Friend or foe?

"Well? Have you finally gotten a little smarter, girls?" suddenly came a voice.
Aprupt the girls turned around. Behind them stood their math teacher, Mr. Auckland. As always, wrapped in his black coat and with an opaque look.
"They mean?" Siria asked, who quickly closed the book and hid it behind her back.
“I mean your research and your knowledge of the near future.” His voice sounded strange. Somehow serious and yet as if he had to laugh at any moment. He wasn't at all likeable to the girls and he knew something about the Wave, or was he just bleating because he liked to poke around?Whatever, they couldn't trust him.
The man took a step forward and eyed the girls darkly: "You see ... I don't want anything bad. The friends looked at each other in amazement. Their teacher seemed to be more involved than they suspected. The situation seemed so deadlocked ...

They left the library and decided to go to the park to clear their heads.

They sat down next to a small pond.
