"Seto? Please wake up!"
Again a bright light shone in his eyes. He blinked and took his hand protectively in front of it.
"Brother! You're finally awake again. Thought you'd never wake up."
"Mokuba? Is that you?"
His counterpart began to grin.
"Something like that ... now you don't recognize your own brother anymore!"
"Leave your jokes, where am I ...?"
He screamed and touched his knee painfully.Tightly wrapped in bandages, he couldn't feel anything.
"What happened?" He croaked and then looked at his brother. His worried expression looked at him, while his gray hair was blowing in the light wind.
"You had an accident. As far as I know, a truck drove towards you and you couldn't avoid it. Nevertheless, you were incredibly lucky."
"What does happiness mean here? When will I be released?"
Mokuba looked at the floor. He didn't want to answer this question, Seto noticed, but he asked again.
"When can I get out of here?"
"Well, Seto ... It will probably take a few more weeks. However, the doctor said they could continue to treat you at home."
"So I can go home, but I still have to take it easy, right?"
His brother nodded. Seto sighed and leaned back against the pillows.
"Good. Then we just have to clarify when the bandages will be removed from me. I can't even run properly with that."
Mokuba looked sad.He had to tell his brother. Even if that meant seeing him suffer even more.
"The doctors will be able to remove the bandages, but the chances are pretty slim that you will ever walk again. Your hipbone is broken and will no longer work anytime soon, unless a miracle happens."
He looked into his brother's empty eyes. It appeared that the CEO of Kaiba Corp. somewhere else. An eerie silence fell and Mokuba wondered if his brother would ever be the same again. He had never seen him so upset.
"Get out!", Seto said in a firm tone and Mokuba went to the door. Before that he turned to his brother again.
"I want you to know that this won't change anything, Seto."
With these words, he left the small room, leaving behind a thoughtful Seto Kaiba.
Meanwhile, less than 10 kilometers away, a good-looking young woman was waiting at the door of her stepfather, who had called her over. There was no time to investigate the reason, as the door was already opening.
As always, Tenshi stood at the large glass front and looked dreamily outside. Christin did not know him otherwise. It must be something of great importance when he invited her into his room.
"You know why I let you come here?"
"Is it because of the layoffs?" Said Christin, a little annoyed, and rolled her eyes. Her stepfather gave a malicious laugh and then turned to look at her.
"But Christian? How did you come up with that, child? I spoke to your brother yesterday and made it clear to him that you are using exactly the right principle to run a company. That is exactly why you are sitting here."
At the words of Tenshi, Christin had become deeply suspicious. The old man was up to something. But she would find out what it was all about. Tenshi was always too clever to have problems with him. You had to be careful not to get into the clutches of the wolf in sheep's clothing."Well, Tenshi, what do you want to tell me? As you probably know, time is money and unfortunately you are running out of it."
At the last few words, Tenshi's expression became more and more unfriendly. He wouldn't let his stepdaughter fool him, and he'd make sure she never got in his way again. Hatred rose in him, just like the day they met. That day had been the worst in Tenshi's life and whatever he did, he couldn't forget it.
He moved towards his desk so that he was sitting across from Christin. The eyes of his stepdaughter radiated nothing but cold and did not allow even the smallest feeling. Just perfect for his plan.
"Well, Christian. Since you have done your work better than anyone in the last few years and you have exceeded my expectations, I would like to give you an assignment."
The young woman gave a cold laugh.
"You? YOU want to give ME an assignment? That I don't laugh, Tenshi. You have nothing more to say here. Admit it. You're just a little lamp, nothing more. And this will soon be extinguished. My brother and I are now running this company and you can be sure that it won't last long. "
Christin put on a superior smile and looked down numbly at Tenshi. He couldn't utter a word. How dare she? That little beast. After he'd bequeathed half of his company to her and housed them under his roof, she allowed herself to be so cheeky. Yet. Now it was a matter of staying calm. If he wanted his plan to work, Christin had to accept his suggestion. Her thirst for power would be her undoing.
