do we take?" Asked Kensuke, who had already drawn his sword. "I don't know.", Rie replied. "Doesn't your chain tell you where to go?" Asuka said.“I can give it a try.” She listened carefully, but the chain remained silent. She shook her head. "Oh ..." Asuka muttered. "We'll have to try it on luck," remarked Ken. "Yes, and which gear do we take?" Rie wanted to know. "Let's try the one in the middle," suggested Asuka. Since the other two didn't have a better suggestion, they took the middle gear.

"But we should be careful.", Rie warned.

The corridor was always straight. With torches on the walls, the path was lit enough to walk along without injuring yourself in any way. Just as Rie was about to go on calmly, Kensuke shouted "Stop !!" from behind. She stopped immediately. "Watch out. There's a trap," he added. The girl looked at the floor and noticed a wire stretched across the path. If she had hit against there, some mechanism would have been activated. She didn't want to know what exactly would have happened.Rie stepped over the string and thanked Kensuke.

On their way they encountered a few more such traps. But no one was seriously injured. Then they finally came to the end of the tunnel. They came into another huge room that was almost empty. There was only an altar in the middle.

Rie went ahead and saw something on the altar. It looked like an amulet. She wanted to take it but someone threw something at her from behind. Rie was able to duck in time and realized that it was a knife and knew immediately who it must have been.