"I'll make you a suggestion and you would do well to accept it. As you probably know, the Kaiba Corp. is one of the leading game companies and is therefore a competitor to us. I want you to do business with Seto Kaiba comes in.So he can no longer get in our way. So what do you say? "
His stepdaughter crossed her legs.
"And why should I accept your offer?"
Tenshi smiled and went back to the window. Christin didn't trust her own stepfather. Maybe he had taught her too much after all?
"You are of course free to play your games with him or not. In addition, Seto Kaiba has already faced many strokes of fate. Although he has always remained the aloof, it would be easy for a young genius like you to take advantage of it. But if you don't want to ... "
The old man cleared his throat and went to the door. Inwardly, however, he pleaded that Christin would accept and thus seal her fate.
"Tenshi, I think I'll pay a little visit to Mr. Kaiba.", Said a cold female voice and smiled at her stepfather.
"Are we in business then?"
"If I get what I want, we will be."
The door opened and the young woman marched elegantly into her room. She still had plans for today. Zigfried was sure to be waiting. A look at the clock told her that she had ten minutes left and that she had to hurry. She quickly put on her tight white pants and her white top. When she got to the garage, all she had to do was tell the chauffeur where she was going.
"To the Café Herman."
Meanwhile, a rose-haired man was sitting in a café in the city center. His pink suit and white shirt were a perfect match and accentuated his looks. (A: Well.) Out of boredom, he had taken today's newspaper and eagerly read the article with the headline: "Seto Kaiba can no longer walk?" A smile formed on his lips. When the waitress came by, he immediately ordered two glasses of sparkling champagne. It had to be celebrated. It never happened very often that his competitor did something like this.
"Yes, yes, Kaiba. Worked too hard, huh?"
He let the champagne melt on his tongue and picked up the newspaper again. There was a large picture of a brunette man next to the article. He was sitting in a wheelchair and could not suppress the emptiness of his eyes. The reporters around him were just attacking him with questions, but the brown-haired man didn't answer, just looked stubbornly straight.
"Good morning, my darling.", Zigfried's ear came and he got up to greet his girlfriend. The two kissed (A: I don't think so! ° _ °) until they went back to the uncomfortable chairs.
Zigfried was still grinning.
"Did you eat something wrong or do I look so good today that you can't take your eyes off me?" Commented Christin on her friend's good mood. He threw the newspaper at her.
"Do you know this man in the photo?" He asked her, staring at the newspaper.
The young woman read the article through in two minutes. That couldn't be true! With wide eyes she looked at the huge photo and then at Zigfried, who was waiting for an answer."Now?"
Christin collected herself and replied:
"No, I've never seen him before."
For a moment she had really struggled whether she should tell him about the deal. But there was still time. Besides, Christin no longer trusted anyone, not even her boyfriend. She could never be sure whether he was loving her or was just seeing one of his bed toys again.
"That's Seto Kaiba. You really don't know him?" Zigfried asked suspiciously.
"No and stop wasting our time together with such trivialities ..." she said irritably and pushed the newspaper away from her.
"You're right. Still, I heard you want to do business with him?"
How did he know? Christin stared at him, but Zigfried kept calm.
"Christian, I just want to protect you. Seto Kaiba is a criminal and you should be very careful around him. On the other hand, we could band together. As a couple, of course. "
He looked at his counterpart in the beautiful yellow eyes that looked at him like two suns. However, the owner of these stars began to become suspicious. How could Zigfried already know this, it had always been less than five minutes since she had left her stepfather. And yet this union aroused their curiosity.
"What is it about?"
"Watch out," said the pink-haired man and leaned closer.
"Kaiba is ailing. Due to the many intrigues and strokes of fate his soul has become vulnerable. If you treat him so that he forgets his company in certain areas, it could happen that we could exploit Kaiba Corp. And on top of that, yours would have to be Brother suffered a significant setback as we would now be bigger and therefore more profitable. "
Christin couldn't get used to this thought.
